Detroit: Become Human (Quantic Dream) Announced for PS4

from XANDERCAGE, for EatChildren, a script leak

Lol. Is this for real?

Meh, the Until Dawn comparison falls flat in my opinion. The only thing it shares with Quantic Dream titles is the gameplay structure which doesn't mean much.

It's not useful because Until Dawn is a completely different narrative which doesn't even come close to the emotional intensity of let's say Heavy Rain.

Heavy Rain = french wine

Until Dawn = cheeseburger

I like Kara/Cara's design.

Title is silly, though. It should have been either Detroid or Become Human.

It's a Quantic Dream game. The title is accurate, because the narrative will go off the rails and by the end the entirety of Detroit the city itself will become an android that wishes to be human.

To become Human you have to take a shower form time to time, so a David Cage Shower Scene should be in

Looking Forward to it, I Rally like the setting and the Main Character

A little too crazy? The latter half of Indigo Prophecy is completely batshit insane in the best/worst possible way. It's hilariously amazing/awful.

That's what I said "for my tastes". ;)

I really love crazy games. Hell, I like Metal Gear.

But Prophecy went up and beyond...

Cool, I'm from Detroit. It's a pretty good video game location. Very post apocalyptic. :p

But apparently the trailer takes place downtown. All the white people in the trailer lol

Emotional intensity? Heavy Rain? Did you have tears from laughing at it too hard?

Hopefully it will be for akin to Beyond and less like Rain.

Loved Beyond and one of my fave games of the gen, but Rain was a snooze.

Also, to piggyback on my previous response, the characters rendering here is made more difficult by them being wet from the rain. When they show that dude who looks aside at 2:18, you can see a glimpse of how people in the game look when they have dry skin, and it looks fantastic.

But in any case, the facial mocap on Kara at the end is unlike anything I've seen in realtime graphics, bar their own Wizard demo.

This is a David Cage game, so expect most of it to feel like an alternate history where American people and scenery feel strangely French.
I see nothing wrong with that. :P

Especially since this is the future. Who knows!!

Jesus, does it really matter if there wasn't any black people in the trailer? I thought the equality arguement was about equality. They don't have to have black people in the trailer if they don't want to, the black race doesn't have to be in everything everywhere. That's not equality, that's just moaning just because.

I liked the part where a girl is forced to grow up in a room with a two way mirror with security cameras her whole life and never get's angry about the fact she has to live in a room with security cameras and a two way mirror and even cares for her captors as if it's supposed to genuine and real rather than a result of stockholm syndrome.

Because no one in real life cares about personal privacy, especially girls.

At this point people are just desperate for excuses to hate on this. Funny, since most of them won't even buy Quantic Dream games but are always ready to bash them. ;)

At the end of the game, we discover that Androids have found ways to mate with themselves and create Android babies. The black people revolt when they notice that they are being quickly replaced by Androids. Aliens then appear out of nowhere stating that they have stole black people because they heard good things about "their anatomy". IGN 10/10 "Dem Feels"

I'm very excited about this announcement. The Kara tech demo was far more exciting to me than the Dark Sorcerer, in setting and tone.

I really hope this isn't a late 2017 game, though.

Would be more excited if I hadn't played Beyond recently. I really liked Heavy Rain but Beyond proved that Cage's writing can be really terrible.

"What if Detroit had no black people" the game.

^^^ I in no way condone the content of this reply at all. What if this is gentrified version of Detroit in the future?

All I want is a game with solid gameplay, great content, and multiple endings.

And yet Heavy Rain, for all its pretensions and 'serious' aspirations, has far worse dialogue, worse drawn characters and less interesting character dynamics than the B-Movie horror pastiche that is Until Dawn. Go figure. You can really tell Until Dawn was scripted by two TV veterans. Not even responsible for anything remarkable either, and yet two entirely un-noteworthy TV scribes can put together a script that knocks Cage's efforts out of the park.

As for Detroit. Well, forget about Ridley Scott, Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, Alex Garland. What everyone's really been waiting for is David Cage's subtle take on what it means to be human. Shower scene, casual racism and sex scene mandatory.

So, as someone who's actually never played one of their games and never really looked into them too deeply... are we expecting this to be effectively a movie with some QTEs? Or is that impression I got from how people talk about Heavy Rain at least an exaggeration? Like, do you get much input at least, ala some visual novels or something? Should I expect much in terms of what one could call "gameplay" or no? At looks pretty at least, but I'm not sure if I'm interested or not (again, just completely have no clue about their games, to be honest)

Exactly, people just moan and hate on things just because they want to. I loved Heavy Rain and thought Beyond had flaws but it was a good cinematic game. I'm looking forward to this.

We're constantly told that there aren't black people in this setting and that setting because of bullshit historical accuracy concerns and/or demographics, yet we have a game set in a city where the vast majority of the population is black and, even then, black people are nowhere to be found.

Ahahahahaahahahahaha, oh wow that trailer. That rant about how cliche and shitty the writing is did not actually prepare me for how cliche and shitty the writing is.

I was prepared to Jason

But it asked me to Kara

The black people got replaced with Androids.

The twist at the end is that they all got turned into white robots

David Cage has something to say about race, ladies and gentleman

Except the part where she had Aiden and could look beyond the walls and mirror any time she wanted.

Her family abandoned her when she little and she connected with the two doctors there.

It's Detroit...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit#Demographics

As of the 2010 Census, the racial composition of the city was:

82.7% Black or African American;
10.6% White (7.8% non-Hispanic whites, 2.8% Hispanic whites);
3% from other races;
1.1% Asian;
2.2% from two or more races;
0.4% American Indian;
0.02% Pacific Islander.

Yes it's a problem. It was a problem with the Robocop Reboot, it's a problem here.

What everyone's really been waiting for is David Cage's subtle take on what it means to be human. Shower scene and sex scene mandatory.

Don't forget brushing your teeth.
Curious that the press screenshots are 16:9 aspect ratio while the trailer is 2:35:1 and 'captured in-engine.'

Now this is a horrible video game name.

Will buy for David Cage tho. He's far from perfect, but his games are compelling.
