Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

I just played 3 Warzone games tonight where my team didn't even allow the other team to capture one base. We destroyed a core of one team who only got 40 points.

It was amazing.

Also, Warzone is its own beast that I wouldn't mind a class system in it that tailored REQ cards to what you wanted to use. Also, there should be rules that you can set for selling REQ cards (for instance, sell all standard needlers automatically when the count is more than 10).

I got a cert for a warthog without a turret. Sweet!!

So you're licensed to drive, like anyone with a driver's license. LOL. You have to smile at that one.

Also tell me I'm not crazy thinking this is latency getting me killed in SWAT (skip to 22secs):

Or just a crazy Arena playlist that lets you use whatever you've unlocked on Warzone, kind of like The Iron Banner. I'd love that.

I suspect people might be ~~outraged~~ over it, though, because it would mean Warzone impacting Arena after all.

I'd go an Iron Banner style tighter focus playlist of 4/5 vs 4/5.

I can't wait for BTB, Warzone is fun but the randomness or progress disadvantages get a bit frustrating playing solo or smaller parties. In big parties it's winning streak time.

They are trying to keep almost everything, including the animations and sfx, the same as the original. Also, the power, haha.

It will be a monster.

I get that, but it looks so out of place. At least round the corners, add a bullet in the mag, and take the normal map detail and put it in geo.

Here is the first image of the SPNKr rocket launcher looks amazing a classic Halo design, hopefully they will show us the Mark V helmet soon too.

God, the play lists are fucking awful.

All I want to do is play CTF. Just played 90 minutes of arena and got five games of slayer, and four games of breakout :-/

Edit: Eh, fuck me... Another game of breakout. I'm the problem - I know - but I quit the second the game started. I'd rather have a lower rank but actually have fun.

It's a amazing how much dialogue could be missed if you sped through each mission I replayed the the first two

Osiris talks about how Halsey lost her arm, Blue team has an exchange on how the covenant is falling apart after all these years of fighting and that Kelly wouldn't miss any of it, put a smile on my face when I heard that

I agree with what your saying on the pistol being important and to practice with it.

For halo 5, I can definitely feel the difference in auto-aim and so instead of focusing all my time with the utility weapon (which in some games can feel a bit masochistic), I am sure to pick up those weapons which are easier to use when I get the chance.

A healthy balance is good. i use the map rifles as well sometimes. but 70% of the time its mangum >=D

I'm running ahead of schedule, so I'm tossing out invites to the Warzone Wednesday group. Literally just GIVING these invites away. Send me a message if you want to join, GT = Schooly D

Just had a match in SWAT where my teammate from the start of the match just held down the trigger as he ran. The whole match it was like his right trigger was taped down. What the fuck.

What the hell did they do to the art style of Halo? Ever since 4 it looks like they tried their hardest to suck the life out of it. It just looks like some generic sci fi shooter now with shit filters on it.

The menu font is puzzling as well. It looks like something that would be used by some crappy RainMeter skin. It doesn't fit at all.

Had some good laughs today with my buds because Rig, Eden, and Empire look exactly the same

You know, Fathom is pretty close too, lol.

Finished the campaign. Didn't like it that much.

Me neither. I find it plays better than Halo 4, save for the Warden fights. But the complete lack of story motivation, useless characters meant I'm even less engaged now than with Halo 4.

I mean what was even the point of Nightfall? Introducing us to Agent Locke, only to have him thrust into the starring role, he's a Spartan now, zero personality or any good lines. Just not a fan. Additionally, I hate with the added number of enemies, how accurate some of their shots are or how annoying the encounters have become. Less bullet spongey, but more time just waiting for shield recharge while AI taking a lot of kills all because some random jackal or crawler got a bullet off that hit me while my shields down.

Imagine how short Heroic would be if the Wardens weren't used as artifical longevity for the campaign?

Wardens are a cake walk on Heroic compared to Legendary.

Am surprised people are spending 8 hours on Heroic.

I'm glad the guys here are enjoying the MP, but the REQ system is such a turn off to my enjoyment of this game. It feels like such a disrespect to the player's time.

I was never turned off by Halo 4's MP changes, just a bit burned out on the series overall when it was initially released. However, the REQ system is a complete turn off and makes me feel like I'm wasting my time with the game.

Getting 1500 points in a 20 minute Warzone match only to realize I can only buy a pointless bronze pack feels like such a middle-finger. I just don't even want to waste my time with this anymore. =(

Okay so....where is it? Has 343 realized the game is already out? This isnt the beta test anymore...the weapons and features should be here.

It's so beautiful.

If only the SPNKr was the standard rocket launcher instead of that awful GGT...

I love that thing. It sounds really cool, and its reload animation is both practical and cosmetically pleasing.

It's enough to make an objective man cry:

To be fair, CTF and Strongholds are in Team Arena. Shotty Snipes is not. Are there any maps in Slayer rotation with a shotgun on them?

Fucking landed onyx for Team Swat, and I can't downgrade....so I'm basically stuck against the best of the best at this? I fancy myself not awful at halo, I will go positive most matches, but I would assume Onyx is going to be nothing but MLG Type cats, who clearly are better than me, and I'm stuck with them with no way down to a more appropriate grouping?

Have a similar issue lol... Placed into Diamond 1 somehow. And now I just get destroyed endlessly :p

Sorry for another rant in advance.

I think the worst thing about the multiplayer in this game, and why I'd never actually regard it as highly as other popular online shooters, is because the vast majority of deaths and kills are not well earned or deserved. If it's not you immediately getting caught completely unaware because of the ridiculously inept spawn system, it's you getting one shotted by a power weapons of some sort, generally also completely oblivious to where the shot came from, because you never saw the enemy in the first place!

Only a minority of the time (in Arena) is a death ever from just an ordinary 1v1 engagement, and even when it is, weapon variable often plays a bigger role than actual aiming skill. Like, I happen to bump in to someone whilst armed with an SMG whilst he has an AR, he's dead pretty much guaranteed. I run in to someone who's quite far away, armed with an AR whilst he has a BR, if I have no where to run, even if I whip out my pistol it's pretty much a guaranteed death because in that time he'll have fired enough shots to weaken or kill me. So in that sense the skill factor in Halo 5 is surprisingly low, unless you happen to bump in to someone with the same weapon where neither of you had a one up on spotting the other first. Otherwise weapons have very specific categories of range, and that messes the flow of combat and quality of engagements.

As I'm getting to higher levels, I'm noticing an increasing volume of my deaths are from one shot power weapons. Other games have this issue, such as Destiny for example with super powers, or COD with snipers, I think the difference in Halo 5, and what makes it much worse, is that spawns are well placed in Destiny and COD, you're often put closer to your own people, and not often immediately in harms way (less so in COD, not at all in AW). Halo 5 in Arena at least, is the complete opposite. It will spawn you wherever the hell it wants, whether that's directly behind an enemy, in front of one, in the middle of a bunch of enemies or whatever else, the game doesn't care. Add to that, the lack of kill cam means partied up groups can camp certain spots a little easier.

I'm definitely interested to see how the legs are on this multiplayer, but my guess is player numbers will drop off fairly quickly over time, and level out at something fairly low for Halo standards. There's just so much about the multiplayer that is unbalanced or that needs work. There seems to be less priority given to simple combat engagement and aiming skill in this, than any other online shooter I've played in years. So many variables detract from the fundamental aspect of just shooting standard weapons, or having fair engagements.

Get disconnected from a warzone match, top of the screen says Waiting to join a match in progress...

But I can't actually rejoin my fireteam, so I'm just sitting here waiting for him to finish the match. Lame. Why the hell can't I reconnect to the match.

Pro ghost tactics vs wraith

Yes. A GunGoose up the rear of the Spire results in so many kills. Two of the could take over the whole thing easy.

Yeah, the ordinary goose is a selling hassle.
Gungoose though, does pretty great for its cost.

On the subject of REQs though. Levels up a bit slow if hitting max level is supposed to happen. Especially in the Assault variant.
Subsequently, the highest level stuff isn't seen often at all. Those Mantis commendations are going to take a long time.
