I just hope the PS4 version runs damn well.

Probably going to avoid the game just a bit to see everyone's reactions and to see if there are any major bugs... also, I'm curious to hear from the fans who heavily criticized modern Fallout games for feeling like "attractions at a theme parks"

Are people expecting FO4 to be more like that anyway?

Considering PS4 is x86 and not CELL i expect it to run comparably to XBOX and PC

How can anyone handle MGSV, The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4?

So I guess people have received their copies....

And so it begins. Time to dance around spoilers while picking up all good information like perk descriptions :b

Also talk about some ugly menu design. Green box with green text using something like Calibri font. Too... clean and machine like.

I mean, I've played the first two this year. They were brilliant. Now gearing up for F4. Easy as fuck really.

I'm talking about time man. There's just not enough for me. I needed like two months at home to put my backlog in order.
And FO3 is probably one of my favorite games of all time, so MGSV and W3 will probably be put on hold when I get FO4.

Anyone else feel they've done a poor job with HUD design? Fallout 3 was perfectly serviceable but I feel the HUD design they've shown for F4 in the trailers is sub-par, it sticks out too much and just looks lazy. The perk chart looks great though.

I just don't like the static background of a in game location. It reminds me of The Last of Us which I also didn't like.

I think the background is probably rendered in real time. So the camera pans around the set of power armour.

I hope they still do the model viewer for a loading screen like in Skyrim.

Agreed.

Main menu looks way too... clinically clean with it neat little box and super clean font without any stylizing going on. In-game HUD elements are huge blocks taking up a lot space for little information given while using very ugly and dull design. It just comes across as something that was thrown together in few hours by using ruler and they never went back to iterate on it.

From what little I've seen, it's terrible. Hopefully people start churning out UI overhauls soon-ish after release.

Yeah something looks weird about it. I think its the font they used.

Will this have loading screens for entering simple houses/taverns?

Apparently some larger areas / buildings have loading screens, but for most part it should be loading screen free. afaik

Edit: Apparently they are doing whole "Building is 2 meters x 2 meters from outside, but insides are 10x in size" thing with some buildings

I've heard double?

Double was from a Reddit "leak" pre announcements. Other things they said included you could only play as a man and do a main quest, then get a sex change afterwards.

The map is about as big as Skyrim, as per Todd. It had height scale now however, eg there's very tall building in Boston you can scale.

The UI looks much like all the UIs in any game of theirs I've played. Bland, uninspired and functional. Thankfully, basic UI mods will come quickly and with any luck it won't take long for FO4SE for a full blown UI overhaul.

I've heard double?

They've already gone on record that the game world isn't "bigger" than Skyrim; it's about the same size but denser.

Also hopefully these leaks get sniped ASAP. We're more than a week out that's a long as time to step into a spoiler-minefield by accident.

Also if that's the main screen that's ok. It looks like it'll be a shot of your "home" which makes sense.

In terms of game content, the official game book companion is the same number of pages as the Skyrim book.

The official developers Twitter account tweeted they have recorded double the number of voice acting lines than they recorded on Skyrim. So it's very densely voiced.

It's going to be a busy Fall/Winter. I don't know how I'm going to give appropriate amounts of attention to all the games I want. Between this, Halo 5, Battlefront and maybe Black Ops 3, its going to be a wild season for gaming.

It's modern, and clean. That's the font used throughout the game.

Anyeays, as long as you're smart enough to play on PC, you'll be able to customise/mod the hell out of the HUD.

I need to see some of this footage. I haven't felt this in the dark since GTA 4.

They could clamp down on leaks if they actually just release the Gamescom/Quakecon footage. The only reason I can see why they haven't is because it's an old build.

What I think we will get is Perk Videos, one from each SPECIAL, until Sunday before release and then a launch trailer.

I'm on PC and can't wait for mods to fix UI / HUD to be more KB+M friendly while not hogging all the space. Also if that is "modern and clean" HUD design then I don't want be part of it, so much space wasted for nothing. Main menu itself is way too clinically clean, feels cold and not personalised.

With Skyrim they followed the exact same release strategy. A big initial dump of footage, then nothing. Then reviews. Then release. They shipped 30m copies, it worked. They're ahead pre-order wise now compared to Skyrim.
