Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

This game is fantastic. Aside from a few technical issues I've seen this game is almost a perfect evolution on halo in my mind.

Minor nitpick, I want more dramatic aesthetic differences between arena maps in DLC going forward.

One thing i dont understand is why halo 2 anniversary maps look better than most halo 5 maps, well i guess halo 2 anniversary has a problem keeping with 60 fps.

So, I'm not holding out much hope, but are the brutes back in this game? They were a really fun enemy and I would like to see them return. I haven't kept up with the EU stuff, is there anything official about what the brutes have been doing since Halo 3?

I'm probably talking out my ass here but didn't they leave the covenant when the prophet species fell out of power?

I've held off buying Halo 5 for now as I wanted to get some multiplayer feedback. I haven't had time to dig though this thread as I'm at work however for those of you that are now playing it (specifically team slayer as that's all I play), how are you finding the game?

Is it a radically different to halo 2/3 in terms of feel? I don't mind things changing up slightly (as per the change from 2 to 3, or even reach as I liked all of them), however I hope it hasn't lost the strategy and tactics that made up 2 and 3. I'm keen to understand if the game invokes the same emotions.

I'm currently playing H2A heavily at the moment and so badly want to pick up halo 5 but I'm not keen on buying another halo unless its at least as fun to play.

I saw on Reddit that it's better to install the game from the disc offline a and then comedy to the Internet to patch? They said it tries to install and download the patch at the same time then?

That goes for any physical game on X1. It prompts you to dl update which you skip and install the gm first..after its done patch is next. Case for MCC was kinna ridiculous, 20gb patch..shits not cool.

Everything I've seen is that the gameplay is one of the most solid Halo games ever and on par with 2/3, some are saying better but I'll have to play it first

This is the best damn multiplayer in years on any console. Halo feel modernized and incredibly fun. Also, matchmaking working flawlessly at launch? Wow.

I am so thrilled. Well done 343. You've surpassed my multiplayer hype.

I found a XBL Gold 14-Day Trial in the box. Haven't had Gold in months, so I redeemed it and it says: "You already have Xbox Live Gold. Try giving it to a friend, so he knows what he's missing." What the hell?

Join Us!! O_O

This isn't helping either

Alright, bout to arena with Eric WK, I'm spectating his game at the moment.

Been getting dunked on the past couple games. :O

Just finished 6 missions....

wow....

I don't know what people are saying.... The story is F-ing phenomenal....

I'm with you. I'm also at the same point and am taking a break for a few.

It seems a lot of the complaints are there, but to me it's not such a big deal. For example....

The visor. Yes, it takes up a portion of the screen. Do you recognize it while you are playing? IMO only if you are looking for it.

The weird 30fps animations. Yeah, they're weird. Some enemies look like a slideshow. Does it ruin the game? Not at all. Yeah it's weird, but that 60..... Oh yeah.

The length. I'm not going to go into different play styles or difficulty levels or anything but here's my experience. I just finished level 6 on legendary. My total play time so far is 5:14. The length is perfect for me.

Story? Yeah, having some knowledge of who Fred is or whatever may have come in handy, but it's not necessary.

In conclusion.... I'm loving this game and haven't even touched MP yet. It looks good (not great) and plays perfectly. Those new spartan abilities are welcome. People have every right to complain if the game is not what they wanted or were told (really IGN article?) but IMO this is a great game so far. Great job 343. My GT is Cheeseburgla if anyone wants to play.

This will be a topic to bring up at a later date I'm sure but I was curious what yall think of the weapon balance so far? Any glaring issues? Its balanced really well as far as I can tell.

Fucking hell, I thought I'd try assembling the little metal statue whilst the game installs.

This is a nightmare.

Edit: aaaaand 5 minutes after starting I've broken it.

I just noticed something I think. My Req packs from Digital Deluxe edition are there but I don't think I actually got them in game.. Anyone run into this?

Not really. Everything seems pretty damn balanced I think. Course I don't play competitively and am far from even good.

Tried another MP match this morning and our team lost 100-12

Had 2 teammates send me messages after that I suck. Why do people bother taking the time to do that kind of shit? Everyone is just learning the game

If you guys lost 100-12, the other 2 that messages you weren't exactly lighting it up either...

Completely forgot I was playing on Heroic. Can't imagine how easy Normal mode is.

Part of the reason why I found the first level so disappointing is because of how easy it is, BUT I'm hesitant to increase difficulty because level design is extremely confusing to me in this game. Enemies constantly end up being behind my back... Visor taking up 20% of the screen doesn't help...

Doooooisac. Dooooooisac. Doi? Sac! The Brute homeworld everybody, they could've named it anything but they named it Doisac.

Oh god. That grunt. My nephew and I sit there and Listened to the whole thing. Probably a good 10 minutes of this grunt going on. We were dying from laughing so hard. First time I've laughed that hard from a grunt since probably the original Halo.

As someone who is not all that into Halo's story and lore, I'm really just looking for a single player FPS with satisfying weapons, varied environments and strong encounter design. Does Halo 5 fit the bill?

Yes cause the story is shit. It's much like Destiny really. Awesome gunplay will keep you engaged.
