September 2015 NPD (U.S. Hardware) Predictions - Closes October 13th

Today is the day. Thread will be boring though. All talk will be about October. Can't wait to see how MGSV did. Hoping for one million plus.

I think it won't be so much as to who won, but by how much really.

The wait for cream pie will probably be a long one, unless Sony feels like sharing ... :(

September.

What could possibly make you feel XB1 sold the most in September? PS4 had the TTK LE Bundle that seems to have sold really well. Not to mention MGSV released, and we all know Metal Gear is primarily a Playstation franchise.

I predicted a 64k gap, with PS4 selling only 307k. By now I'm quite sure I was really low-balling it.

Xbone Halo 5 is taking so long to get stream.
It is a bit weird.
I don't think a $500 bundle will get that much "steam" aside from the hardcore (many of which are probably getting it as a second console), but I'm suprised a $349 one isn't coming along (yet)

They probably want to make as money as possible with Halo 5. MS is using Tomb Raider and Fallout 4 for "low budget" bundle.

I think if Microsoft will do a cheaper Halo bundle this holiday they'll wait until after the game releases. They're getting a lot of money from hyped hardcore Halo fans with the $500 bundle.

Amazon montly (now daily on neogaf) updated for October:

#21: PS4 TLOU
#28: PS4 TTK
#30: PS4 BF - November
#33: XB1 Halo
#39: PS4 UC
#61: PS4 CoD - November

3 days left till Halo Bundle launch, anybody think it can catch up to TTK? (343 vs Bungie)
Monthly updated again (surprised how often it updates these days tbh)

#21: PS4 TLOU
#28: PS4 TTK
#29: PS4 BF le - November
#32: XB1 Halo 5
#37: PS4 UC
#59: PS4 1tb COD - November

Probably the last time before Sept NPD hits.

thing is gonna sell a lot...I think you guys are reading too much into it.
Games... yes... consoles... doesn't seen to be selling that too much right now.

Halo 5 game is at #4 in the Amazon Oct ranking just behind three PSN cards... it is the top selling game by a good margin.

It's high up there on the console bundle too even with the extortionate $499 price tag. They are milking the halo fans as I expected they would do a while ago before the price and bundle was announced. It's a good strategy for them. They then can offer cheaper bundles during black friday because of it.

Um the Halo 5 bundle is selling INCREDIBLY well considering it's $500. Are people just being contrarian or something?

Since this is an NPD thread, they aren't looking at how it is selling in a vacuum. They are looking at how it is selling in comparison to the competition. And right now, there are about 4 PS4's that are selling just as well as the Xbox One Halo Bundle (well, at least on Amazon).

However, the Halo Bundle sold well in August on Amazon (didn't chart top 100 in September) so there are a lot of sales that aren't being calculated in the October Best Sellers.

But the same came be said for Star Wars and COD PS4 Bundles. They will have a couple of months of built up preorders to boost their sales, just like Halo will.

It's not just the bundle, it's XB1 overall, if people are making a decision of choosing a cheaper SKU, a cheaper SKU would actually sell, but that isn't the case here, it's the only SKU in the top 50.

The August sales of the Halo bundle are what people are forgetting. Could tip things in MS's favor.

The Star Wars and COD PS4 bundles won't count until November, though, not October.

For October my best will still be on PS4. I think Halo bundle is a little overpriced and that might be reason XBox One might lose. It will still be close though.

This is gonna be a looooooooooooooooooooooooooong NPD before the numbers... i think we will see soon 3DS performance as usual, because will be up YOY like always (Jan-Sep), but i doubt XB1 will be up YOY, and even if will, i can't see a big increase since last year sold really good.
I don't think MS will release a XB1 increase YOY... maybe will do like Nintendo with 3DS and say the total XB1 increase januray to September, hope so. Or maybe the MOM increase.

If XB1 is over 300k, then maybe MS will release a YOY increase compared to last year September. And as the usual, we will know WIU / PS4 after Cream graph...

Definitely agree with that. It seems to be a bigger issue with the other xbox bundles not performing well on Amazon but the H5 bundle is definitely not slacking.

And as 3rdamention mentioned, those August pre-orders are added on top of this. I think it could actually be leading all of the ps4 bundles if you accounted for those.

August is a slow month and it could be easier to achieve a better rank in the chart so we have to wait and see.

PS4 has 2 *new game* bundles in October coupled with the new price drop, versus just Halo at the tail end of the month. Tbh would be shocked to see them lose Oct. Now as for november..that will be very interesting because of all the variables at play

I think the idea (and not sure if I agree with that, but regardless, it's what people are bringing up) is that while the Halo edition comes out tomorrow, the actual Halo 5 game won't be out until the following week, so perhaps sales of the other editions of the console will pick up by then.

I definitely expected at this point for the other versions to be picking up steam (and, hell, be way ahead of the $500 bundle).

If anything, I'd argue the $500 version is doing very well and above what I personally expected. It's the soft demand (for now) of the other ones that may turn out surprising if it doesn't pick up, IMO.

PS4's November is huge thanks to Battlefront and COD. IMO November is on lock, while October is anyone's game.

It's only been up for the first three months of the New 3DS launch, and I know you're not talking about YTD because you're also referring to the Xbox One here.

Most games are sold in the first couple days anyway. That's why you always see people posting that they are shocked ________ game did really well with just 3 or 4 days even though it's pretty par for the course for a blockbuster game.

The norm is that game sales are extremely frontloaded. Games that don't sell huge numbers the first week and then do significant numbers the weeks and months after that are the exception.

All I care about for September is to know who wins between Disney Infinity/Skylanders/LEGO. I'm incredibly curious about this, and where they place on the top 10 (if at all)

I think definitely not lego. Every store i go to the shelves are just filled with them. I know my stores are not THAT good at restocking.

No, i talking about YTD :) and yeah, i also mention XB1, but in that case i didn't specific this because that's what MS always do.

Nintendo: total YOY increase
Microsoft: YOY increase that month

About 3DS YOY sales, i know was up only for 3 months after New version, i also predict will be down this month as well. :P

XBO at $299? It will easily outsell PS4.

Where are these delusions coming from regarding Xbox One dropping to $299 this Holiday?

As if Microsoft wants to annihilate their profits even further, and devalue their already devalued console further.

And before anyone says they have billions, they are still running a business after all.

Sony really wants to win October
