Detroit: Become Human (Quantic Dream) Announced for PS4

The graphics look lovely
Especially all the faces
I think she looks better as a brunette though

Did the tech demo really get 27m views?
Hard to resist that kind of exposure

Close enough to my game idea

I want the male CG model they used for Ethan and NomNom Jayden to be reused for this game. Maybe as male sexbots.

WAT?

Also, don't use Detroit if it's not an accurate representation of the city because people are not going to be happy about it. Just set it elsewhere you are familiar with, Cage.

It does seem like the story will be about Kara liberating all the other robots, which I think might be a bit disappointing. More interesting would be if she's truly unique and the other robots are just mindless machines. Then you have a situation where she fits neither with the humans nor the robots.

I love sci-fi stuff like this, day one for me. Title is bad though, why not just "become human" and drop Detroit from it. I mean Detroit as name recognition will NOT help you sell copies I don't think.
I'm thinking the exact same thing, I quite like what you suggested or just "Becoming Human".

good shot of the eyes, for that previous conversation. looks damn realistic to me. and this is from a secondary character ( could be wrong ), as long as Kara is actually the main character anyway

Good graphics. Looks corny tho hehe.
Why Detroit tho?

its funny, Ex Machina was universally praised for being awesome and a ton of people were wanting a sequel showing what happens when she gets out and what happens beyond that. Same thing with the Kara demo. Now that it happens, some folk think that is corny or ripping something else off. Kara was a long, long time ago. Really Ex Machina ripped Kara off.

It says why Detroit in the trailer. Like, it is literally the first thing spoken about.

Eventually: Detroit[OT] - Press X to Kara

But sraly now, I am so glad that This is Quantic Dream's next title. Not sure If I could have handled Cage attempting comedy, lol

Is this the first QD game that is visually worse than whatever tech demo they did (sorcerer)? It looks pretty good visually but I was almost expecting sorcerer level character models :D

Oh Replicant. You're just asking way too much. :/
Sexualized males in a David Cage game? LOL.
Also accurate portrayals of well known areas? LOL.

T_T

PS4_DarkSorcerer.jpg

One thing to remember is that Dark Sorceror was placed inside a single movie studio set piece area. Just a boxed room. There were only 3 models needing to be on screen so they were able to pour everything they had into a tiny room.

This game is set in Detroit. With tons of character models all over the place and weather and all other kind of stuff. The demand that is needed in the Detroit presentation is FAR more then that of Dark Sorceror. Really the only thing better I see in Dark Sorceror model is the wrinkles, but thats due to him being an old man and actually having wrinkles.

You showing a picture of some white people in Detroit has absolutely nothing to do with what I was talking about. I never said that white people didn't exist in Detroit or that it was hard to find white people in Detroit. What I've been saying is that it's sad that even in a city where the vast majority of the population is black that we can't even have a game that tries to match the demographics of the city.

Maybe gentrification created by the android boom will be a theme in thethe game?

Looks absolutely beautiful, it's nice they went with Kara as well, after so many people asked for it.
But yeah, the title is fucking atrocious, they need to rename it.

I wish they do it but I dont think it is that easy. I mean, it must be a marketing nightmare to change the name of an already announced IP.

I wish they just went with "Kara". So much better.

So they pick Detroit for its legacy of automation and manufacturing advances, but, going off of what they show in the trailer, ignore that it has one of highest black populations of any major city in the western hemisphere? Pretty lame missed opportunity to be just a little more believable or fair with representation. Also could have featured a black protag, but whatever. Concept seems much better than past David Cage schlock, at least.

I get you. Detroit: Become Human (sigh... I wish I could just say Kara) looks really good. The environments are breathtaking but I still think that the sorcerer demo was on another level of fidelity. I mean heavy rain the game turned out better looking than that demo video with one woman in it.

A shitload of high quality environment assets in that trailer btw. A lot of work if we're only gonna see them for a short moment in a cutscene. Makes me wonder how big of an area they'll give us to explore.

Look at these emotions

This isn't the only time it happens in the game too
Well first - you can leave before anything happens, and it's not like it's not suspicious from the onset what might happen. Also, at no point does that scene escalate into an actual rape, as you kick their asses before anything can happen. Nothing like what's in Irreversible, or even that GoT episode. And what the heck is the problem with showing shower scenes? That's the kind of thing that's been a cinema staple since forever. It's there to make you closer to a character, as you see them when they're exposed and vulnerable. Setup so that you can feel for them later when something happens to them.

I'm sure that could be a justification and it would be a very boring/disappointing one. I'm tired of seeing the same excuses for whitewashing settings in entertainment.

Except there are black people all over the place trough out the trailer. When someone's wants to create an issue they will, no matter what.

People dug through the Audio files and found an actual rape ending to that scene, thankfully it never made it in the game..but the main character being raped was a QTE failure outcome.

Best graphics I've seen to date, no question about it. There is one major nitpick though, the eyes just don't look right at all. They need to borrow some of the tech from the shadow fall engine to make the eyes look realistic.

It looks really good but to me it somehow seems off when compared to until dawn.
I disagree. I think the eyes look better on at least some characters in this trailer - notably Kara and the guy that looks aside at 2:18 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL2gW7hmXu4&feature=youtu.be&t=2m18s He's probably my favorite looking character in the trailer, and I almost can't believe that some random passerby characters will have that level of fidelity. So maybe he'll have a more major role.

Yeah, they decided to keep it more tactful, and I really see no problem with what was actually in the game - not to mention the whole scene is completely and easily avoidable.

Looks phenomenal. Quantic haters whatever. They've delivered some of the best story-driven adventure games around. I loved both Heavy Rain and Beyond. This looks excellent. Nice they could debut it at the Paris show.

So is the idea behind using "Detroit" that androids are the new automobiles in some way? LIke the city revitalized itself by becoming the epicenter for android assembly?

'Become human' is just the tagline. Unfortunately it was placed right below the title in the trailer so people think it's a subtitle. Looks like it really is called Become Human

Yeah, I think that's the case. Funny enough did Deus Ex do the same thing with Detroit, just that they produced augmentations and not androids.

I mean in some weird way when you think about it calling your game Detroit is some ballsy ass ballsy shit i can only appreciate. Yeah the title is really awkward and weird but at the same time the concept behind it kind of makes sense and is certainly interesting. Its one of those things that makes you wonder how the city of Detroit would actually embrace this lol.

This is true too and actually brings to light something i didnt even realize at first. Deus Ex always seems to be way way ahead of the times. I love them so.

I think it kind of works. Detroit evokes a lot of things, from the current dilapidated and decaying state, to 40-50 years ago when it was "motor city" and and sort of the symbol for urban sprawl. Ultimately, if the game is good it won't matter, people will just get used to calling it Detroit.

I'd have no problem if it wasn't his go-to move for "drama" for women. With the focus being on "can androids be human?" , I think we're surely to see a rape scene or 2 in this game too, his 3rd game in a row with the female protagonist fighting off rape. A "soulless thing" wouldn't fear rape, so it'll be used to show how human she is to the audience/other characters.

Pretty sure it's a subtitle . Someone pointed out horizon is probably horizon zero dawn because of copyright issues . I'm assuming Detroit would lead to similar issues as horizon .

If you're thinking about the scene that I'm thinking of from HR (the dream), that never really looked like an attempted rape. It was a murder, and in fact iirc it always ends with a murder, in a very non-sexual way. But I guess it's still a similar thing of showing an attack on someone while they're vulnerable. I never said Cage's one to go for subtlety. He'd beat you over the head with attempts to make sure you feel for the characters, any cliche way he can think of.
