And that same company (joyoland) would do those ports instead of XSEED, like they claimed they would port Ys Seven, of which we haven't heard of anything since their announcement. Don't get your hopes up.

Those games are already out in Chinese, and Zero has a Japanese version too. The only question mark is Ao since it's still exclusive to China. Depending on the agreements made, Falcom might still be able to just license XSEED that version even without a Japanese release.

Yes, but that wasn't the point of my post. The point was that XSEED would do nothing about them as Joyoland would do that on their own, and that they (Joyoland) claimed there would be a Ys Seven port for the west and they haven't delivered on that yet.

And I think Tom mentioned that Joyoland could use XSEED's translation too due to a technicality or something. I could be remembering it wrong too, been a while.

Joyoland isn't doing anything with western PC games. IIRC they canceled Ys Seven.

They are probably done with Chinese PC games too now that they have consoles over there.

So are we basically sure it's Xanadu at this point or...

Next? Possible since they registered the domain months ago.

Tokyo? Doesn't seem all that likely to me, it's too new and would be too far away to announce now. But who knows.

We aren't sure of anything just yet

Yeah, if you're getting caught up on the thread please keep in mind that it is all speculation. Just because a lot of people seem sure of something doesn't mean there is anything concrete.

These threads always seem to end in heartbreak...

It's... like being in a Square-Enix thread!

WE MADE IT, YOU GUYS.

Fingers crossed for some PC announcements.

Very unlikely to be honest.

We've tossed around the idea of maybe porting previously console-exclusive titles to PC by way of a third-party programming house (or Sara, our Steam programmer, if she'd be up to the challenge!), but even that's kind of a pipe dream at this point. Finding someone who knows console-specific programming well enough to port whole games from PC (or other consoles), and especially finding such a person within our budget, seems like a virtual impossibility at this point.

So as much as we would love to port Ys Origin to consoles or handhelds... it would ultimately be up to Falcom to do that, I'm sorry to say.

There are Falcom PC titles to begin with, no need to do any porting whatsoever.

Its still a risk for Xseed. The available title are quite lenghty and would take very long to translate (Zero/Ao no Kiseki). Also the list of the remaining pc title that are not affiliated with Ys or Eiyū Densetsu is rather small and most of these are unknown here in the west.

Datsu Nugu...never forget.

I want to shake Japan by its collar and force them to port EVERYTHING to PC. There's an audience, dammit.

Things change very slowly in japan. Just compare it with the situation back in the early 201X to now.

If someone would have told me in 2013 that steam gets a "Tales of" port on the same release date as the console version, i would have pronounced him crazy.

The original Luminous Arc wasn't that great either but I still had a good time with it.

Yeah so did I, not really into sRPGs most of the time but even some Lumi Arc fans said Infinity was pretty easy and the game relied on their abilities to constantly be used, I think
Not sure I'm remembering correctly.

It's the 15th and I have gotten no exclusive announcements.
I hate America time.
GIMME ME THE ANNOUNCEMENTS DAMNIT ToT!

It happened. And it was awesome.

But mostly because I got to talk about and show people Popolo all day, which -- as you might imagine -- I did with aplomb. ;)

C'mon Tom...make with the juicy news. Tomorrow is already here (in the East Coast, that is). ;]

At least give us some XSEED Twitter-like riddles.

That is actually awesome.

I'm really perched for this one since everything I saw about it looks incredible charming and fun.

Can anyone give me a quick rundown of the difference between Xanadu and Xanadu Next? Is it a sequel, an enhanced version, or what? The info I've seen is confusing.

Also, I need that announcement, dammit!

Xanadu Next was PC game and played similar to Diablo, at least that's what I read about the game.
This being Falcom of course, they'd take the Diablo formula and make it a kickass action game.

This should help. Here's an older graph of the Legend of Heroes series, spanning from the original to Xanadu to Faxanadu to Xanadu Next to Trails in the Sky to Trails of Cold Steel, etc.

Xanadu Next isn't a remake. It's a spinoff of Dragon Slayer 2: Xanadu, also known as just Xanadu. It's not much like any of the other entries, though.

Hope the reception of the game was good, since really do like the new addition to the series!
