XBL: Games with Gold

I know a lot of people are complaining but I've never played Walking Dead Season 1 so I'm happy. I've read a lot of great things.

It's fantastic. Great story and characters that you grow to love (or love to hate). Funny thing for me is I just bought Season 2 on disc for $8 at Target the other day and was going to save it for later on in October. At least I haven't played Valiant Hearts yet so that's a great get for me!
 
 
Halfway through it; I'm really liking Valiant Hearts. I think they also did Child of Light? I'd like to see some more games like this, in the UbiArt style.

Lol what? I've not heard of anyone losing their accounts doing this, I've been back and forth between the UK a fair bit in the last year and bought stuff using my account in both Ireland and the UK region stores with no repercussions, same with the american region. If you lost your account doing this then how would anyone change region should they move.

I'm not sure if people get banned over it, but MS likely views switching regions to buy something or because you moved differently than switching to exploit GwG.

I found Child of Light a bit dull, even though it's visually spectacular. I haven't yet tried Valiant Hearts, though, and it's a somewhat different genre, so it might be better.

Same. Valiant Hearts is great though, I got about halfway through before I ran out of gaming time for a while, but I was having fun with it.

Also, GTA5 is on deals with gold this week, lowest price I've really seen for digital GTA5 remaster on anything.
 
Dang it, missed TR:DE - thought for sure I added it when it was announced, but I guess I missed that one.

Oh well, not like I don't already have the PC version.

Still wish they made it a bit easier to find out when the games are available - maybe an email or something? IDK, as it stands, checking Reddit gamedeals is my only real reminder :/

They always change on the same day (1st and 16th), you don't have to remember a lot.

I don't want to get spam every 2 weeks for reminding me about GwG :P

Reminds me of that time when Chinese Xbox accounts could get Assassins Creed 3 for free, and people started making Chinese accounts and downloaded the game. I'm not sure if Microsoft ever did anything about that.

Thanks for the heads up for Lococycle. I got Powerstar Golf that way last year too.

Some people got banned on Xbox 360 for downloading free stuff from region that were not suppose to have games to begin with like Morocco. I was kinda lucky I didn't get banned.
 
I wouldn't recommend switching regions to get a 3rd game... you're only supposed to get 2 games a month, not 3. Is cheating the system really worth the risks? for Lococycle at that? It'd be far too easy for MS to check who claimed both TWD and Lococycle, don't risk your account people.

The only way I'd recommend getting Lococycle is if you already have TWD and won't be downloading it from GWG. Lococycle will probably be free with gold for everyone else eventually anyways.

All games are region free it doesn't really matter. Although it should auto redirect itself to your own region anyway, I'm not sure why it didn't for you.
 
I remember switching regions to get Volgarr, it wasn't on our free thing at the start and I reeeeeeeeally wanted it.

We got that golf game instead, so basically I just switched, got Volgarr switched back and didn't get the golf one thinking that kinda deal would save me any trouble. Volgarr was worth it too, man I enjoyed that game!

Then a bit later when they sorted out the Volgarr rating thing they just added it for us too so we got both in the end so I grabbed the golf game too. :D

I doubt they really care that much, enough to hunt you down type thing. But to be honest its LocoCycle... I'll probably never play it so not gonna bother the risk.

Give us Strider MS! >_> Come on! Its old and a download game, and its already been free on PS+, perfect candidate for GWG free'ness but just cause I'm waiting for it (like Ryse too) they never give it lol. :(

Better than getting the same game multiple times at least!

They only banned people creating Oman accounts (it had about 10-15 free games) because Oman doesn't actually have an Xbox Marketplace, so it was clear that was a mistake.

Yeah, I have it in my calendar to always check GWG and download my free games.

I do get a lot spam emails from PSN so it's nice to avoid that with Xbox live.
 
I remember back when MS stared giving away free games on 360 there was a NeoGaf thread telling ppl to switch region to some Middle Eastern country to get a free game, ppl started posting they were getting banned. My guess (besides posters BSing) is that MS either saw the thread or were tipped off by a spike of users switching accounts as I haven't seen anyone saying they've been banned for this type of thing since then.

Ahh yes that's the incident I'm thinking of too, you say MS easily sniffed them out because Oman's lack of an Xbox Marketplace made them easy to see? interesting.
 
I won't personally be worrying about it. This is hardly on a 360 level of 'hack' or 'exploit'.

You are simply going into a different store and 'buying' a game.

And wtf... LocoCycle is lol.
 
I am pleasantly surprised by The Walking Dead. Didn't really think that type of game would be for me but I've sunk about 10 hours into it over the weekend. Is Season 2 as good? Haven't finished 1 yet but at the last episode now. I heard good things about Wolf Among Us.
 
A bit late on this, but I don't get the hate for The Deer God. I started it up last night and couldn't put the controller down until I beat the final boss. Great game.

Season 2 is a step down in quality, but it's a solid continuation of the story. The 500 Days spinoff is also pretty good & short.

I didn't love Wolf Among Us, but I am enjoying Borderlands & Game of Thrones.

The food management put me off a bit, I didn't even realise you had to eat for the first 10 or so minutes of gameplay until I had no HP left.

I've seen clips from Borderlands so keen to try it out and will probably hit up Season 2. Thanks for help. Trying to talk myself out of the Telltale Collection. I'm a terrible impulse buyer sometimes.

This happened to me too. Didn't mind the game but it really lacked some polish. Broken achievements etc.

Ha! I did the same thing. I noticed you have to figure a lot on your own playing this, but the game isn't punishing. If you missed a spot you needed to get to, it will eventually show up again further ahead.

Borderlands is amazing seems to be held up with Wolf Among Us and WD Season 1 as some of their best output.

Game of Thrones is TellTale's worst since Jurassic Park. Even as a fan of the show it's painfully slow with hamfisted cameos and abysmal art direction. Working through it is a chore while Borderlands I eagerly await every new episode.

Walking Dead season 2 is a step down. But I think in retrospect people have softened to it a bit now that the disappointment that it didn't meet season 1's heights has diminished.

The TT collection is a solid deal. Maybe wait for the XMas sale to get a good deal on it?
