This so damn much. Everytime I bring up a great character that should return I think about another great character that should return then I think about another one and so on and so on until it gets to the point that I think they should just do a mega KOF game with everyone back.

Anyway that sounds like a solid roster with good variety... but a bummer that they'd bring back Ramon but not Seth and Vanessa. Especially when those slots are going to Pachinko characters like Alice and Mui Mui.

Just realized Elizabeth team is missing as well.
Their most recent appearances were in 02/Neowave/02UM. Up until now, they, much like Vice and Mature, were always Dream Match fodder. And I was hoping that'd change sometime soon.
While the sacrifice thing is true, an interesting tidbit actually showed up on the KOF 10th anniversary website, where I believe they said that the only ones who were truly "deader than dead" in-canon were Chizuru's sister, Rugal, the Zeroes, Master Nests and Igniz. It's why it was pretty much hinted that the Orochi Clan members could come back at any time, especially while the "seal was weakening". And of course, Yamazaki never died in the first place, because he's that awesome.
Of course, I always believed that KOFXIII's ending was the setup for whatever handwave they wanted since Ash
erased himself from existence and soft-rebooted the timeline

I had this theory that if they wanted to make an SNK All Star game but have the "story" of a KoF game, they could have just taken Ash's erasure from time as a launching point for some kind of new time controlling villain that could bring fighters all across time into a tournament. And there you go, essentially a dream match roster but with a canon story.

I would not be surprised if this ends up being a non-canon/"Dream Match" game because they're still getting the hang of working with 3D. Like how Neowave was their first attempt at a non-NeoGeo game and XII was their first attempt at HD sprites.

Controversial opinion, but I'll allow it.
It came out recently that this was going to be another canon game that furthered the storyline, like a week or so ago. So I guess they felt confident enough in letting it ride, even if it was a new step.
Also, as far as the main "KOF" story goes, Geese never actually died, compared to the AOF/FF/MOTW storyline where his death was confirmed.
Wasn't he in the MOBA?

At least the lineup of characters is good for how the game looks. But nobody will note that they're finally giving us a decent lineup. It's going to be complaining about the spritework. I find KOF fascinating. There's so many people that complain about it and say it's not REAL KOF, yet a lot of these players aren't actually good at how to play KOF. It's like watching STREET FIGHTANS get Jin and drive DAT ICECAR. I'm gonna wait a bit before I let loose the hateraid.
They should make the whole family playable. Team Bernstein. Just give Rugal his CvS get-up to differentiate him from Adelheid. Also because he looks so suave in it.

People would have once again gone ballistic on these "SUB HD, UGLY" sprites.
XII and XIII looked incredible to me. People have shit taste.
Imagine if they added in more frames of animation like they did with older installments. Mmmm.

I'm sure it would have made a ton of money. But in all honesty, just add like ten more characters and I'd be happy. They need to shorten the HD meter though. Shorten that or break the Dream Cancel into four chunks instead of two.
