Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Okay, I'm really impressed with what 343 pulled off. I started playing the campaign and the amount of action and particle effects mixed with much more wide open environments...it really makes the game feel special. Damn good job!

It took me a few matches to realize that zoom on BR, snipers etc. is Left Trigger not the usual click on left joystick, which is what I've been used to all these years.

That and the added B button boost as opposed to Melee will give even seasoned vets somewhat of an initial learning curve.
What control scheme are you using kas? I'm using bumper jumper, and I assume bread is too

Might I instead interest you instead in Forged Boxes and Tubes #4?

ADS good or bad?
From a visual standpoint I still dislike it (especially on the magnum) but mechanically it's ok in most weapons I think.

It only really bothers me with a couple of weapons, mostly the shotguns, because the spread reduction when zooming is just too big. That's too close to traditional ADS for my liking. No weapon should gain any extra accuracy when zooming (beyond the usual gained with the zoom)

The Light Rifle is slightly annoying too, because the animation is super slow (it was clearly designed with "LT to zoom" users in mind)

Light Rifle zoomed in does significantly more damage (uses 3x ammo i believe), thus its slower for balance.
Yeah, maybe, but it still feels bad. LT to zoom users are used to slow scope animations, but when I click RS I want the zoom to be pretty much instantaneous, no fancy scope animations and/or added delays (I'm sure there are other ways to balance the weapon that don't involve those)

Started playing the campaign again and I am feeling a lot better about it. I still think its going to end up being my 2nd least favorite campaign but when the AI isn't being a ***** the action is still really fun. There is just no real WOW moments like there used to be.

Mission 7

all I did at the start was look around, look at the water and kept hearing that 'lookit all that water' in my mind. Seriously one of the most beautiful levels in Halo period. Would love if there was a map that used those assets and that look

Seems like while 343 went all out with gameplay, they really cheaped out on the maps. They made only a few maps, made remixes of them to save time, then forged the rest because fuck it. Forge maps seriously should not be part of the starting lineup.
The single player has some really nice natural environments with aesthetics that would be wonderful for multiplayer maps. Imagine maps set on
the forerunner planet or sanghelios
. Instead the maps we get are basically 'Grey Boxes and Tubes #5.' Step it up 343!

I assume the "free dlc" maps will be like 90% forge maps as well. The gameplay may be great, but get ready for the ugliest halo multiplayer yet. Hoping to be proven very wrong.

Honestly the map situation is pretty abysmal. Don't understand why its so bad.

The annoying thing is, I'm pretty sure Coliseum is set on that world. Look at the skybox/outside map area. But the actual area where you play and spend your time looking has much less 'flavour' . It's a common problem with a few of the maps imo

Thank you teammate for shooting me multiple times because I grabbed rockets before you which got me killed almost instantly.

"Oh, you're mad that I took your sniper rifle? It would be a shame if I were to, say, just shoot this rock over and over until I had no more ammo."

I've done that a few times and it makes them fucking livid, it's the best.

[edit]

In past Halo games, I mean. Haven't come across a teammate trying to kill me for a weapon in Halo 5 so far.

As much as I love Warzone, there are some things that would make it better:

- more points for Spartan kills. I mean seriously, if I get 50 kills in a match, why does that contribute 50/1000 points
- give capturing bases more of a reward. Currently (as far as I can tell), bases only function as providing a defence for your core and as spawn points, and doesn't contribute to points at all. Capping bases should provide some points (maybe 25 or something)
- More smaller bosses and lesser enemies on the field to provide more opportunities for points, with less of an emphasis on major bosses. Because of how the boss system works (where the team who kills the boss gets all the points), matches can become overly one-sided extremely quickly with these major boss kills
-Randomize bosses, and their locations. After playing a few warzone matches on a particular map, it gets really repetitive knowing the same bosses are going to spawn in the exact same places

Still unable to find Warzone matches, even at peak hours.

Huge thread on Waypoint, no answer from 343i.

Sincerely thinking about getting a refund.

Regular default that is in single player and multiplayer too. Haven't messed around with anything else but I'd prefer to go back to the old "B" Melee, left analog click zoom, with whatever added controls going to bumpers.

I haven't even checked outside of default but if there are no other options I'll adapt just fine. Already have gotten used to it at this point tbh.

About to be on for Warzone pretty soon if NFLGAF is still playing. We need FMT and Yankee to join.

Anyone else wants to join just sent me a friend request GT - ProfessorK516

I haven't played anything outside of Warzone because Warzone is damn fun.

I was playing single player, trying to finish it before multi like I usually do and Bread and Zvonomir sent me a request to join for one match. I kept saying "one more match, that's it" until it went for 10 more matches or so haha

I think I'm liking Warzone better than BTB tbh but still need to put some more hours in

this matchmaking... how does a two diamonds, unranked and a gold pair up with two crystal and two unranked? the match was completely one sided.

Yeah I gotta say i think I like warzone better then BTB, and I love BTB. Bumped jumper is a good layout too. I'll probably be on again soon, not sure how much ill get to play until Saturday after this. I'm feeling addicted right now haha. I've also really enjoyed the breakout mode. Warzone and breakout is all I've played today

God dang, I played a couple of Warzone games with a group of 9. It's scratching the battlefield itch for me despite being considerably smaller. We're basically splitting into groups we play with more often, doing other objectives and only all meeting up for a single point when needed.

Fyrewulff we lost you out of nowhere. Nice playing with you again, duder. That one arena game we played was dope.

When the fucking
Metroid Prime choir kicked in and evolved into the Halo theme
I was feeling some type of way. I hadn't gotten that worked up about any Halo moment like that since the "Keyes' pelican approaching from off in the distance set to the rain and choir" moment in Reach. It's really the most "classic Halo" a Halo title has ever been, down to the mission structure. It's like they just injected the mission with liquid CE pipe dream nostalgia.

Most Metroid Prime it's ever been, too.

Just finished the campaign on Heroic and loved almost every bit of it. Story was great and the gameplay felt so good. MC/Locke split never bothered me, mainly due to Locke being kinda awesome.

Couple of gripes though. Ending wasn't as bad as I was led to believe, but could've done with an additional scene, though I assume there's a Legendary scene for that? Felt that a couple of the Big Bad showdown's should've been playable, especially the one on the first level.

So Breakout might be my favorite mode in the game. I would have never thought that after the beta, but holy shit. I just put in my 10 games, got Diamond Rank 1. The sensitivity+radar issue doesn't bother me as much there because you know exactly where your enemy is coming from. Spartan Charge can be a bastard in that game type though as melees are one hit kill.

No ammo? No problem.

I'm never going to pull that off again :(

This is one of those "First week and all the noobs are online" kills.

Australia.

There are reports from people here, Asia, South America.. All unable to find Warzone matches.

Could it be related to the region lock thing?

I live in Brazil, was having the MTU bug, and was able to play normally. I even found a full Warzone match in less than 10 seconds.

But we, thankfully, have a data center here.

So I just started playing the campaign and I'm feeling a little lost. Is there something I should look at to understand what is going on or does it matter?

Completely agree, its absolutely baffling how few maps there are. Has Stinkles explained why there's so few?

I've somehow managed to sink 18 hours into the multiplayer already and getting pretty bored of the maps. Forge will be great and that but it needs more professionally made maps.

So dumb that you can steal AI kill in Warzone in the last second.
Yup, plasma casted two bosses right next to each other I'm waiting for the last one to explode for the double kill...a red team guy waiting quite a bit away snipes them and takes the kills. Good on him but damn if I wasn't salty doing all the work and this guy just sits back watches me struggle take on 2 bosses and takes the kills.

Lol all the elites sound the same. Its like everyone is trying to out deep growl each other.

On mission 11 now.
Genesis and Sanghelios
were beautiful. Well done 343.

When there's a big boss in warzone now I just camp out next to it, wait for everyone to lower its health and then start shooting it at the last second. I reckon it works about 75% of the time.

Bit of a design flaw really...

Been working through the campaign. On mission 8. Man I just find fighting the prometheans that much fun. The glimpses where I fight the covenant is so much more enjoyable. But those are few and far between occurrences.

It's a horrible feeling when you used to play Halo 3 and 4 a bunch and were really good, and then play Halo 5 and you can't kill anyone in a one on one firefight and go negative or neutral almost every team slayer.

I do great in Swat and Breakout but when it comes to the regular stuff, I don't know, I just choke every time. The aiming feels too loose to me and I don't think it's because you start with AR and magnum. Something's just off in Halo 5 for me and I can't quite put my trigger finger on it.
