New full body look at The Joker from 'Suicide Squad'

Maybe I'm wrong, but his looks remind me of Grant Morrison's Joker or All Star Batman and Robin's Joker. I haven't read the latter, I'm judging from a couple of images I saw on google.

I like that they're going for a different Joker.

Reminds me of how The Batman after The Batman Animated Series had a very different type of Joker.

Got to change it up.

I think he looks fine. It's good that he looks completely different from before, and I dug his little scene in the trailer for sure.

"But at the same time it was very painful, like giving birth out of my prick hole."

At first I was down on it, but you know what? Joker has been significantly different in every depiction put to screen. I welcome this new drug lord Joker, and for the love of God no he isn't Jason Todd.

Imagine the Joker just escapes out of Arkham. His henchmen give him his purple coat and his cane. He rocking his Arkham sweats. Have some vision people.

Trying too hard. But it should appeal to the audience they're going for, I guess.

The entire suicide squad promotion leading up to this movie has been ultra tryhard.

The reason I've heard for this is because of the mysticizing of Heath Ledger's performance as 'the role that killed him,' so to top him Jared Leto's got to be SO FUCKING CRAZY GUYS that you get articles about how he mailed other actors DEAD RATS and does his edgy JOKER VOICE to hecklers at Thirty Seconds to Mars concerts and his co-stars are worried he's ACTUALLY TURNING INTO THE JOKER.

"there was this one mudvayne music video i saw back in college and i think that would be cool as hell if he looked like that"

vision.

Looks like Gaf is full of fashion designers.

I like how they are changing the game. Love new takes. I hope it works somehow.

Least they bothering to do something new not just copy what done before and fully embrace a over the top and insane look

This.

If WB had played it safe and just copied the look of either Nicholson or Ledger's Joker everyone would be up in arms about it. They try something new that we haven't seen on screen before and everyone still isn't happy.

I would wait until the film itself (or, at the very least the next trailer) hits before throwing the whole thing under a bus.

But they ARE playing it safe. There's all this side press about how GUYS, THE ROLE IS ACTUALLY CONSUMING JARED LETO, HE MIGHT ACTUALLY START KILLING PEOPLE HE'S SO IN CHARACTER (by mailing dead rats to his co-stars) in the sense that they're trying to show that he's trying to surpass Heath Ledger as being in character for his role.

How's that "playing it safe"?

Still looking great, looks like an interesting interpretation. He's such a fun character I hope they do a lot of crazy different stuff with him. Still so far off though, damn the wait.

Appreciate their courage to change things up, but different doesn't mean better.

How's that "playing it safe"?

Because it's the lamest publicity stunt ever and is just riding off of Heath Ledger's coattails by essentially amping up the crazy up to eleven and 'outdo him' because Ledger did such an amazing performance AND THEN HE DIED?

I have to admit, I don't mind the "street thug" vibe of the film.

It's basically saying "we can do neon and bright colors but make it look dope, in a dope yet dopey way". Schumacher is like waaah.

Yes, new things try to outdo old things. Good observation.
It's just what I was saying earlier about the fact that Heath Ledger's role means they have to live up to Heath Ledger's performance. They could have just taken it in a different direction instead of advertising it as the acting equivalent of a Halo-killer.

It's all down to the performance. If Leto does a good job, the look will be seen as an essential part of his character. If it's a bad performance the look will just another reason why his Joker is bad.

All live action Jokers looks silly without the context of their performance.

It's amazing how many people are getting hung up on Arkham's sweatpants. Wayne needs to donate a truck full of nice slacks. Or Arkham clearly just needs everyone to stay in costume so nobody gets confused.

They haven't mentioned Ledger once. And yes, they're advertising a new, sadistic take of one of pop-fiction's most iconic villains, as played by one of Hollywood's more beloved method actors.

Well golly, he looks damaged beyond all heck!

I mean, gee wilikers folks, that ain't my daddy's Joker!

WB genuinely wants this reaction.

Yep. There's no inherent problem with that, it's just the way they're going about it is the lamest thing ever:
