Fallout 4 has gone gold; leaked gameplay vids

It's actually the other way around for me. I generally avoid trailers and stuff besides the reveal trailer. I hate trailers, so many spoilers in most of them.
They do have several videos on their youtube page though, from gameplay, to character system, to modding and customization.

I don't really want to know story spoilers.
But for example I'd like to know who the companions are and stuff.

How many points can we distribute to S.P.E.C.I.A.L again?

I am trying to find my perfect balance for my character.

28 total in the beginning:

There's also bobbleheads, but it is unknown at this time if they'll still give +1 to attributes, or if they'll bestow some other bonus. Still going with 9 INT myself, just in case.

28 although the game mandates a minimum of 1 point in each S.P.E.C.I.A.L stat so in practice the player only gets to chose where to assign 21 points at the start of the game. And in addition to the bobbleheads you can also skip a perk when levelling and increase a S.P.E.C.I.A.L stat as well.

If you play enough you can level all S.P.E.C.I.A.L skills to 10 and take every perk and rank. I think it's been calculated this is possible by level 370! It's also been confirmed that higher INT means you gain more experience (relative to lower INT) for everything you do so it's still a good choice for those who want to level relatively quickly.

I'd really like to know more about this in real game terms because it might mean going INT 9 (or 10) from the outset and sacrificing other stats lets you level so fast that you can bump the sacrificed stats with you powered levelling. Many A True Nerd did a good video on YouTube about this.

So should we put points into categories based on the perks we want?

Cause the general description for every special sounds good:(

I would plan SPECIAL according perks you want early on into the game. Then as you level up you can just pick up those core perks you aimed for, and put rank or two into them. Then use later level ups to increase SPECIAL to gain access to perks that you like, but didn't feel to be mandatory early on for your playstyle.

SPECIAL I'm planning, most likely one point moving from Perception to Charisma. Planned around playstyle I want go for with weapon type I want to use.

This is exactly what I've done. I know there are still some question marks over a fair few perks, particularly those 6+ deep in some S.P.E.C.I.A.L trees but you have 21 assignable points so 28 perks available at level one and there's more than enough "essential" perks for me not to even think a lot of increasing S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats level 30+

So I've worked my initial distribution knowing what skills will be a priority level 1-10, then 10-20 then 20-30. I also know roughtly which order I anticipate taking them, although the game may break that list.

The nice thing to remember is that can you fix any challenging initial distibution by toughing it out. Regretting not taking more STR, sacrifice a perk or two and bump that stat at your next level.

I ordered PC DVD version as the price was very good.

I really hope there isnt to much downloading :( 2mbit Internets is teh bad

I just want to know what helps lockpicking, terminal hacking and small arms (ie chinese rifle) ? Any help apprieicated :)

I still down know what kind of build I should go for. I'm playing a female so I want higher charisma but I don't know which perks would be better or fun. So best thing to do is keep all stats even.

Did people complain about being a postman in New Vegas?

I know I did. Part of the reason why I dislike NV over F3.

Oh please these games all have quest lines that must be followed to finish the game. The concept of a true blank slate is not possible. Even in NV you are still a guy/gal getting shot, an you still have to follow that quest.

Also I don't think there is a consensus that "people" usually want to do anything.

Yes there actually is a consensus. Ever hear of the notorious "alternate start" mod? There's a reason why it exists.

Not sure if you are aware, but you will be downloading a portion of the game with the physical PC versions, I don't know if the particular download size is known :(
I feel for you, my brother is on weak Internet and he bought GTA:V PC and got 9 DVD's and still had to download GB's of patches and that took a long time :(

Looks cool and all but wouldn't the head get stuck to the nails as soon as the head got torn off the body?

I understand the whole video is unrealistic but that's really sticking out to me.

Depends on force of the strike and object used to do striking. Something like baseball bat would cause mostly just [severe] cracks to the skull and cave it in, especially if hitting weaker area like face multiple times. Throw in some nails and you will do serious damage faster as those suckers would go through bone.

For head to explode like that we are talking about something like sledgehammer with inhumane striking strength. For head to be torn off... well considering amount of muscles, veins, nerves etc. attaching head to neck to rest of body it's extremely unlikely that head would be torn off clean.

Light topic of discussion, eh?

Yeah that's what I'm doing more or less. Except I want 1 extra point in intelligence because that category has some handy perks:

S 4
P 4
E 4
C 4
I 5
A 3
L 4

Looting options "Take" & "Transfer". Transfer where? To homebase or straight into pockets of companion? So many questions, so few answers.

Living dangerously...

A 7(8)
L 3

I'm flip flopping between Perception at 8 for Sniper or Agility at 8 for the extra AP since I'm gonna roll deep in VATS and I also feel like I'll eventually want Gun Fu as well. I'll need to bump up Int to 6 for Science! as I want to use energy weapons, need Charisma at 4 for Attack Dog, Luck will have to be boosted as well for Better Criticals.

The Homebase aspect is going to have me playing this game forever... Scavenging and building... I might not even do any quests.

I know I did. Part of the reason why I dislike NV over F3.

I hope the alternate start mod comes real quick.

Yeah see Vats isn't all that important to me. I usually neglect categories like S and E. However, looking at the perks, I determined I really need a 4 in each category. For example, weapon and armor building is tied into S. I might usually neglect P but then you have lockpicking I don't want to neglect either. So yeah, I'll start out having many of the base perks I want, and when I want another perk I can't reach, I'll just level up that Special.

Annoying to use the character stat create on this site because they only give you 21 of the 28 points to fool with.

Well that's the way the game works that's why. You have to have a 1 in every category. So therefore you can only add 21 points and not 28.

i think they said that you could transfer stuff directly to one of your settlements

Which means Str is useless stat for player who doesn't want do melee combat. Just rush early settlement up [I bet we get default one set up into our old house at beginning of game] and keep teleporting loot into there, while keeping only essentials on your person as you explore.

They give all 28. 7 are in SPECIAL right away because 1 is minimum value and then you can freely distribute rest 21.

Not a fan of that UI

Yeah, they really kept that "Put together in hour or so" look of UI from E3 :/

Except for weapon and armor modding are tied into Strength. The way they do perks, there really is no useless stat.
