Fallout 4 has gone gold; leaked gameplay vids

Given the context of when that was said, I'm not entirely convinced that's not a roundabout way of saying "it's not 30 FPS locked." I'm just skeptical/curious since it has seems to be and engine issue that was never fixed, even in Skyrim.

I run Skyrim at way over 60fps.

Still not sure if I should pick this up at launch. It's almost guaranteed to be buggy right?

Any preorder deals for the PC version?

I wonder if Bethesda will bother with an optional higher resolution texture pack for Fallout 4 like they did Skyrim.

Can't wait to see Fallout 4 in a couple of years when the mods are really mature. It's going to be amazing.

Manual for Pipboy yes, but game itself gets tiny leaflet with keybinds.

Damn shame. Why call it a survival guide if you're not going to have cool stuff in it like Fallout 3's manual? Worse thing ever getting rid of manuals this generation.

Anyway, i'm definitely canceling my pre order after seeing that video. There's nothing too impressive in there. I'm going to play around with the pip boy and capsule for awhile then i would hardly touch them again. I would get more use with A MANUAL. The lunchbox was more creative imo. Wish i would've gotten one of those.

Swimming in water in Skyrim gets odd if you go above 60FPS, the game gets really confused whether you're in water or not.

I bought Fallout 3 but never played it more then a couple of hours. So is there something like a Dark Brotherhood in Fallout? Can I make a sneaky guy that stabs people. Hacks computers and uses a sniper rifle?

Sure, just running it over locked / suggested FPS fucks up things in the game. Things like physics and passing of time can get funky.

Like Tova said, I've never been able to do it because of the physics bugs and other oddities that come out of the woodwork at high FPS.

Ah. I didn't know about that bug, I don't have any TVs or Monitors that are higher than 60hz.

Nah, I don't think we're getting a copy.
Bethesda does seem to hold grudges.

Definitely, there is actually a perk in FO3 that let you do more damage to sleeping enemies IIRC. Sandman or something, I'm sure someone can correct me.

I'm thinking about canceling mine too. I have the lunchbox and the new Vegas one, but this one just feels like a waste.

Game can run at e.g. 250FPS even if your monitor is just 60Hz. FPS game like e.g. C-S running at such frames per second on "just" 60Hz monitor isn't waste either as it has direct impact on how game feels to play. To experience physics bugs in Skyrim you just need run game above developer locked FPS.

Yeah. I just always run the games with vsync enabled in fullscreen exclusive mode if possible. Some games I get really weird performance loss when running in borderless windowed with vsync off.

Are there cardgames in Fallout 4? Like caravan or black jack? Is there a casino?

That's all I need. Another Gwent taking up my playtime. I will likely never finish Witcher 3, because It's actually Witcher 3: Gwent in my library. I could have bought the game and assumed the non-Gwent stuff was optional.

I need this game in my life now. As the years pass my hype levels for games don't rise like they used to. For some reason this game has my levels peaking. I love me some Fallout and will most likely start a new play through of New Vegas this weekend to help pass the time.

How safe is it to use a VPN to unlock this on Steam earlier closer to release? Along with that, what would be the region that would get it earliest?

I know it's against the subscriber agreement, but I also know a lot of people on GAF have done it for other games. Just not entirely sure if there's any known cases on here of that backfiring.

Edit: Didn't actually think of this point, this is assuming it has different release times for different locations.

Rule of thumb is that when you have VPN fired up you don't never ever purchase anything from Steam Store. That is stuff that Valve actually cracks down on, hard. That said I have used VPN to unlock games early and still running my original accounts aka not once I have been temp nor perma banned for it.

Still you are going against TOS so you need to acknowledge risk that comes with using VPN to unlock early and accept that it's your personal risk to take, that on one is responsible if shit goes down.

New Zealand btw, 11 to 18 hours earlier access depending are you in EU or US.

New Zealand will unlock the earliest, and AFAIK Valve has never actually punished anyone for using a VPN to unlock a game you've already bought. Its when you use a VPN to purchase games and bypass regional prices that you run the risk of getting in trouble with Big Bad Gabe.

Alright, thanks you two. I think a half-day earlier is too good to resist when it's such a low risk. Just wanted to know if there was ever any evidence anywhere that people were banned for it on GAF :P.

Like Tovarisc said, you always run the risk but I've never heard of anyone ever getting in trouble for just unlocking. I've used VPNs to unlock several games early and never had any issues.

Will definitely be doing again as I'll be able to play Fallout 4 at around 7am Monday morning. Too good to pass up.

Haha, nice. That said I play AK at 4k and locked 30fps, so even with how bad the port is, it's still a far superior experience for me on PC than if I'd got it on PS4.

You belong to that 0.01% of PC gamers that can run AK well. I mean I'm on W10 so I'm looking at 12GB of RAM minimum to get acceptable performance. Fuck that.

That doesn't even guarantee acceptable performance. I have 12GB of Ram and I still get terrible performance even on a GTX 970.

Hardly any surprise...

Being in my part of the uk there are zero independent gamestores so i am forced to wait until release. Damn you all!!!!

Ditto but there is Amazon if you're in an area where Amazon Logistics deliver because Amazon Logistics give zero fucks for waiting for the release day. I've had so much turn up a day early, most recently The Nathan Drake Collection.

But I want Fallout 4 digitally and I'm buggered if I'm paying for a disc version too!

As well as this I hope Simply Games dispatch early as well. Hoping to get this as early as Uncharted Collection (5 days before release).
