Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Beat the game this morning in one sitting. For context, I am a lore junkie...and a father of two, so I don't normally do my first run through on anything but normal then incrementally pick up a mission here and a mission there on harder difficulties. I absolutely LOVE Halo 5. The campaign Imo is top notch. I would have liked a little more emotion behind the Chief hunt, but other than that, it is perplexing to me why the campaign is so divisive for folks. I have read every novel, comic and played through every game. My gut tells me that some people may not appreciate the depth to the characters based on their exposure purely through the game. But to suggest it isn't a good story or campaign is a stretch Imo. I thought H4 was incredibly difficult to follow without extended lore, and some are suggesting this story is worse. I know it is an opinion and I appreciate others opinions, but merely because it is somewhat polarizing doesn't make it bad. As far as level design and structure, I agree not on par with 1, 3, or odst but I believe it to best reach, 4, and 2. Multiplayer is back...I still suck but even I can appreciate the balance.

Oh man , been playing all day and i love this game.

Tha campaign was awesome, even though it does have problems it succeeds where halo 4 fails. Halo 4 was meant to be a re-introduction to the halo franchise with new enemies, new location and new storyline but it all felt flat and boring. Halo 5 makes me super excited about the future of halo.

The multiplayer is also great. Having a ton of fun in arena and warzone. Felt so proud of myself when i found out how to get the damage boost on the orion map.

Agree!

Just finished my Legendary run. Loved every minute except for some frustrating encounters. I really wish I ran into more human ammo during my play through though.

One thing I have to commend 343 for is being able to retain that old school Halo vibe with the characters, and with the banter and such. Just the overall mood of the game feels sort of nostalgic in a good old Halo sort of way, but it plays better than ever. Even playing with Locke and team Osiris it still has that vibe.

In Halo 5 defense. The sword of Sanghelios mission was really awesome. If the entire game was like that... Then it would of been amazing. The covenants are so much fun go fight compared to the prometheuns. They shouldn't exist...period.

To me H5 campaign had fun mission structure. The multiple pathways each mission really added alot to each level. My biggest complaint is probably the Knights,
The Warden
, and some parts of the story at the end of the game.

Enjoying it so far. Did the first few levels of the campaign and liked it so I'm not sure what the big deal was about it being so god awful. And I'm someone who really only liked the campaign for 1, 2 and Reach. But a couple of gripes from me:

That shoulder charge is terrible in MP. Not in a "the move is worthless" kind of way. It just seems unfair. Instant kill, easy to do, little to no recharge time on it. Doesn't really stop your progress that much despite being pretty much an instant kill like an assassination does. Not sure what they were thinking putting that in the game. Do people actually enjoy it being there? I feel like I get killed by that all the time from behind when I'm in a firefight with someone.

Req packs seem lame. Every single pack I've opened just gives me like four of the same card and then three of another card. And I thought you were supposed to get a couple pretty rare/legendary cards with the gold pack but I didn't see any. It gave me two cards that said you'll get something after your next arena match but as far as I can tell, I got diddly squat after my next match happened. Kind of disappointed with how the req packs are implemented.

And I'm running into a lot of lag. Certain people teleporting around which makes swat a nightmare. I've been people lagging and bouncing around in every single game type I've played though so it's not limited to just that or any specific game mode. I thought people were talking about how smooth the game was with the dedicated servers so it's a little surprising to see.

I also haven't played a single MP match yet where at least one person hasn't left. Usually it's one person from each side that loses a person and it seems to take forever for that spot to get filled in, if it even does at all. Really, really annoying playing 4v3 or 3v3 games all the time. Even in my lone warzone attempt, it was 12v10 for a long time.

So from watching the latest Sprint episodes... Are all the DLC maps going to be Forge stuff and remixes? :/

I guess we wont know the ratio between forge maps and original maps, but we have glimpsed at least one warzone map which is original, the city looking one. One of many hopefully! As long as a bunch of them are original, I have no problem with forge ones if they play well. They're maps which probably just wouldn't exist otherwise.

Thinking about jumping in. How has everyone's MP experience been so far? Any problems on the scale of MCC? It's the only reason I didn't pre-order.

I just finished Mission 2. Love it so far. I need one question answered. Does this game have big, open, "vehicle" missions like the ark or anything of the sort? Spoiler tag your answer please!

Anybody else notice there's no center channel during gameplay? Playing on 5.1 dts. Center channel works as it should during cutscenes and sounds great, during gameplay its silent. Can't believe the game wouldn't have a center channel.

Getting paired with Americans constantly is getting really fucking old

I've only had time for 2 games so far but they were both full of Americans. Had a few players teleporting around and eating shots which isn't great. Are the European servers up yet?

Game finally finishes installing. Load up a multiplayer match.

Two teammates quit in the first minute. My other teammate commits suicide over and over until it kicks him.

Great game.

Have not noticed it, but i'll check tomorrow. That would be really odd though. I was also expecting that we would be able to choose different audio options, like...tv speakers, headphones and home cinema. Is it automatically 7.1 by the way?

As for BTB. Have they now confirmed the maps will be Forge? That would really suck bigtime.

And the free maps until June next year, surely those will be proper new maps and not Forge right? God i hated how Forge maps were thrown into Team Slayer in Halo 4.

It's been silk this entire time. Quick matchmaking and not one bit of lag since I started playing Monday morning. Apparently for about two hours they had issues with the req system. Great launch

Warzone is surprisingly fun, I wasn't really expecting it to click with me, but am having a really good time with it.

It's just a shame they have Sarah Palmer, the Jar Jar Binks of Halo, narrating the whole thing.
