Detroit: Become Human (Quantic Dream) Announced for PS4

I'm checking the assets released by Sony and the video file for the trailer is called "Project Henry", I wonder if that is the codename they used during development or pre-production.

They''ve established their own brand and flavor at this point. They're a truly different game maker.

I really respect their attempts at breaking new grounds with every game they make.QD is a fine studio

No, you're totally right. Rape is just something you can sprinkle around a narrative like fucking chocolate chips and it's not lazy shock tactics at all. Also I would avoid defending the artistic validity of something by comparing it to Twilight.

Well if this is true I suddenly have much more faith.
EDIT: Looked it up, it appears to be a three-person job, with Cage being the, in his own words, "showrunner." So get skeptical.

Looks great and I always hoped for a game based on the Kara tech demo.

Would be nice if the game referred back the tech demo, like it's officially part of the story.

Also, I hope that the next Detroit topic isn't 90% bitching about David Cage or the title. I know that's probably a futile hope but one can dream.

Obviously rape happens in real life. Obviously. But Cage uses it as a crutch to inspire emotions in his audience because it's an easy fallback to shock you and put you on the character's side. Not because the narrative theming calls for it, not because it's part of the plot, but because it makes emotions happen and in David Cage land, if you have an emotion, he did his writing good. He can have whoever he wants rape whoever he feels they need to rape, but at the end of the day if his game is populated by characters like saccharine homeless saints and magic Indians, his game is gonna end up stupid and weird. Just like Beyond.

Can't wait for my amazing game play, having control over my character's every move. All while having the freedom to do what i want in such a highly detailed world....

It'll be like Ex Machina minus all the subtlety with a few awkward sex scenes thrown in because why not? It's unbelievable that they waste technology as impressive as this on David Cages' direction and writing. I'll reserve final judgment until I play it but good god was this trailer as blunt and on the nose as possible.

It looks great, especially the faces. I like the sc-fi idea behind it. I wonder how it'll play : some kind of open-levels ? They didn't put the name of the city in the title and showed so much crowds and streets for nothing.

I really liked Heavy Rain but didn't play Beyond Two Souls (story didn't look good), if they can pull a great and simple story (Her from Spike Jonze is a perfect example in a similar theme) and a well-driven game design they have their chances.

But do you actually play it that's the question.

Please not this trolling bullshit again.

I disagree. I think the eyes look better on at least some characters in this trailer - notably Kara and the guy that looks aside at 2:18 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL2gW7hmXu4&feature=youtu.be&t=2m18s He's probably my favorite looking character in the trailer, and I almost can't believe that some random passerby characters will have that level of fidelity. So maybe he'll have a more major role.

Eyes are always the trickiest to get right, they can either make or break the immersion of how believable the character is. So far everything looks amazing I just wish they can borrow some of the eye rendering tech from the SF engine. It might be down to personal taste as I think Until Dawn has the best eye shaders/effects ever. The real immersion comes when Kara closes her eyes she looks like a real person.

Nitpicking aside this game has the best bokeh DOF implementation I have seen so far in a game, the motion blur has so many samples too and the lighting is some of the best. Texture quality/resolution on the clothes look extremely good. Some parts look straight offline cg from a couple years ago!

I want this game right now, looks so good.

I wonder if it will get even more exposure because of the rise in streaming. This kind of choice and consequence game is perfect for that.

My jaw literally dropped when they revealed the title. What the hell? One of the worst I've ever seen. Why not just call it Become Human? Using the name of a city as your primary title is Beyond stupid.

But do you actually play it that's the question.
This type of weak trolling is looked down upon recently and could get you into trouble. Just saying.

Its neither Cages writing or direction. At least not entirely his this time around. He is sharing both writing and direction equally.

He is sharing direction as well. Equally in that case. So 4 persons total.

Oh heck yea! So happy they decided to make a game out of the Kara demo.

I'm gonna ignore the hate, obviously this isn't your type of game if you didn't like the others. All of QD previous work were fantastic experiences.

Yeah, ever since that tech demo I was hoping for this.

I think it will be, that opening scene in the trailer looked pretty similar.

Totally agree. I've loved their previous games and am really excited for this.

Its not trolling. I'm asking do you actually play it. Because its almost surely going to be a QTE game. Despite how pretty it looks.

QTEs IS gameplay. You still require hand and eye coordination and quick twitch reflexes. You can actually fucked up your input if you're not BOTH accurate and fast enough.

Moreover, more and more of this kind of game involves choices and sometimes investigation to move forward. And in some cases, traditional gameplay such as 3rd person shooter.

There are different kinds of game. Because your definition of game is narrow-minded it doesn't mean it's the only valid interpretation.

Everything looks great on Kara except for the hair. It still looks like fake polygon hair, mostly because the lighting/texturing is off. Until Dawn's hair lighting/texturing isn't much better, but the hair does seem to flow more naturally.

Unneeded

QTE's are gameplay, just in case you didn't know.

QTE is not what i call game play. It's passive and usually means a stop in game play moments. That break up said moments in more bad ways then positive (QTE to cut scene or whatever else). Heavy Rain was an example of just a poor job almost all around and the Order was just the hype before the end. Though at least the recent QTE experience until dawn keeps it interesting but that's only because it suits that type of "gameplay". Anyways i hope at the very least we get more third person control, rather its in regular conversations and or experiencing the world impassively or better yet through other methods of gameplay with QTE mixed in but its not the whole experience.

I really fail to be offended by the "attempted rape" scene in Beyond. Its entirely avoidable in 2 different ways and you should avoid it if you play even semi smart. For instance if you feel uncomfortable in the bar you can just decide to leave again and skip the entire thing. I had to look up the scene to even get what some people were talking about, as I never encountered it. Considering the "attempt" is so short, non-graphic and actually has repercussions for her character later on I really cant find much issue with it. Sure it was unneeded perhaps no matter which decision you do, but I cant really be outraged at it. The Heavy Rain dream scene was straight up attempted murder and I see no hint of rape in there.

Yeah it was probably the code for the actors and PR firms etc

I am fairly quietly excited for this one, it sounds really interesting and I liked Heavy Rain, I didn't get BTS when it launched but I will definitely be getting it sometime next year, possibly at launch depending on what else releases around it.

I guess the games Sony didn't date as 2016 are further out but I am looking forward to seeing more next year

Do you control the game's output/character´s actions with your controller? Yes?

It's gameplay, then.

Her hair looked fine in dry scenes. Hair tends to look weird when it's wet tbh.
