Did he actually get "Joker" tattooed on his tums?
He got like 30 stupid ass tats

Reminds me of that entire early 2000s era of people trying too hard.

I mean my dude here looks like he is going to go to Gamestop to grab that pre-order beanie from Shadow the Hedgehog.

I guess in a sense, it is the natural evolution of Man of Steel's god awful attempt at being a competent movie.

I just don't understand why they can't go the fantastical route for the designs of their characters, it is that element in Marvel movies that are making them blockbuster hits and allowed continually success in the box office.

Sadly, I don't think Leto will be given the agency to do a performance on the par of any of the other Jokers due to the nature of the film.

He looks like McCauly Culkin robbed a Sephora, became a member of the Insane Clown posse, then raided Snoop Dogg's closet after picking up some sweatpants on clearance at Hollister. Just terrible. Ultimately it's the performance that matters most so I won't discount this Joker completely, but fuck, this design is just the worst.

I don't like the sweat pants. suit pants and suspenders shirtless would have been badass.

They are prison pants, because he's in the process of breaking out of prison. It really should not be that hard to put 2 and 2 together with regards to the pants.

Like, the design is obnoxious, but I think that's the point. Look at the references they keep bringing up. People who are obnoxiously gaudy. It's the kind of thing that will make normal people find him annoying and wonder how he has this hold over his minions (and Harley). He and Ledger Joker are two sides of the same coin with regards to the design. As if Ledger's design wasn't geared and embraced by the goth Hot Topic crowd.

When has the character of Joker NOT been a try-hard?

geezus you guys never been to jail?

What a waste of brilliant casting. I wish Hollywood would realize that they aren't trendy or 'hip' and they never will be. Bring back immaculate tuxedo Joker.

I'm not down on the DC Universe yet but you could be right.

I mean I remember the promo pics for Ledger's Joker looking really off and weird for some reason.

But in the film he looks fantastic.

No, in the film his performance outshines the terrible "edgy" design that Nolan and the makeup department came up with. TDK's design is also a lame attempt to be "dark" that totally fails. Suicide squad is just doubling down on that strategy.

Apparently, it's lost on WB that the joker is frightening precisely because he's not dark. It's the contrast between his bright appearance and his horrible acts that makes him interesting.

I like the design feels like the love child of Dr Frank n Furter, Marilyn Manson and David Bowie (although I do like that they acknowledged Mexican drug cartels). The stuffy Victorian 3 piece is traditional but its played out, time to shake it up.

Jesus CHRIST

The only thing that bothers me is that we are finally getting a connected continuity DC Cinematic universe, and this is th Joker we are stuck with. For a one shot "else worlds" story I wouldn't mind. But for the mainline continuity I wanted a traditional Joker.

I love how people on the internet think they know better and their suggestions are great.

Regardless of Leto's performance, I really don't like this aesthetic of this character and haven't from the start. Still excited for SS though.

Seriously.

People seem to forget every other representation of the Joker other than Ledger's, which was admittedly fantastic, has been as a gaudy, over the top, flamboyant try-hard.

That purple overcoat and pimp cane is spot-on. I only hope he gets ever more fabulous throughout.

"When I hate the something, the something won't disappoint me when I hate the something."

I would rather be disappointed 100 times a day and live my life excited about things, to experience the wonder of things. To see the positive of things.

You know, I feel like Joker is currently on the run during the movie's main plot. We all assumed he was currently locked up but really I don't see a reason to think that.

Much better, but the grills and the tattoos are still terrible.

Good point, we "people on the internet" should leave it to the pros. Like the execs that green lit Superman IV, Batman and Robin, or Green Lantern. They are neither people, nor 'on the internet', which is why they get paid the big bucks.

They aren't people?

Wut?

lol sweat pants

It's like they hired someone specifically to design exactly the opposite of what I think is good. It's impressive just how much they've managed to avoid all of my tastes.

The writing and performance could still change my mind but of course all I've got to go on now is visuals.

Looks like the white kid from high school who used to sell me weed and would try to get people to give him $5 for a burned copy of his rap album at lunch.
