Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition - Before & After Changes

This game is so deep and so much fun to play. As far as turn based games go its easily the game of the generation. The AI is so good too.

I really want to see more turn based games on consoles. I hope this game does well enough to have a console cult following over time and more PC developers are encouraged to bring their turn based games over.

The bottom line is, it's not the same game. Aside from the money split due to retail and publishing stuff, Larian has put significant effort into making it a console-quality game; I think sheer effort poured into rewriting and voicing the entire game would be proof enough of this.

None of these "enhanced edition" games are the "same game". If they really think adding in voice acting (which Wasteland 2 has done) and porting the game over (which Diablo 2 has done) justifies the cost that's fine. I still shirk at it as I've never seen a developer do this before. Maybe they have and I just hadn't been paying attention, but we get feature rich, reworked editions of games all the time and they all seem to launch at similar price points or go down in price. Not up.

Divinity: Original Sin is $40 on PC not $30.

Correct. What's your point?

How is this game with friends? I've been looking for a multiplayer experience like NWN for years, saw this game, but when I saw the combat, I was instantly turned off.

What do they mean by 'Entirely new gameplay modes'?
Like, can you play the game in non turnbased mode?

No they are referring to the new difficulty systems.

- There is a casual mode that's super easy.
- There is 'classic' mode which is balanced difficulty wise about on par with the vanilla game.
- There is Tactician mode which is a new difficulty where all the battles have been completely redesigned to be more challenging and complex.
- And lastly there is Honor mode which is a single save ironman, you're a crazy person mode.

Looking forward to playing this with a controller this time, starting over, and trying to stick with the game until I finish it. I wish more games would start adding controller options on the PC.

Does the steam controller kinda force controller support by acting like mouse and keyboard? If it does I guess I should get it.

Yeah. Anything without controller support will recognize the Steam controller as a m/kb. I think even stuff like a Dreamcast.

Where did I say it was an Action RPG?

Do I have to spell it out? Diablo 3 is an aRPG and D:OS is not. You're being really obtuse with this response because this is very obvious. Just stop now. D3 and DOS are not even worth comparing, which is the point I was making. One can't tell if someone might like DOS based on liking D3. There is really no room for argument but you seem to love it so whatever. You're clearly here just to argue over every little thing.

Great. What's your point?

Which you did by whining about a supposed shared quality no one said existed between the games, least of all myself.

One can't tell if someone might like DOS based on liking D3.

You're right. No one who likes RPG's or games with RPG elements and local co-op would ever say they liked both games for that reason.

Seriously what a doozy of a detour. . .

Yeah but its really difficult to answer with this game being turn based, comparing with game that you killing 500 mon in 5 minute.

Can only tell when your wife try by herself.

Gameplay and pacing is obviously different. I assumed that the guy who was asking the question at least could see that.

I suppose the original poster should have mentioned WHY his wife liked D3 - that would have saved a lot of forum posturing and finger wagging.

Everyone's voiced? Everyone? It makes me want to buy it again, the walls of text were the worst thing. What was said added so much character to the game but there was just too much to read, too often.

I hope 2 is fully voiced from the get go!

Do you think the PC version gonna have a discount the 27 october ? My friend is only waiting for a sale before getting it if he can save 20$

I don't think DOS had Honor Mode (ironman). Tactician(?) Mode was completely revamped as well.

Ah, I see.
That sounds pretty great.

Who cares what the original version cost on PC? The question is whether or not the Enhanced Edition is worth full price on console. You'd run into some trouble trying to argue it isn't, I think.

It's perfectly manageable to play with all 4 characters on your own, even with the Lone Ranger thing,it must be hell for the first few level with only one character...not kidding guys when I say this game is hard at first.

I just want to know how going from couch co-op to online will work. Does my friend have to have the same save data and such?

You join the host's game, you don't bring your own character, but you can make the second Source Hunter if you start the campaign in coop. So you can play local coop and then continue online, and if you stop playing together the host can continue the game by himself.

I believe co-op games will be independent of single player games. So long as it's on the same campaign it should flow from local to online, but I don't think you'll be able to hop in on some random character anytime you want.

I searched for local co-op videos on Youtube, and found Original Sin 2 local co-op video instead. Wow, the sequel looks so polished already even though they're aiming for December 2016 release.

Same engine, same tools, many of the same assets and mechanics, and they've been working on it for well over a year already. It's (IMO) the golden standard for what mid-tier independent studios should be doing with their franchises.

I actually want to get a ps4 or xbox one just to play the couch co-op for this game. Some many great memories playing co-op on dark alliance and champions of norrath. And I like how when the players are far apart, the screen will split in half like in the lego games. I was watching a dev video where they showed one player in a cave doing a quest while the 2nd player was on the surface doing their own thing.

Wasn't really interested in the game, but after seeing that guy's enthusiasm I want it on day one.

Now, logic suggests to grab the PC version, but couch coop is usually better on consoles...

All the updates sound fantastic, it's amazing the amount of work put into this.

Also, this is how you do a proper release with the console porting instead of fucking over the pc version trying to make the game for everyone with a priority on console.
From the videos, UI with gamepad looks well done.

Like others have said, it's unfortunate that it's coming out at this time though.
