Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Fell asleep after the post 80% patch download debacle.

Woke up this morning with just enough time to squeeze in a few matches. They were all pretty laggy. Sucks but it was fun. Won the first and had two god awful teams after that. We didn't even break 20.

I can't wait to get back home and dig in to it. It feels so weird playing halo again. Takes awhile to adjust. I'm excited.
 
Rejoice! My Champion rank is still there.. Dropped down a few places but wahoo! Screw you Halo Channel app, I'm not Onyx just yet.
 
I know it's early, but does the multiplayer for this game feel much more "halo" than halo 4? And do you think you'll be playing it for months? That's key for me.
 
Well, credits are rolling. Took me 9 hours and 28 minutes on Heroic Solo. (With the random system update somewhere in there)


Enjoyed the hell out of it. Though the ending was a bit more Finish the Fighty than I would prefer. Story wasn't bad, though it also wasn't the best in the series. I really wonder about the people who said it was incomprehensible, or they didn't understand what was happening. Also didn't rely on extended universe stuff as much as I thought (or even hoped) it would.


Overall, well worth the wait and the money despite small disappointments here and there.


On to try the multiplayer!!

Btw quick question, could you pass this on if needed. Is it intentional that there is no chat between fireteam members at the main menu/between games? It makes me want to go into a party but then we wouldn't be able to communicate with randoms.

It's a pain especially after a game when you want to ask what peeps want to play and nobody can hear.

I was gonna take the day off and an employee got sick so I couldn't make this Halo 5 day. Enjoy guys, I'll be back all day tomorrow :P
 
To all you with the game could anyone tell me if they added any new bumper jumper variants? I need a "Destiny style" bumper jumper with the ADS on left trigger and sprint on left stick L3 depress... anything like that exist? I know it didnt in the beta and i had to play on FishSticks.

I've played 2 hours so far, no lag at all, absolutely instant match making. Even Warzone matches every loads of people have headsets and do teamwork.

3 matches in it's hard to tell. it definitely has the feel of evolution on traditional Halo mechanics. still slower than CoD but faster than previous entries. I need to see BTB to see if it works for me but warzone looks like a good intro into larger scale conflicts.

It'll be a hard hole to dig themselves out of though.

Halo 2 setup a situation where humanity was able to win without significant deus ex machina soace magic in the sequel, unlike Halo 4, or Mass Effect 2, which contributed to the ending debacle of ME3.

HaloGAF Community Launch Montage!

Perhaps somewhat foolishly, I have volunteered myself to once again create a community montage for HaloGAF. You can see my previous work, the Halo 5 Beta Montage here.

This is a pretty big undertaking, and I'm assuming the contribution of clips to myself will be of a high volume. So there are a few rules:

1) Open to anyone on NeoGAF
2) All clips must be recorded using the Xbox Game DVR application.
3) All clips must ideally be 30 seconds long at most to allow for some leeway during editing.
4) A link must be supplied from either xboxclips.com or xboxdvr.com - in order to allow me to download them, you may need to alter your privacy settings.
5) All clips MUST be emailed to halogafmontage@gmail.com with the appropriate link to the clip.
6) Your email must include your Gamertag and NeoGAF username.
7) Submission entries will close on Saturday November 7th 2015.

Whilst I can mostly guarantee this one to be Taylor Swift free, I won't make any promises. I can't promise to use EVERY clip sent in, but your chances are higher the more awesome the clip.

I hope everyone enjoys the game (I know I have!) If you have a suggestion for the name of the Montage, please feel free to drop it in your email to me with your submissions.

I am just happy that I woke up at 5 in the morning after the update installed and was able to get a taste of the savory meal to come. Halo has never been better.
 
Oh no, just realized even though I am preoloaded I don't have the patch right?

My system is completely off too, been trying to fix the no achievement bug but turning off instant on. I wanted to play when I got home today too lol...

HellJumper is the closest to what you are asking, but it has sprint on A and the sticks are used for crouch and melee.

God lol... how the hell would someone play like that!? I swear developers come up with the craziest this control schemes.. (not talking about you 343i in specific... just in general). ALL games should allow the user to define what button does what (to an extent).

I heard you can remap the Xbox One buttons if you're in the preview program, correct? How can i tell if i am. I think I was esp. when Elite first came over... but havent used my xbox in quite some time... anybody have any idea? GamerTag: Gun Fer Hire
 
multiplayer is great. I mean they nailed it.

I AM TERRIBLE.

Need to really level up with some equally terrible people.
