Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

You don't get to pretend you represent a large group of people and then back out when you can't prove it by saying it's just your opinion. That's not how this works.

I have been aroun the halo scene enough to know how people feel about the series.

When I wasn't on the game I was on twitch watching some of the best players and people that love halo.

I have been around the scene enough to know how a lot of people feel.

Other than that, I feel confident to believe a lot of the old fans are gone completely not even on xboxs. Like I said, there is no way to prove it and I understand that. It's just my personal feeling from my experience is all.

It's easy for me think I'm right and just as easy for you to feel I'm wrong. i get that completely, no argument from me.
I would hoestly love to play halo again with some of the people I use to play with, but like I have said before they don't even get on to play any games anymore since the big switch in reach.

After tons of arena games , ı can definetely say that this game doesn't feel like Halo..It's a solid game and better than H4 crap but ı never get the feeling when ı used to get playing Halo 3/Reach..Wish 343 try to make real Halo games instead of trying to cater sprint/ads etc. fans. This game feels more like Cod/Titanfall hybird than Halo..
At least I'm not the only one who will say this. I have been saying this since the beta and people tell me I'm wrong. Halo 5 is fun but it isn't really Halo anymore. It's a whole new game.

If only there was some sort of pistol that only costs 3 points that can disable such a vehicle.

Lol what?! Good luck taking out an Ultra Ghost with a pistol/BR. Maybe you're worlds better than me... but no chance i win vs a halfway sober Ultra Ghost pilot... with a pistol/BR.

Edit: Ohhhh you mean the plamsa pistol... lol ok... fair enough. But still...

I finally got the DMR from my 3rd gold REQ drop. Finally. FINALLY.

I also got it after a shit Warzone match. God I hate Storm... Whatever it's called. Fuck that map. The more I play Warzone the more I lust for BTB to come back without any of this REQ bullshit

What playlist is everyone in more, slayer or Team Arena? I'd like Arena more if it didn't have Breakout. The gametype is fun but it's so different from everything else because of no shields.

I'm in arena more than slayer though I don't like breakout being there. I will swallow that pill over ever playing Orion.

If only....

Suggestion for warzone boss kills: all bosses have a "hill" surrounding them that follows them as they move. Radius varies depending on boss type. Make "damage dealt to boss" and "boss kill" two separate point values, both of which are distributed upon boss death. If a team controls the "boss hill" (which doesn't inherently net you points) and kills the boss, they get 100% of the "boss damage" and "boss kill" points. In literally any other situation (hill contested, enemy kills boss despite boss hill being controlled), the boss kill points are awarded to the killer, and damage points are awarded to their respective gunmen.

Your not wrong but I love this new package and style of gameplay.

I think what you are looking for in Halo still exists in H2A

Yeah you didnt catch my edit lol... but seriously... Warzone isn't balanced... part of makes it what it is though.

With randoms its all 50/50 how balanced it is. Usually its a hard loss or a easy win.

Warzone Assault is on some maps down to a crap spawn system if you can manage to defend/attack.

Overall i love both mods playing solo with RNG groups, but i can see having a slightly functional group with communication be able to turn the tide of a battle.

I just gotta try and get me some groups during the weekend with some of you guys and see if we can rek sum fuuls

Also, there are a lot of people that will like halo and a lot of people that won't. I know this, but i do stand firm that if halo was more halo it would be played and liked by more people in actual numbers. I stand by this firmly. 100 percent.

Because the cod babies win again. Cod started getting more and more "movement" things, so the game started to become more vertical. IMO extreme vertically ruins FPSs. When I turn a corner, I don't want to have to check 3 floors.

Now look at H3. Infinite sprint, basically no sprint penalty, a useless radar that will show you if someone is standing directly on top of you [maybe]. Thus, most areas have no defensive qualities.

Then you bring in that every weapon has an ADS. The developers take that as "hey, they can ALL shot long distance now"... and give us maps like Orion. Picture a triangle. With two power position on two of the vertexes. Now visualize yourself spawning in the third vertex. Constantly. With no cover using an AR/Pistol against a sniper, rail gun, DMRs, and BRs. Somehow no one caught that.

The maps aren't poorly designed for the game their in. If these maps were in any other Halo game they would be awful. Most of them are just chaotic messes that have zero control points. Which is fine for the way Halo 5 plays. But not for the way Halo is supposed to play."

"I don't disagree. But sadly, I'm not a dev. :/

they're changing things in multiplayer that didn't need to be changed and taking risks they dont need to take. It's frustrating, but there's nothing we can do about it."

I'll try to comment on a couple things.

Population - no real way to test this. in 2007 Halo 3 was IT for about 2 years straight other than Call of Duty 4. So people stuck around. Things changed and there are tons of popular FPS.

Verticality did not start recently. Ever since we could look up and down in FPS it's been there. Look at Duke Nukem 3D.

I used to hate sprint but it's needed for the larger areas otherwise it would be SO SLOW. And Warzone definitely needs it. The radar should be improved though.

ADS is cosmetic unless it's a zoom. It doesn't improve accuracy with just the scope.

Maps are yet to be mastered. Plus there are more coming. People learn how to play maps over time.

That's your opinion about changes, and that's all it is. If a shark stops swimming it dies. Games need to change with the times or they will too.

Yeah i've run a few games with loaded Gaf members and they Warzone matches were over within minutes lol. Different game then... but almost feels evil.

haha, yeah your right though warzone is unbalanced due to overpowered weapons.

And that's why i love it

I actually do think it feels like Halo. Halo 5 shifted far away from what made Halo 4 not give me this feeling. While I still need social playlists with vehicles on the map to round out the feeling, what's here feels right.

Warzone is . . . Not, really what I think halo feels like. But if I look at it as a modern day version of that generator battle in Reach, it makes more sense to me.

The core gameplay feels like a step forward for Halo, in my opinion. I detested Halo 4.

Can someone confirm the way radar works in Arena? I thought, at launch, it only showed enemies (red) if they were sprinting or thrusting. Yesterday, though, it seemed pretty apparent that this was not the case, and that any enemy movement within the radar range was tracked. Is this in fact the case? Was I just imagining things at launch, or has this changed?

pretty sure that like in other halo games your center pip will light up when you are giving off movement that's caught by a radar.

You can call it hyperbole but time will tell. Lot's and lot's of people aren't happy with each halo game sure, but it has never been quite as bad as reach, 4 and 5.

I've played Halo on and off (mostly off) for 14 years now...since I was 10!

But i've never played so much Halo in a week as I have this week!

I don't think warzone was needed

So far, i've spent 27 Hours in Warzone!

When was the last time I spent so much playing an Online Multiplayer game? Oh yeah, it was Splatoon!

I do believe I am the sole person on NeoGAF who Warzone was aimed at...and I think you and other "Pros" do not get what Warzone brings to the table. So i'm gonna have my say about how cool Warzone is for me:

1. I like how in Warzone you don't feel overwhelmed too much: In BTB, most of the matches just felt like there was no structure to them, even the objective ones...it's just chaos. In Warzone, there can be quite a few important battles you can be in and make a difference:

- Defending one of your points.
- Attacking a point of the enemy's.
- Attacking one of the Bosses which spawn on the map.

There'a always something a player can do to feel needed on WZ more than they can in BTB.

2. The REQ System provides a good escalation for the WZ Matches: Say what you want about how it's a P2W Money Machine for Stinkle's Yacht Purchases, but I enjoy how Warzone Matches progress thanks to the REQ System. People start out all on equal footing, more or less, but then once Level 2 hits, then Level 3 and so on, you can see the match take a different turn.

Ghosts start coming...and then Warthogs...then Scorpions...you can tell things are getting real when Scorpions come out! And the good thing is: You own the weapons/vehicles, so there is no fighting over it. I hate how in many BTB games, it's just like 4 dudes just rushing to get in the Tank. In WZ, people who want Tanks can get Tanks.

Sure, it is unbalanced due to the cards people own/don't own, but that's the beauty of it! When you eventually get a Tank Card or Rocket Card, you are in control of what you do with it!

3. The Customization System being attached to Randomness? Great Idea in my book! Allows everyone to look different rather than all look the same with Recon Armor or other Popular Ones.

In a way, it reminds me of Splatoon how everyone looked different.

4. Opening Packs is always a highlight for me: I may be annoyed i'm 27 hours in and Level 29...and still have no DMR to my name, but that's always a drive to push forward for me!

-------------------------------

Maybe it's because I have a collectible problem, or maybe it's because i've just gotten Super Casual, but Warzone is probably the best Non-Arena/BTB thing Halo has ever done.

There is a great need for it: Because it's fun.

Not to say it's perfect though as there could be improvements in Halo 6:

- Randomized Boss Timers: All games play out the same right now.

- Maybe more Mini-Objectives within the match like Section 8 did: Escort this AI to an area, Guard this Dropped-Crate like KOTH for 20 Seconds or something, take this flag to a part of the map. Things to spice up the game and keep it fresh.

- 16 VS 16 or 20 VS 20 next time: I think we can do better with a bigger playzone!

What is with the gold on breakout...i'm platinum on everything but diamond on ffa, but gold on breakout...my friend is the same but onyx on swat...why breakout????

Played with a friend who was already in gold while playing my placement matches.

Also it took me a bit to get into the game type. Only played it a few times in the beta and once in Team Arena, so I was not good for a bit.

If you're moving, you're on the radar.

Only exception is crouching.

If you stand still, that also takes you off.

"And handle fools like we need to"

Inspiring speech Tanaka

Loved that bit.

Pretty sure it's always worked like that.

EDIT: Great post by MouldyK up there, y'all should read it. Agree with everything, especially the need for variation in WZ matches and alternate objectives.

Just won a Warzone game 1000 - 974. Those types of matches are so much fun.

What type of pack do weapon skins drop from? I'm yet to get any.

...with real money?

Yeah figured it give it a shot, landed 2 of my first visors.

Not all that expensive and its funding pro scene as well if im not mistaken.

At least i hope so.

Not that it matters since MS gave me $25 or more even, worth of Halo 5 content for free due to my problems. Which is very nice and have sadly given me a more incentive to put money on.. cards..
