Question: so far the only town/city I have seen or heard about is diamond city. Is there only one major city in the game? If we want to sell something do we have to trek all the way down to diamond city or are there closer places to sell stuff to the starting location?

if its anything like any other bethesda game there will be roving caravan sellers and outposts and such.

It's happening!

Goodneighbor/Scolay Square is confirmed, though it seems to be a lesser hub.
I would imagine that all of the factions HQs would be well populated with quest-givers, merchants, etc.

I'm torn between which gender I'll play as. I think it's fun and in some way important to play a role I don't normally live. So I want to go with a woman or a black male. Not sure though. I think it would be cool to have that "I was a mother and my baby died. Fuck all of you!" hovering over my play through. Idk though

Best Buy, nice!

I checked mine earlier and still "Preparing your item for shipping". I miss the good ole days when BB used to ship everything early. I used to get everything on monday but then it suddenly became release day or wednesday so I went with store pickups whenever available.

It's been preparing for the past couple days it was torture lol!
I hate you!!! I hope mine ships soon. :(
Don't be jealous I can't play it till next weekend anyways, have a massive exam next week @.@. Next week should be a national holiday.

Can we preload on steam yet?

I don't know if I should buy on GMG where it is £32 or just buy it straight from Steam. My concern is that I won't be able to run it 1080p 60fps with settings I'm happy with. I'm just shy of recommended specs. the only difference should be lack of hyperthreading and whatever performance difference there is between an OC'd 290 vs a 290X. There were rumours that it'll use gameworks so not sure how it'll run on AMD hardware.

The problem is that if I buy from GMG then I can't get a refund but if I buy from Steam then I can get one and rebuy it on PS4.

Balls is one of the voiced names? Well then

I'll be Balls

Still undecided if I'm gonna be male or female, though

My character is going to be Balls McGee, the baddest woman in the wasteland...

I'm not trying to be a kill-joy here or anything, but I honestly read this more as an argument to lock this thread than I see it as a reason to let the OT go live now.

Why is getting hyped frowned upon?

So is it going to be possible to unlock this game early on Monday using a VPN or something like that? Steam used to say Nov 9th but now it's Nov 10th again.

Seriously... The spoilers are out there!

BE CAREFUL GAF!

(stay away from Fallout Reddit)

Thanks for the warning. After hearing about trolls posting spoilers on the Steam forums, it was just a matter of time before Fallout Reddit got hit.

Staying well away from there for the time being

My Amazon order says that it's expected to ship on the 6th, which is today. We shall see. Usually things ship on Monday and arrive Tuesday.

The problem that we were having over time is that prior to release, OTs would just be havens for the hardcore superfans. So when the game comes out and people start playing, people that hadn't taken up residence in the OT for the past week making sure everyone had their tickets for the hype train would start playing it and commenting. Now, sometimes these impressions were positive and it fit right in with most of the population of the thread. But sometimes, these impressions were negative. And this is where the trouble started.

The thing that we want to convey is not "hype is bad and you should stop being excited about things." However, we have come to realize over time that hype culture can be very toxic to honest discourse about a game's quality. When the superfans have already set the tone of the thread such that this is a place to praise whatever game we're talking about as the greatest thing since sliced bread, the people who would stroll in to say "you know, I've got some complaints about this game" would tend to get shouted down in quick order.

So, the decision we reached is that we really needed to do something to try to combat this. OTs are not designated safe spaces where only those with good things to say need apply for entry.

They are randomly PM'ing members of the sub with ending spoilers, and responding to comments with half of a regular sentence and the later half an ending spoiler.

Basically just being douche bags.

I've been against the OT rules since the day you came up with it, but I've never actually thought of it that way.

This very thread was some days ago for a short while the sort of superfan haven you're talking about, and when you put it like that... I have to agree with the rule.
