Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

so

who's getting Black Ops 3

I hear they have splitscreen and more than 3 standard gametypes on more than six maps

You cannot really compare Call of Duty games to the excellence of Halo 5 Arena.

The annual Call of Duty multiplayer experience is very casual and not the best experience in a long run. Halo 5 is the first FPS game in a very long time that feels worth my limited gaming time.

I want a skin for my damn Pistol

I actually got a DMR legendary and two skins for it already

BUT NO PISTOL SKIN
As an mostly arena player it is annoying >.<

Here's my 'murica skin. :)

I shoot better with it. Freedom.

I've finally come to the realization that this is the first halo where you need a full team of players who know all the callouts. Mainly because of how fast the game is, how weird the spawns are, and how small the radar is. If you don't have a full team communicating with you the whole time you're not gonna have much fun.

Definitely the most frustrating halo yet to play solo.

I haven't had a full team in Arena at all. That's why I been so glued to Breakout. I know I can win a game by myself and the odds are never too stacked against me.

I'd say CE is the most frustrating. If your doubles buddy isn't giving you good spawns, you're SOL

The more I play and see the lack of features it seems clear to me that 343 got tunneled visioned into just catering to competitive pro players, which is funny, since it's a minority.

Even the beta was all about polishing specific things designed to engage the competitive scene, leaving aside the casual or social players, leaving us to only Warzone.

I'm sure 343 will come around and add features in time. But seems like a naive, innocent move to think people will stick around for much with this content.

BTW, I'm one of the people who will stick around, not a CoD fan since, I think CoD 3 and there's no other shooter that satisfies my MP needs like H5

I got kicked out and said I can't connect anymore. Do a hard reset, start up the game and it works again. And then I have three of the most fun matches I've had today back-to-back .

Praise to Guardians or whomever tripped over some wires.

Do we know if there's any plan to add more REQs in the future?
Here's the link I had it saved on my phone.

NEW REQ CONTENT

One of the coolest parts of the REQ System is it gives us a vehicle to deliver new content after launch. We are committed to developing and delivering new content, including hundreds of new REQs. This steady stream of content will ensure the Halo 5: Guardians sandbox remains fresh and give you new and exciting things to covet and work towards. This is in addition to the more than 1000 REQs available at launch. Speaking of which, here is another sneak peek at some of the REQ goodness we’ll have available on October 27:

Honestly it's why I miss loadouts and Spartan Ops. Campaign would be game-breaking, probably (how do sandbox designers deal with the fact that people can bring a shredding AR or sniper BR into the campaign?) but the more arcade-style layout of Ops would work well. Plus I'm sure S2 or whatever would have been a step up from S1 and 1.5 with the lessons learned.

Good point, something like Spartan Ops would be perfect. I think there was some real potential there and sad to see it dropped. I'd live to see a bigger version of it. Imagine multiple coop fire teams. I imagine it'd be difficult, but I'm thinking more of a PvE Warzone with dynamic objectives. The competition part would be which fireteam could get the most points.

Someone somewhere asked me for some examples of some of the silly spawns, I don't have many videos recorded tbh, but I did manage to get a few examples.

Example 1

Example 2

Example 3

Granted in this example I was a second too late to spot him on my radar, but come on man, I'd literally just spawned.

Example 4

Happened to me for the first time today out of many games in Breakout with randoms. He shoulder charged me so he could get it, then immediately died by their BR after. I hate humanity in general.

Well our guy was shit and died to their BR as well, we lost cause of him really.

Oh well, randoms are randoms and randoms are the worst

I have not like a Halo this much since Halo 3, even perhaps Halo 2, it all comes down to for me is the challenge, Halo Reach and Halo 4 didn't felt like a challenge, maybe was the lack of a real Ranked playlist, but I feel I have to put all my effort into every single match, and be better at my aiming, my awareness and my strafe, more than frustrating the Arena playlist have proven to be a challenge which Im enjoying and it feel gratifying when you get either a reversal, or a perfect. Im having a good time with this game, sure it needs some tune ups, but Damm am I having a lot of fun!

Example 4

Example 1 and 4 are rather blatant examples of your lack of situational awareness, not bad spawns. You have a motion tracker that supposed to be used EXPRESSLY to point out that you're being tailed, etc.

Example 2 is a mix of a poor spawn but once again, a lack of situational awareness. Even as a layman watching, I could tell you were being targeted by the railgun as soon as you ran onto the ledge. Poor choice there.

Example 3 is spotty too, but again, you ran off without clearing your environment. Guy with the Fuel Rod was probably waiting for some poor fool to bolt like a fresh fawn on a winter morning.

Your biggest issue is not poor spawns, but the fact that you aren't really aware of your surroundings.

what the fuck is wrong with people? I start Breakout and a guy betrays two of us, and then two leave and it's 4 on 2 for the rest of the whole game.

This. It's like tunnel vision, god forbid he turns.

that can't be possible. we're all great halo players.

Yup, in one game i had 3 betrayals on me by 2 different people because i got the br before them.

Edit;

Just checked and i have 47hrs 44 mins playtime in halo 5 already. This game has consumed me.
Still no DMR :)

Well in the number 1 example I do think it was a shity spawn, but Im positive this isnt the only Halo this happen, and Rig is one of the map that is the easiest to predict spawns.

Get the hell out of here with that lol. You shouldn't be being targeted the moment you spawn full stop. It's sloppy design, and that's the only reason people are having to watch their backs, front and sides the moment they spawn in the first place!

A well designed spawn system would at least give you reasonable ground coverage closest to the nearest enemy, or put you in a position where you can't so easily be cheesed. This is not really an issue in any of the other popular online shooters, third or first person. Advanced Warfare and Halo 5 are the only games that really drop the ball in this regard.

How about H5 gets a mode called "Flood" in which you survive wave after wave of flood while using points or REQs or whatever on a small-ish map

It will be CoDs Zombie mode, which is really all i want from a CoD.

I always wished that Battlefield would have something like that. A Battlefield mode where a team of 30 is fighting countless zombies with tanks and choppers etc. Kind of like World War Z

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt since I just saw the first vid, here's my take: USE. THE.FREAKING. RADAR.

Spawn was weird, but you could've avoided him fairly easily.

Yeah, but Scattershot Guy wasn't waiting behind Nib as he spawned. He came from the right as Nib reached the top of the stairs and more so, you can see him coming in the motion tracker.

Edit: Nib, you're making yourself look bad. You ran up the stairs and met an enemy who was canvassing for victims. You're at fault. He didn't fall out of the sky on top of you. SMH

Yea Ex 1 he spawns and walks forward and a player is right next to him with a shotgun. Even if he checked that corner off spawn he still would have gotten wrecked.

So I lead my team by a mile every Breakout game but because we don't win because I'm teamed up with idiots I don't rank up. Apparently 343i only wants those who can gather 3 other friends every time they play to actually show their true rank

Still wider than Halo 2

2004 is a long time ago...

Ok here how you do it.

Take a existing Warzone map, remove the cap points and make a bit more open space.
Remove bases.

REQs come by Airdrops (Pelican drop) at a said location.

TADA!

I've been sticking to Warzone so far till I get comfortable with the controls (jumping between games doesn't help) but even in a more causal setting getting a reversal or perfect is the best feeling. Brilliant new medals. I'm really looking forward to see how support continues going forward and I'm really hoping forge ends up being as extensive as it appears.
