Fallout 4 has gone gold; leaked gameplay vids

I think a civilized discussion takes two civilized sides.

"Hey look, there are hardly any shadows"
"Yeah, that seems to be the case"

And that has been in the thread, just surrounded by "It's a Bethesda game, the graphics don't matter" and "This screenshot gave me eye-cancer" comments, which are both ridiculous comments.

Bethesda threads. Bethesda threads never change.

I'm thinking about getting this digitally on PSN but my internet is slow. Can someone tell me how big the game is and when preload starts?
According to the official Bethesd FAQ the game is between 28 and 35Gb depending on the number of voice/text languages included in your regional version

PSN preloads typically start 2-3 days before release so probably the Sunday for a Tuesday 10th release.

Just sludged though a big chunk of that screenshot-thread.

How are my specs? It seems like I'll be OK on PC, but I'm thinking about possibly overclocking my machine or adding more RAM to get the most out of it.

GTX 760
i5-4670 @3.40ghz
8GB RAM

Has there been a single Fallout 4 thread since it's announcement that didn't devolve into a "Does this game graphically look like shit or not" parade?

I was starting to think I was crazy for not thinking every single goddamn post in that thread was trolling or shit posting or whatever. Nice to see at least someone agrees, this thread sounds a bit like an echo chamber which is frankly even more annoying.

Not until this one. It's why I never bothered to post in most threads because no one was discussing the actual thread topics. I lost it when a thread on the never-before-seen perk chart changed 100% into a graphics thread.

I'm glad there's finally a thread specifically about the graphics now so hopefully that discussion can stay in there until launch. I do want that discussion to be had, but it doesn't have to be everywhere.

I think the GPU and CPU are more limiting factors than the RAM, but I bet you could run it fine with some tweaks here and there.

Weren't the official minimum and recommended specs released? I have a pretty dated rig myself (i5 2500k 8gb 7950), but I expect to be able to run it at console parity and get better performance on average. I can live with 30 FPS if that's the compromise for high textures and draw distance.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I'm not really interested in a new GPU, but I'd be open to overclocking my CPU to get some extra performance out of it.

Isn't 4670 a bit above 3570k in terms of performance? I'm 100% sure you won't have to overclock your CPU. The GPU on the other hand, though..

You should be more worried about the 2gb of your 760 than your system memory or CPU.

Stoked for this. Plan on taking 2 days off work to create a 4 day weekend of immersion, but I'm waiting until RTM to make sure there aren't any game blocking bugs. I expect bugs with Bethesda and it's generally safe to assume they're workaround-able on PC, but better safe than sorry.

I don't know if I'm alone here but I'd sure appreciate if screens that aren't part of promo stuff be spoiler tagged. I know a good part of Fallout is discovering these new locations and weapons yourself.

Changed it to a link. Sorry, didn't think about it.

man i have Greg Miller in my friend list.. dude is playing Fallout 4.. i died a little inside when i realized it's only the 31st.

I wanna post this here too to see what anyone's opinion is on it.

Game look great. However, am I the only one bugged by the font? Something about it just looks odd to me. Looking forward to UI mods just for that. I don't know why it's bothering me so much, but it must say something if its the only thing bothering me.

Edit: I think its the UI in general. It all looks weird, "too clean" is what comes to mind.

From screenshots the draw distance is disappointing, I was not expecting the game look worst from the footage that they showed :/

But besides that, the game looks OK. I never expected it to be a looker.

Well, some of the screens (shinobi pngs for example) look very good IMO, really atmospheric and totally nails the fallout feeling from FO3/FNV. Why are people demanding some kind of miracles regarding graphics, it´s a bethesda game on console. I mean like draw distance for example, it´s always going to be sacrificed for other things.
Graphics aside, I really hope FO4 runs rather smooth though, without stuttering and strange frame skipping.
