Do any of you actually wear a fedora?

Which of these socially questionable clothing items do you use?

Ain't nothing wrong with shorts. I'm not going to go to a beach and wear pants. Also I'm a college student still so I think I can still get away with skate shoes.

Shorts being fashionably questionable is absurd but funny enough I haven't worn shorts much at all this summer. The stuff I had was too worn out and stuck with pants for casual wear. I only used athletic shorts where needed or possibly needed. I guess I don't see shorts as much of a summer necessity as I used to. I definitely need some cargo shorts for next year though. I can detect gaffers by the dirty looks I'll get out in public.

Out of all those options, GAF thinks shorts are the most questionable? What?

Read the question again. More gaffers wear shorts than any of the other options.

Examples of good short fits:

As a 40 year old man I say the following with the utmost of sincerity...
If you care how another person dresses and or even worse, you judge another person because of how they dress, you are a pathetic person.
I bet this guy wears shorts, what a fucking nerd

I remember when I was in gym a long time ago there was a kid who would wear basketball shorts that almost went down to his shoes. We nicknamed him Mcshorts.

I wore a Trilby for a year in college because I was in a dance group and it matched my attire at the time. Once the brony stereotypes came out, I stopped wearing the hat because I didn't want to associate with the stereotypes. I can understand the hatred for trilbies with regular tee shirts because it looks horrible imho but I can't understand the hate for Jorts. I love my jorts and I can't imagine my summers without them.

What I will never understand is why the fedora is so popular amongst the Internet "gentlemen". The group who is very vocal about style and being kind to women.

Is it because the fedora is an item closely related to the classic look popular in the era where the fedora was a part of the gentleman's wardrobe?

I just find it ironic that they try to mimic this look when the view on women at the time was shit.

I guess it fits since they all look shit with their tiny Trilbys made for infants. Style isn't really in the items you were, it's how you make them look natural.

I'm fucking dying at the people hating on the nice shorts that liliththepale posted.

Those are the kinds of shorts that normal, well adjusted people wear.

Maybe at your country-club fraternity for junior republicans.

I often find the so called "internet gentleman" hold shitty views on women so it's fitting.

My best guess is that these dudes feel scorned by modern day masculinity (whatever the fuck that is, I guess working out and being a frat boy) and long for what they see as "classic" masculinity which includes suits and fedoras, in an attempt to "stand out" and win over the hearts of girls everywhere who long for the days of "traditional" romance. Unfortunately they have no idea why any of that shit looked good on the people who wore it

Look at that nerdburger in his cargos, chicks must hate him.

Beckham is good looking but that looks terrible.

We call these tourist shorts in Florida. Only ever see them on the Europeans.

Would make sense considering the opposite stereotype is true. When I see someone with baggy cargo shorts I assume that they're from the US.

And all this stuff about going hiking in cargo shorts just doesn't make sense to me. Do you not get chaffing? When I go tramping I'll generally wear short shorts and if it's cold some thermals underneath, if it's really fucking cold and windy I'll wear the typical windproof overpants.

Are American men scared of showing thigh? Serious question.

Short shorts definitely aren't something most North American men would ever wear.

But we do have Chino shorts. (Well fitting too sometimes)

So none of this?

This is from an ad, this isn't considered fashionable at all it's generally something your farmers or league players wear. Wearing short shorts is pretty socially acceptable though.
