We shouldn't give this people attention. We are just giving voice to idiots. (not criticizing the OP, though)
There was no internet then.
I feel like this is a 4chan sort of thing where they create the chaos to see what happens.
It's hilarious to see people legitimately using the hashtag because they're that racist.
Who is this character? I'm not really caught up with Star Wars lore.
Yeah so they couldn't tweet it but you could still get a news story out of it.
haha, I am actually surprised it took so long
just wait until they find out both leads are English
#BoycottStarWarsVII - people are super mad that SWVII has a nonwhite lead
This brings up an interesting question: If someone says something obviously racist to troll, is that racism?
My wife and I were talking about this last night. Lando was a pretty central character in ESB and ROTJ. Do they hate those movies? He wasn't the LEAD per se, but he was in them quite a bit. What difference does it make? The whole thing seems really stupid.
Who hurt this woman?
I'm sure this was coordinated by /tv/ users.
A small, very vocal group of white supremacist shitposters on that board are furious that John Boyega was cast, and are convinced that it's part of a Jewish plot to get white women to have sex with black men. I'm not kidding.
Much of this is really how people feel versus how much of it is just hyperbolic trolling or baiting?
Don't know a single person that I've talk to about this film the care is that all that one of the lead characters is black. Not a single word about that has ever come up.
A lot of those things really read like parodies of conservative extremism.
Probably not. There's "news" stories out of this because they were enabled by social media.
There has definitely been a racist reaction to John Boyega playing one of the leads, to the point Boyega told people to get used to it.Don't know a single person that I've talk to about this film the care is that all that one of the lead characters is black. Not a single word about that has ever come up.
Oh God, I remember that post.I agree with this. Andrew Garfield would have made a better lead, he's more warrior-like.
These people are serious? Fuck that pisses me off.

This will never not be funny
100% free advertising for the film.Luke O'neil's got it down.

who's the lead character?
the black stormtropper?
True but if a bunch of asshole back then had tried to picket, there would have been news. I don't remember anything but I was too young to understand the burden of the white people![]()

#BoycottStarWarsVII because white children deserve wholesome movies, not more PC anti-white diversity crap.
Well, by now I would expect that the hashtag would be hijacked by the left. Or hell, not even the left, just people who aren't assholes. But the idea that there are people out there who won't watch a movie because it has a black lead is enraging, just because I hadn't considered someone would react that way. Like, open, proud racism. I thought racism was some thing people won't really own up to but participate in, usually subconsciously. Or say, "I'm not racist, but black people (stereotype here)." Not, "don't show me brown people. I can't even look at them." What the fuck, man.A good number of them aren't actually serious.
A precious selection of them are perfectly serious, or at least they're able to keep the kayfabe up for over a year if a casual perusal of their twitter feed is any indication.
