Fallout 4 PC Ultra screenshots

You think the 770 will have issues with the game? It's only the slightest bit below the 780 that the have for the recommended specs. I can't imagine it's going to suffer much at all if you're running around 1080p.

I have a 770 as well and never once felt like it was going to hold me back with Fallout 4.

Yes, 1080p for me. I hope we'll be ok, obviously going to have to make some sacrifices. You know, the only game I've been able to play at max with my 770 is Battlefield 4. Ah well, such is life.

Arma 2 has absolutely nothing going on on the map though. No interactivity whatsoever and no physics. Hardly a fair comparison. (Not defending Beth's shitty texture work here btw)

Uh? Nothing going on the map, except thousands and thousands of objects in screen at all times, and every object can be destroyed: houses can be demolished, grass and bushes can be flatten down, every tree of the gigantic forests can be toppled, every fence or wall destroyed. And the AI look in real time all that and use them to calculate lines of vision, pathfinding, where to take cover, etc, without any script or trigger.
No physics? More than Fallout or Skyrim, that's for sure! You need physics to have wheeled and tracked vehicles, boats, choppers, parachuting from air...

I think it looks good (textures could be better though). Also those screens are JPEGs with FXAA smeared on top, gonna look much better with some downsampling.

It's not so much that they've done nothing to improve the engine, but more that they have a free pass from fans to makes as few improvements as possible and regardless of how few they make, it will be an acceptable number to people who say "IDC about grafiks or gamplay I jus want more fallout!!"

And it's OK to want more of a game you love, it's not OK to give a free pass to the people making the game as it will just lead to further homogenization based on previous titles until you get a series like COD which rarely innovates until they finally switched things up with Advanced Warfare.

Don't you want the series you love to improve?

I'm sure you do, and you can still enjoy/respect their work while pushing them to do bigger and better things.
But that's the thing is that they made a ton of improvements, (based on footage). Not "as few improvements as possible." It's not a free pass when it truly is a big improvement when compared to their other work. Every company has diehard fans who give them a free pass on anything, i'm sure the game will have flaws like any other game. I don't think Fallout is at risk of being homogenized compared to something like COD, (aside from the Bioware like dialog system).

Its obviously not the greatest but it still looks decent imo, largely due to the art style I guess.

Not a concern though, Fallout is all about everything else.

Have plenty uninspiring games to show off my rig.

I haven't been paying attention to FO4 previews. Image quality looks good judging by the screenshots but my issue with Bethesda games have always been the terrible animations. Have they addressed that or is it still the pseudo ragdoll stuff?

so guys probably the one thing I wanted to know is whether or not there's a level cap.. Probably my most hated thing in fallout 3 and new Vegas was the level caps I would deliberately put it on very easy to not get as much experience I really hope there's no level cap and you can keep on leveling forever

No level cap is confirmed, I believe.

I think they made the bare minimum amount of improvements as would be financially worthwhile, meaning they prioritized making things just good enough to sell.

It's the reality of the business model they follow when only putting out a large scale openworld game every few years.

I commend their ambition and scope as they make some of the most interactive and largest open world games, however I don't give them a free pass on their missteps like other Bethesda fans do.

I don't justify their poor graphical fidelity and poor animations by saying that it's balanced out because the shitty looking world has a lot to interact with.

I want a Fallout 4 that looks good and has interactivity and there's no technical reason that shouldn't be possible in 2015. At this point in time it shouldn't be graphics or gameplay, we have capable enough hardware to deliver much better visuals than Fallout 4 is achieving.

And just because all games have diehard fans that encourage stagnation doesn't make it OK to do so as well.

If they all knocked that off then we would all get better games as a result. Which is not to say experimenting with a game until it's so different it may as well be a spin off instead of a mainline marketed title, I mean making necessary technical improvements rather than small marginal ones.

Fans of sports games regularly get marginally improved games that have issues that go unadressed for several iterations, so they know how annoying it can be, and not to justify that, but it highlights how much it sucks when it happens in a series that only comes out every few years like Fallout.

I guess I should clarify I don't mean homogenization in that it takes elements from other popular games but that they keep the core game play as simple and acessible as possible rather than advancing it with additional options or abilities out of fear of alienating their target audience that buys all Bethesda games day 0.

I'd pay 500 bottle caps to see some 1440p or 2160p screens.
Would also be nice if Bethesda commented on a high res PC texture pack.
(they'll probably leave for the community, but they did it with Skyrim so who knows?)
Oh right, Bethesda would know.

:D -- that looks fantastic !

But seriously, for such a big company (money + people) and for such a big franchise, this looks seriously very bad..

I know that stories and good writting isn't the strength of Bethesda games, but good facial animations and lip-synching do a great deal of putting people into the world, characters and just general immersion.. just compare that video with some dialog scene from Witcher 3, which has great facial animations - mostly by Geralt, Ciri, Yen, Triss, and the other dozens of main characters (not all NPCs have the same detail of facial animations but not a single one has that kind of level of awfulness like that F4 video)..

I looks like F4 is still going to have the same "Bethesda" approach to story and dialogs like in their past games and I don't like it at all

The best storytelling in Fallout for me was always the solo exploration and environmental/text story

Waltzing into decrepit vaults, cracking PCs, reading about what happened.

As Dark Souls taught us... sometimes less is more

Worried about my gtx 860m, that's right between xbone and ps4 right? Will both PC and xbone mods be available from the start, so conflicted

It's why I'd never play a Beth game on consoles. They focus on the world design and exploration opportunities/content over visuals, and modders are exceptionally talented at picking up that slack.

I also disagree that it's wrong of them to let modders do "the hard work" as some people are saying, because Bethesda invests an insane amount of effort (far more than any other AAA developer) into creating mod tools that are as close to the original dev tools as possible. Without Bethesda's work there, we wouldn't get the kind of mods that made Skyrim what it is today. Whether that's visuals, gameplay overhauls, or massive content addons like Falskaar - Bethesda makes all that possible by going above and beyond with mod tools.

Man I was picking it up for xbox, but with this...I just don't know.

If I buy the Pip Boy edition can I use the X1 version Pipboy for this one? I might just get it for X1 as I was and just get it digitally for PC.

Considering how big the game is. Still looks impressive regardless that this is Max on PC. Game is still going to be awesome no matter which platform it's on. Hope some of the people who got their hands on it early. Can maybe give some feedback about bugs etc.

Here's what I would like to see:

A lossless 4K/8K screenshot

Gamebryo/Creation Engine supports without problems resolutions up to 8192x8192 so this shouldn't be a problem.

It does look better than the previous console shots. But it is definitely not a contender for best looking game. We'll see what the modding community can do about that.
