Sony : Paris Games Week press conference dated

So its like 15 hours till the conference, are we seriously saying there have been zero leaks? What kind of a tight ship is Sony running? This is either gonna be a horrible conference or Sony have an absolute belter of a conference coming up tomorrow. Im going for the latter.

SCEE has always had the best ninjas.

Impressed/worried that nothing has leaked. Either means that Sony has kept a really tight lid or there isn't any major news coming tomorrow. I might bail out of gaf until the conference now just in case something leaks.
A lot of people know stuff to be leaked, even on this forum, but simply decided this time not to do so.

I don't know...
Wish I was wrong but I don't think will be any expressive game announcements.

PlayStation Experience is right around the corner, they need to hold stuff to show there.

I would be happy with some surprises, but I will hold my horses for now.

I think some of you put too much stock into PSX.

It's almost purely a fan event . Last year gave us a few big announcements but it wasn't on the level of an E3 or a Gamescom.

PGW is Sony's replacement for Gamescom this year. There are going to be announcements and it will likely be more than we'll see at PSX in December.

Street Fighter V is bigger than anything we'll see at PGW or Gamescom previously. PSX absolutely does get big announcements.

No, they have enough games tba between those two events.

One BIG reveal does not equal an E3 or a Gamescom. And since PGW is essentially Sony's Gamescom showing this year, it's highly likely to feature multiple announcements.

Cool. None of the DICE/Battlefront twitters I follow have even mentioned PSW.
Its at the booth atleast.
Finally, if you’re heading to Paris Games Week, make sure you swing by the massive PlayStation booth where you’ll be able to check out a hefty selection of upcoming titles, including Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Star Wars Battlefront, and Ratchet & Clank.

I wonder if they will announce the November PS+ games at the show.

If so might have something special coming next month.

Now that Destiny has released, surely we won't see anytime dedicated to that at least.

Right...?

Wouldnt be shocked if they announced their first free mini DLC thing. We still dont really know what the post release support for TTK is.

also as the Mods have stated, there may be people who know things and could leak but the idea of leaking has been hit lately. Most people don't want leaks anymore.
Yeah speaking generally as both a gamer and daily reader/user on GAF it's just not fun to have leaks and ruin the surprise for yourself (and everyone else). Speculation is cool, but hype can turn into an ugly thing. Excitement gets the better of us all sometimes sure but on the whole I like the sense of surprise and wonder, and outside of my own projects deliberately keep myself in the dark about other things. For me it's the same as avoiding too many movie teasers and OT threads for spoilers, the final experience is better for it; i feel that applies to conferences and the games themselves.

Completely agree.

I'd actually like it if they used PGW to finish the years new announcements and use PSX as a means of showing a " this is Playstation " type show

where they show new gameplay footage and have playable demo's of a lot of games announced through the past years.

The Witness - new footage + playable
Rime - new footage + release date
WiLD - new footage + release date
Street Fighter 5 - public beta / demo release
Uncharted 4 - public demo
Ratchet and Clank - public demo
Alienation - public demo

Shenmue 3 - first footage
Final Fantasy VII-R - first footage
Nier 2 - first footage
DQXI - new footage
FFXV - new footage
DQ Builders - new footage / playable
No Mans Sky - new footage / playable / release date
Horizon - new footage / playable
Dreams - new footage / playable
TLG - new footage

stuff like that. Use the whole year to build up all these announcements and such and then use PSX to hammer home those announcements with great new footage and playable demos and demo's released to the public on PSN of hotly anticipated titles. Just use the mantra " This Is Playstation " to showcase the diversity and quality. It could be like the end of the year party for Playstation encompassing the great stuff from throughout the year and allowing people on site and on PSN to get some hands on with some anticipated games.

Which is in response to you saying the PSX announcements aren't on the same level as the Gamescom ones. So, how would I know to reply to that piece of your post too if I simply glanced over what you said?

Why would you legitimately want that? There are thousands of other games in other genres that can give you what you're looking for if you're not into the games Quantic Dream makes.

If QD has talent, why should they be pigeon-holed into making the same thing over and over again?

I never said this. I said the number of announcements at PSX was smaller than you'd normally see at a traditional conference.

Again, some of you put too much stock into PSX. Sony isn't going to have a light showing tomorrow in order to have a bunch of content lined up for December.

I'm gonna be that guy and have some odd, probably dumb, left fieldy predictions.

-star wars LBP pack announced

- New footage of wattam shown with release date

- a dormanted series that has a huge fanbase is getting a continuation and is coming to PS4

- PlayStation Now's launch date or window for mobile and PC announced

- a new ps plus perk

- trophy support for PlayStation classics for ps3 / PS vita / and ps4 (if it gets backwards compatiblity and/or if PlayStation 1 & 2 classics coming to ps4's store)

The situation is analogous to the CIA during the Cold War. Agents had very little knowledge what their colleagues were planning. This was the only way to minimise the damage from spies. I recall Adam Boyes saying after E3 that they are using codewords internally when discussing projects.

"A few big announcements" are still more than what we get at most Gamescom.

Honestly, I was being generous with that statement.

Street Fighter V was the only "big" announcement. Stuff like Yakuza 5 and Day of the Tentacle Remastered, while awesome, are not what I would consider huge. PSX mainly consisted of those types of reveals.

Honestly, the biggest moment at PSX, outside of SFV, was the first gameplay of Uncharted 4.

Again, PSX is great. But I'd be shocked if Sony held all of their cards for that event, especially considering they've already stated tomorrow is going to be a pretty big deal.

Err dude:

You're talking about the size of the announcements, not the number. Anyway, there was a ton of announcements at PSX last year, just check the OP, under announcements:

Im expecting this to be a E3 recap with a ton of indies and the new Quantic Dream game.

GT7 will be MIA again

Outside of the 3rd party holiday games I am not expecting updates on much of anything big that was announced at E3 here.

Shenmue 3, FFVIIR and TLG will all probably get updates at PSX.

Horizon and Uncharted will be mentioned quickly. Maybe we get details on Uncharted MP I guess since that beta is close.

Im hoping for Quantic Dreams and Sony Bend reveals and lots of release dates for currently announced games like Rime and FF7 port.'

Also i'll be taking a bit of a long lunch to watch this.

I can also cherry pick very small games for different Gamescoms to make a point but I'm not gonna. All I will say is Sony hasn't revealed a game in the same league as Street Fighter at Gamescom (the biggest game to be revealed at Gamescom is probably LBP) and that shows Sony think PSX is more than just a fan convention.
