Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Imagine if there was no Warden, what the size of the campaign would be. It was just sheer artificial lengthening of the campaign putting that
kind of frustrating enemy mechanic in. Now of course people will say, oh it's so easy, do this or that, or you can skip it. But I'm sure most of us the first time we encountered him took a long time, especially on heroic or legendary. And once you figured it out, it's why they added more no?
.

I mean the
walk around levels where you have to listen or talk to someone, the Warden fights especially on solo heroic or legendary, without these the game runs much, much shorter and is far too easy.

I'm actually confused why they don't allow deranking. Quite a few are complaining that they are ranked much higher than they need to be and now getting destroyed, so it makes no sense keeping them in diamond or platinum or whatnot.

It's not about that really, I worked hard getting those wins during the 10 qualifying matches so I definitely earned that diamond.

I've just been having shit luck these last 2 nights, I try my best for the win but my team just isn't pulling their weight so losing is super frustrating.

Doesn't help either that I'm always facing against a party. Earlier tonight a bunch of randoms and I were getting destroyed so badly the other team started losing strongholds on purpose just to mock us.They finished the match once they got bored smh

sigh

For anyone with the limited edition of the game --

Does the included "14 Premium Req Packs" code dole out Reqs every week or all at once? And are they GOLD packs? Seems odd to me that they'd make you wait and dish them out on a weekly basis -- that's what I'm curious about. Would it really throw the balance of the game into chaos if you had Them all at once?

2 special req packs a week for 7 weeks. I think this is so that warzone isn't thrown out of balance and also gives players a reason to log in every week.

Not liking Shotty Snipers much. Halo 5 already has such a poor FoV coupled with the sniper makes it so claustrophobic using it for large periods of the game. Just had a match and the lighting on Empire I hate as well. Destiny sniping is much better and just 'feels' better in my opinion.

The shotguns and sprinting just makes it unfun. I don't want to be shotgunned all the time. That isn't something that needs practice. I only play the mode to practice my snipe.

A lot of the maps in the playlist arent fun anyways, not for sniping.

they are special REQ packs in green and you got two a week for 7 weeks.

Yea I thought I remembered the figure for Onyx was aiming to be top 2% too.

I think the current ranking system is quite good except the placement matches. Just did all of my placement matches with a friend in Shotty Snipers...

My K/D: 1.616
Overall K/D spread: +61

His K/D: 2.723
His K/D spread: +112

Obviously we won the same number of games.

I was placed Onyx. He was placed Diamond. Idk how the system came to that conclusion but clearly I should've been Diamond and him Onyx.

Needs work.

I don't understand ranking, I did very well and got placed in plat. I did play every game alone, and I went postiive every game. Lost 4 of the 6 or something. But even a pro player would have had hard time winning a few of those alone.

I had one guy on my team called little rick or something, dude was looking the wrong way shooting and crouching. he must have been 4 years old.

Just finally got round to watching The Fall of Reach animated series. Was quite disappointed
that it didn't actually show the fall of Reach :-/

i just finished the campaign and i have to say...

what's with all the people bitching that "it's the worst campaign in the series?" the hell? if anything i thought it was by far the best, and i actually really liked the ending.
it sets up the next game that we know is coming to be incredibly interesting by making you the underdog again.

also, i normally play halo on normal, but since everybody was like "normal is super easy this time" i played on heroic (solo). took me 8 hours, and there were several parts where i kept dying over and over. don't understand why people are like "it's so short!!!!!111!!!!"

edit: on and on "misleading advertising":
they did the chief v locke thing. and the whole thing was about locke chasing after chief with oni scared shitless that chief will join cortana and fuck everything up, which is pretty much what the advertising was showing? even the hunt the truth stuff, if you want to make that a point, tied into with "what exactly is cortana doing and is she telling the truth?"

I still think Halo 3 is the best, but Halo 5 is damn good too. I've been saying what you've said in regards to the whole Locke vs MC debate, and totally agree that it was there. The fact is, its just small potatoes compared to the juicy steak of Cortana being back and having plans capable of changing things on a galactic scale. A game based around Locke vs MC would only be good for a spin-off Halo game, not the mainline ones.

Had no issues with the length either, but I take my time checking out the scene and looking for the intel. Playing on Heroic also helped though.

it's quite short, 2nd half of the campaign is just a slug throgh the same boring areas. While they look sort of nice they aren't really designed very well and the look gets old quickly when they become more linear.

Haha, seems like the pressure of ranking so high getting to you, because you now always gotta be on top of your game. I do think they need to really make parties match parties first and then if that's taking too long, make them match singles or doubles etc.

Yeah, the small maps, coupled with the new movements and traversal means it's less about actual sniping and map control, as opposed to sprint and shotgun. I'd probably prefer the next time they bring this back, to just limit it to Snipers only. No shotguns.

In heroic I didn't have any issues with
any of the warden fights other than the fight with 3 wardens at once which only took 3 times
. I don't think it really lengthened the campaign all that much unless you were doing a solo legendary run.

I completely agree. Halo 5's campaign mode was a huge improvement over Halo 4 in every single way. Where Halo 4 feels more like a linear corridor crawl, Halo 5 has some of the largest play spaces since arguably the original trilogy. It's not any shorter than Halo 3's campaign either which imo has it's own share of problems.

I never get why people consider the talking missions as something that artificially makes the game longer. It's not even like in Gears of War 3, where when you walk through a civil camp, your speed is reduced. No, here, you can just go talk to the guys in a minute. It's fast, and it added something new and cool to Halo. Can't you just enjoy something a little different?

However, I'll agree that
they put too much Warden fights in the game. There are like, nine, and I feel like they could have taken 3-4 out, reducing the number of levels they appear in in the mean time.

But, no, the talking missions are fine. You can finish them in a minute on replay.

Okay, you know, I'm starting to think the rating system needs major reworking. It's too hard to rank up a tier, but super fucking easy to get placed really high in your placement matches. Which makes it defeating when you can't rank up for shit, but know damn well if you replayed those placement matches you'd be higher.

Why is this game trying to be relevant in the Esports domain? People quit, and the team they were on just gets punished. What. The. Fuck. Is the punishment????

Why doesn't the team that LOSES their player get helped out? it's just...so...bad..

Playing MM in this game. :(

I was talking to a buddy about this the other day - I feel like there should have been a level between Meridian and Sanghelios - preferably in space or on a Covenant ship.

I feel like traditionally, Halo should have a "Covenant Ship" level.
Yes, I know not every game has one.

Maybe they could have gone to one of Jul's ships on Halsey's Intel to get some data or something that she couldn't smuggle out prior which then contributes to how they find out that a guardian is on Sanghelios etc etc

Going to start mopping up the skulls.

Is there a specific difficulty you need to play to find them?

I have a feeling previous games were Heroic.

Most can be found from easy to legendary, but at least one can only be found on legendary, if what I'm reading is right.

The point of the ranking system is to place you in matches against even competition.

If you are winning 50% of the time, you are ranked appropriately, and don't need to rank up.

Halo 5 AngryJoe Review & Spoilers Discussion!

Might be worth a listen to see why he gave the 6/10...

...also, complaining about REQ Packs? Oh no he didn't!

EDIT: He says 10/10 Reviews are objectively wrong.

UGH...he was like "I don't like the REQ System because it has the potential to be abused...you'll come crying to me when in Halo 6, 7, 8 and 9 they change it and push the boundary."

I don't get the REQ hate from him. It's there to cash in on impatient people with money to burn whilst benefiting the rest of us. Compare it to the shit Activision is pulling with BLOP3 and Nuke Town (reading from the thread on front page of GAF) and this game seems light years ahead of its competitors.

He says in the video he'd rather buy map packs but doesn't seem to address what that does to a game. Unless he does later but I stopped at that point. Love Angry Joe but his whole take on this game comes off as confirmation bias. And Del playing the game next to him. If I was that bad at a game I'd probably hate it too I guess.

Wow, that railgun. Didn't like it at first but now, holy shit it wrecks. Great for picking off other players engaged with my teammates

feel at a lost in shotty snipes, I was never this bad in halo 3 or other halo's at sniping.

What is going on here? everyone is like a sniper god, every game I play they head shot me, no matter if im sprinting, dashing. I always get killed in two shots. and the shot gun range my lord, somtimes it feels like 20 feet.

Is it my high ping or i just cant do this? I feel lost.

And i always feel im not shooting them when i get kills.
