Detroit: Become Human (Quantic Dream) Announced for PS4

Definitely interested based on the premise and the setting. Game looks beautiful too. I also hope they rename it; Kara would've been a much better title in my opinion. The current title just sounds really odd to me.

I'm going to rage if they pull another Heavy Rain and have shitty french VA's play what are suppose to be homegrown Americans.

Yes, I'm still salty.

good shot of the eyes, for that previous conversation. looks damn realistic to me. and this is from a secondary character ( could be wrong ), as long as Kara is actually the main character anyway

Doesn't even come close to looking like a real person.

I need to hear about a Heavy-Rain-esque branching story before my potato begins to boil, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I have no interest in QD's rubbish plotholery and terrible writing, but underneath all that Heavy Rain was a genuinely great game that gave actual consequences to your actions in a way that no other game I can think of (except Alpha Protocol) did. Watching QD climb back into the hole of purely linear 'emotional' storytelling where nothing you do matters is so disappointing.

I just love that in the same show that has Dreams, this type of game is also showcased. Just love the diversity on display right now in the industry. Tons of games in all areas being thrown out there.

Each time I watch the trailer I get more excited. So much awesome detail everywhere already, like the droid who needs to carry the umbrella for his master while himself walking in the rain I just spotted.

Loved the craziness that was Indigo Prophecy. Didn't like Heavy Rain as it was boring and didn't even bother with Beyond Two Souls.

I'm not the biggest fan of David Cage but hopefully he gets it right here. It's a very interesting theme and idea.

Best wishes.

Also, don't use Detroit if it's not an accurate representation of the city because people are not going to be happy about it. Just set it elsewhere you are familiar with, Cage.
They location scouted the entire city so I'm sure it will be faithful in the structure aspect. For everything else they dont need to be much faithful to present day Detroit because its obviously set in the freaking future and much could have changed :P

Is this the first QD game that is visually worse than whatever tech demo they did (sorcerer)? It looks pretty good visually but I was almost expecting sorcerer level character models :D
I assume this is because they opted to increase their area size quite a bit as it looks like. And have tons of characters on screen. Its even more impressive than Sorcerer imo, just on a different scale.

People dug through the Audio files and found an actual rape ending to that scene, thankfully it never made it in the game..but the main character being raped was a QTE failure outcome.
This is incorrect. The "rape" scene can be played through a hack and its literally just the dialogue of her screaming that was cut, animation wise nothing happens beyond what was shown in the final game, there is no rape occurring and she remains fully clothed.

Too bad they couldn't achieve dem graphics on a real game.
They probably could have and likely will in indoor areas, which we havent seen at all yet. The trailer features almost exclusively the most taxing scenario their engine probably needs to handle: Daylight, outside, big area and crowds. QD's games always looked at their worst when they did exactly that. This is a massive increase in rendering requirements compared to the Sorcerer and the insane detail on all the random people walking by is easily as impressive if not even more so.

We will see how indoor areas fare. If they went with Beyond type of area size I have no doubt it would have looked like Sorcerer. But alas they went with something more ambitious.

Rewatching the trailer, I feel like Detroit is the perfect setting for this. The parallels between the mechanical and automotive industry, as well as the fact that Detroit was a once proud and strong city mirroring Kara's own emotions only to walk outside into the cold and harsh reality.

I feel like Karas voice acting was pretty outstanding. Genuinely excited about this, I just hope Cage can better integrate the interactivity portion this time around.

It's not just still images. The animation is not up to The Dark Sorcerer demo.

Sure their scope is larger with this game, but one still can't help but be disappointed considering what they had shown before. TDS is just on another level...on every level. I rewatched the whole video earlier and it still looks fucking amazing, and it's two friggin' years old already.

Genuinely curious how they will handle the areas they shown in this trailer. Compared to all his previous work besides Omikron everything looked is if the size of the stages increased by the factor x5. On top of that they have a dedicated AI programmer who mostly seems to be responsible for programming the crowd, so it seems the reactions from the NPCs we saw in this trailer (like to the rain) might be dynamic and not scripted for one time use only. Would be seriously great if you could walk freely through there and I'm fully expecting that to be a new gameplay thing.

Well yeah they obviously polished the animation to the absolute finest degree for the Sorcerer, considering they didn't have much to clean up. Would probably need an insanely large team to get that level of consistency across an entire game. There is still hope though, QD's animators polish facial animation all the way up to release. HR and Beyond both saw a big improvement there between announcement and release. And we really only saw Kara's face animate for now and it was brief. Sorcerer had some iffy moments as well.

I feel like it's kinda strange to nitpick the visuals when it's literally one of the best, if not the best looking games this generation.

Yeah, she's the weirdest looking character in the trailer. So strange too, as it just underlines how much it's all about the nuance. This guy looks so much better, it's unreal, even though they are both using the same shading and everything:

I guess the face being wet ruins things. I remember sorcerer also looked notably worse for those few seconds when the water was splashed onto his face.

It's not just still images. The animation is not up to The Dark Sorcerer demo.
The end when she speaks, IMO is up that standard. It was a very static trailer compared to the Sorcerer demo. Not much opportunity for the characters to show off anything.

You know your game has great consistency and probably the most real looking crowd ever when a random ass passer-by with the lowest amount of developer attention looks as good as secondary or even main characters in other games:

And then to imagine their engine is seemingly rendering an entire crowd of these at once. Daaaaamn.

Yeah the title is just 'Detroit', which makes it even worse lol

The game looks intruiging though. I know it's just a debut trailer but I hope there's a more personal conflict in the game than just "robot racism".

Is it? That's good. Now when a really bad game in this genre hits we can have an OT for it called "<insert game title here> OT: It's worse than Detroit".

I'm not sold on the project, but I kinda like the name "Detroit".
I think its intentional that you can replace the "t" with "d" and get droid lol Kinda like that play

Well, her dialogue hints pretty heavily at the fact that there will be choices :P

Do we know if the game's structured more like Omikron or QD's more recent games yet?
I assume recent, but with semi open world areas/hubs (like Omikron).

No faith. Anyone remember Beyond? Or Heavy Rain? Or fucking Indigo fucking Prophecy? No faith whatsoever. It's gonna be half-baked in its handling of the topic, it's gonna have at least one shower scene and multiple attempted rapes for no reason, and there'll be a handful of effective moments in a sea of bizarre writing.

That's one of the worst video game titles in a while. I'm sure David Cage was 100% behind this premise because it's even easier to justify shower scenes and rape scenes. Jury's still out on the offensive portrayal of minorities though.
Disgusting attitude to have from the outset lol

This is also some nice speculation. Especially considering most writers on this are not Cage and also had nothing to do with any of his previous work.

Nobody forces you to pay attention to this game if you dislike his previous work, isn't it?.

You act like attempted rape in the real world is some sort of rare happening. Happens all the time. You must hate Game of Thrones or American Horror Story or any number of a dozen movies/shows out there that depict attempted rapes in todays storytelling. And what was shown in Two Souls is about as early into the whole thing as you can get. Didn't show really anything, except someone trying to grab her arms. But you are right, a pretty woman going into an empty bar with a bunch of drunken men who are friends has absolutely nothing to worry about.

Hell they showed this type of thing in a damn Twilight movie.

No, you're totally right. Rape is just something you can sprinkle around a narrative like fucking chocolate chips and it's not lazy shock tactics at all. Also I would avoid defending the artistic validity of something by comparing it to Twilight.

Well if this is true I suddenly have much more faith.
EDIT: Looked it up, it appears to be a three-person job, with Cage being the, in his own words, "showrunner." So get skeptical.

Got really impressed at the last scene where Kara looks at the camera then turns around. Looked really natural and well done.

Kudos to you QD, can't wait to see how this one will turn out.
