Fallout 4 has gone gold; leaked gameplay vids

Part of me thinks their lack of showing gameplay is deliberate. Either it's really good and they want to make a big splash or it's really bad. We shall see soon enough. That said I'm waiting on reviews.

This type of marketing strategy of not showing the game really feels unprecedented for a AAA game.

They did the exact same thing for Skyrim. There will probably be one more launch trailer and that's it.

I just hope the PS4 version runs damn well.

Probably going to avoid the game just a bit to see everyone's reactions and to see if there are any major bugs... also, I'm curious to hear from the fans who heavily criticized modern Fallout games for feeling like "attractions at a theme parks"

Are people expecting FO4 to be more like that anyway?

I am waiting on reviews for this game to see if I should bite right away or wait until Christmas and put time into Battlefront until then... Ugh. Hard decisions!

I don't think there has ever been a season pass worth full price, not only that, but by the time the full season pass content has been released, usually the DLC has gone on sale anyway.ersonally, I thought all Fallout DLC was disconnected and rather shite, so I won't be touching it until reviews come in and sales kick in.

I decided I wasn't gunna get Fallout 4, and was gunna get MGS5 instead - which I assumed would be under $40 by the time F4 is out - but I found out that on Amazon F4 is only fifty bucks with Prime, and I have gift cards anyway, so I'm all in.

Opinions are opinions. Generally, I never buy the season pass but Fallout is different. I remember fond memories of enjoying Fallout 3 so much that I bought every add-on that came out right away on release, and I never do that. I enjoyed them all, and for their price, they werent expensive $5-$10, that I didnt complain. They were great and had cool story plots. And well, I love Fallout.

Another thing is the season pass for Fallout 4 is not expensive compared to other season passes. Season passes like for Black Ops 2 or Battlefront are too expensive. I am happy to chip in another $30 to support the developers and the franchise. The more support they receive, the better the next game will be. I think of it almost as a donation. It is one of the best franchises I enjoy in all of gaming, so another $30 isn't bad for the value in continuing the game. It is only 24.99 if you get the Gold Pack at Best Buy, and in season passes, that is a damn deal. A lot of people are thinking I never buy season passes but for that price, I will this time for a special game.

Fallout 3 felt like a theme park in that it did a poor job of making it feel like a world that the NPCs actually lived in without you. It was more than serviceable world-building for a good action game with a light roleplaying facade, though, which is what Fallout 3 was and what I expect Fallout 4 to be.

You have big memorable setpiece story moments like 'Tranquility Lane' that lean the game in the theme park direction, as well as the decision to blow up Megaton or not, which isn't so much an impactful moral choice as much as it is a decision to see a cool special effect.

Agree I expect fallout 4 to learn of the good things new vegas did.
Like making a believable world were people can actually live and your choices matter.

I'm so psyched. I'm dropping my daughter off at school, calling in sick, and taking the entire day to just play. I haven't spent an entire day gaming since... christ... when did I get married... well since then.

The question is.. will my old rusty GTX 680 2gb VRAM be able to run this at1080p@30fps.
:(

edit: Since it ran WItcher 3 at pretty high settings and 45-50fps im thinking it should.. Come on Bethesda, optimize the shit out of this one.

The 680 is still a pretty damn good card. Don't go crazy on the antialiasing and you'll likely be just fine.

This is exactly what they did for Skyrim, though, and for the same reasons. They want to keep the world and game as full of surprises as possible.

It really seems to me like Bethesda might have upped their game in some important respects. I've been repeatedly binging on what little available information there is on this game and some of the things the team has talked about during interviews and mentioned during the E3 conferences make me think that they've really considered some of the criticisms levied toward Fallout 3. Removing stats and supplanting the old dialogue system with a system like Mass Effects complete with a voiced protag are pretty huge changes that might have some undesirable implications to those who don't expect Bethesda to back those systems up with an appropriate level of depth, but I'm willing to wait and see. As it stands I'm super excited and I'm pretty confident that Bethesda will have stepped up their game with this one.

I really hope so too. I hope they've learned from NV... I havent really played NV, but damn, when I read upon the differences between both games, I became very bothered by it.

Not sure Ill be able to play Fallout 4 if it's like Fallout 3 without the back of my mind making constant comparisons to NV now lol

Still, I'm super excited, but I'll see how you guys react first, just because I like seeing some of you do writeups.

So as far as online shopping goes, Best Buy is currently the best to pre-order right? Shipping is free and will arrive on release date. Can't really beat that, I suppose.

My mother is coming to visit and stay for a week on the release date...

Hopefully she will go to the opera and similar things once or twice so I get at least a few hours to play the game.

I wish I lived in an area where I could go to the opera. I would much rather go to an opera than play any game...period. I bet the venue also play classical once and a while. My ass would be there listening to Vivaldi, Mozart, and some motherfucking Bach. Sadly, I don't know much opera, but you bet your ass I would still go to the opera and Wiki that shit while the piece was being performed and learn the lyrics.

However, this game is Fallout 4. Fallout 4 does look pretty good. I would probably do the same and stay home and play.

Still....its fucking opera dude! You are going to sooooo miss out on that shit.

and 20% off with GCU, which all gamers need to have. So yeah it's really unbeatable.

amazon prime members can get discounts on some games, including fallout 4. it's $10 off right now, so not quite as good as best buy but it's close.

So I guess people have received their copies....

I'm undecided on my PS4 Pip boy order. I know its plastic junk from China to make profit, but it LIMITED junk

The show from which your gaf name was born gave me such a belly laugh i couldnt breath. Congrats Mr Dilkington.

I'm glad I could make you happy. I also laugh at Karl's misfortunes, so no hard feelings. :) However, that is seriously how I feel right now. I live in the middle of fucking nowhere and it would be nice to hear beautiful music bleed out from the opera house into the streets. Instead, my ass has to listen to some fucking supped-up-pick-up truck while blasting fucking country music about some fucking dog and Murica. Oh, there is a fucking train that blows it's horn every fucking 3 hours hence why I'm on NeoGaf at 4 in the fucking morning.

So yeah, I'm a little jealous that someone is near an opera house. I would LOVE that shit. Fuck, I get sick of it.

Sorry to be off topic. I'm just a little upset about where I live is all.

Edit: On a lighter note, I really wish we could see some benchmarks for PC. I know it won't be coming until the game ships...but it would be fantastic to see how it runs. The 8 gigs of RAM requirement scare me.

I thought you must still download part of the game + it unlock before you can play, how are people who got copies being able to get into the menu even unless they got a review copy?

It could be a review copy, and have you ever heard of consoles ? :D

Okay yeah I guess it could be the console version, never played previous ones on console and seeing "Settings" in the menu caused my brain to jump to it being the PC version (yes I'm aware console games have some settings one can set).

There's people playing the game on steam. Peaked at 24 users 15 days ago. 8 People in the last 24 hours. Devs/reviewers obviously.
