Halo 5 sales in the UK [Excludes digital sales]

Some individual or company really needs to start providing digital sales data.

Without the data, the speculation in these types of topics drives the heat and insanity up tenfold through guesswork . Like people basing a whole markets purchase trend using a sample size of 10 friends is quite mad.

Rest of Europe is probably even lower...

Not really surprising. A close friend already sold the game.

I'm on the verge of selling it myself. Haven't enjoyed the single player much at all, still have a couple of levels to do but feel no desire to play again. The multiplayer has got old real quick as well. I'd go as far to say the Xbox has been one of my biggest purchasing regrets of the past few years. And I bought Destiny at launch!

In a more general sense it's been a difficult year for uk retail. Didn't August and September have some of the lowest sales in years?

Digital sales now are much bigger than they used to be in the Xbox 360 days, so Idk if we can trust this numbers or not.

The fact that MS hasn't made a comment about the game's sales makes me think it may have underperformed worldwide. I kinda fear for the population, the anemic list of gametypes, the aiming system that many are having issues with and then CoD and BF being right on the horizon makes me think the game could have a bumpy holiday.

Im already seeing the same people... and i still havent played against any german players or even on a EU server...

And yeah there were no Ads for this game here in germany. Ive already seen Syndicate and Black Ops 3 ads on TV. Nothing for Halo.

Not really surprised by this. There seemed to be a real lack of hype and excitement compared to the previous games, and I'm sure Halo 4 disappointing a lot of people and MCC being broken for so long played some part in that too. It's got Battlefield, Battlefront and Destiny to compete with now rather than just COD.

Yep, Black Ops 3 PS4 is everywhere.

The anecdotal evidence in this thread is too damn high.
If i were to use my personal situation to guess the XboxOne sales in my country, MS wouldn't have sold any because none of my friends bought one.

That's how useless it is.

lol at people discrediting GFK numbers.

Believe GAF... believe digital sales are that BIG lol

Because Halo selling that low is IMPOSSIBLE lol

In the UK, I've seen more Fallout ads than any of them, at least during the football.

I got a lot of Halo 5 ads on Youtube though.

No it won't.

Lots of people still play it. Just because you and a few people on GAF don't like it doesn't mean the rest of the world does. It's the most played game on PSN and Xbox live alongside GTA, I bet.

Hell, the destiny silver is the top seller on psn. That game has a massive fan base and it got bigger than the taken King.

You can trust these numbers as they are actual retail sales. Of course digital has an impact and sales will be bigger when adding those in, however, regardless if that number is 10, 20 or 50% at most, it would still make it the lowest selling mainline Halo since the original which was a launch game.

XBone sales in the UK should be a little higher than 360 sales at the same time frame (it took 360 another 6 months to hit 2m which is where the XBone should be now or thereabouts) when Halo 3 launched. Yes, these don't include digital but even if you say digital at the very most is 50% of retail here, you are still looking at (outside of the original Halo) the lowest selling mainline Halo game ever by quite a margin.
That's for sure, not expecting it to break records given all the negative aspects of the brand pre-launch.

This is my biggest complaint and it was touched upon in the OT. I think the EU and US are in the same Matchmaking pool, I haven't heard a UK/European accent but loads of US voices. In pretty sure I'm playing on US servers all the time.

Your mad if you think digital isn't drastically outselling physical.

I can name one person out of a friendship group of 10 people who bought Halo 5 physically rather than digital. That's 10/90% split in physical/digital in my friendship group. I'd say it's a similar story in a lot of other peoples.

.

Yeah, that's not how proper market research should be done, you know?

Fact is, only few people know how many copies Halo 5 sold phyical and digital in the UK (or anywhere else, that is). But for very good reasons they don't spread those numbers around. Hence, everything's in the pudding which is why I suggest to be a little bit more cautious with those numbers.

So, it will be the same case with Uncharted 4, right ?

People need to put less emphasis on it being because Halo 4 and more about Halo not bring the top dog of MP games. COD took a lot of shine. You got Battlefront on the way and Destiny has emerged. Not to mention countless other mp games people play.

The latter is not true at all: for example, Halo 2 launched just after GTA San Andreas. Halo 3 launched just before COD4.

All that's happened is Halo 5 is the biggest selling game of the week but has still sold less than all of its predecessors since the original game.
I don't have data out anything but if previous Halos sold much better and the games you mentioned sold a shit ton too back then, then people are buying less games or waiting for the next CoD or BF. Probably we have now too many big franchises and no larger user base in general.

I don't see how this is really that surprising after:

- Halo 4 was quite frontloaded in sales, but generally had a huge drop off in the multi and a mixed reception to the campaign.

- Coming after a lukewarm reception to Halo 4 the MCC clusterfuck absolutely got a LOT of people voting with their wallets' when it come to Halo 5.

- Think a lot of Bungie diehards jumped ship to Destiny and are not onboard with 343i's vision of Halo

What will be interesting is to see how Halo 5 does via word of mouth and whether it has any legs. The initial signs on the multi side were positive, but more and more little issues are creeping out, and the campaign seems to be very much love it or hate it.

This Halo is all about it's legs IMO

The FOX channel in the UK is sponsored by Xbox One, there are adverts after and before every show.

Ah, that makes sense. Didn't even know we had a FOX channel! Anything for Tomb Raider yet?

Poor TR even MS has marketing partnership :(

Are they even doing a Tomb Raider bundle over here? It's bizarre that I can pre-order a 1TB XBox One with Fallout 4 and the season pass, but nothing for Tomb Raider.

Well the numbers are 100% accurate. Beleive that.

Digital is missing but we know that it's likely about 20-25% of sales at best.

Still leaving room for some quite poor launch numbers for a franchise MS has hung its hat on to sell big and push consoles.

I'd say it's down to a combination of franchise fatigue and the saturated entertainment environment we live in. There's just so many devices and entertainment products competing for our attention in 2015. I think people often forget that. It's inevitable that a series which has been going for 15 years will struggle to pull the numbers previous entries did.
Halo 1, 2 and 3 wern't competing with Netflix, social media and smartphones on release.

The terrible Master Chief Collection launch and first quarter probably didn't help them at all to be honest. Anecdotally, I know a good few of my mates (we're UK based) who are die hard Halo fans and didn't make the switch to PS4 from 360 still are to buy Guardians because of the issues with MCC. I've heard they are dropping for it this week though as it seems solid for MP this round.

I'm sure it'll do just fine for 343 and Microsoft. Just a slow start that will be a combination of things.

Oh totally, I do that all the time on PS4 as well. But then, even if digital sales were counted, we wouldn't be counted in UK numbers.

Yea. I'm aware that I wouldn't be counted as a UK purchase either way. My point though, is that I would have been counted as a UK purchase for every other past Halo game (excluding MCC).

You are quite frankly delusional if you think digital has 900% more sales than physical. It's not even 100%. While I think even 50% is high, especially in the UK, at least then I'd just call you optimistic.

What makes you think it's 900% when no other AAA game, ever, has even matched console digital sales with retail?

Lol some of you just don't want to hear this is the worse selling Halo game, have to resort to the "all my Xfriends" meme yet once again to make up numbers.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
