The Frame Rate of Fallout 4 in Interiors is horrible [PS4]

They didn't go above and beyond imo. They needed to sell the consoles at a loss with better gpus and slightly better cpus to go above and beyond but instead they played it safe. Ram is cheap as hell. I'm hoping for a short generation because we are already seeing games 2 years in running poorly and some on one console doing it at sub 1080p in 2015. 8 years of this will suckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

I haven't seen a lot of games that run 'poorly' on consoles. They don't match PC performance but they were never going to. Don't take Bethesda's incompetence as an industry standard.

CD project red publicly acknowledged that the console versions were shit prior to release? I don't really believe that.

Yes. As far as i remember they showed alot of footage pre release with big frame drops on PC version (also about the graphic downgrade). And they always told they would be do they best to deliver a good experience at release. Thats why there was a patch 1.03 in day one for install.

They got called back again for both console versions (this was pre release), and they never hidded the version had issues, they always told they would work on it to make it better, and they did made it better in both console versions.

That was a catholic religion dark joke, im sorry if u didnt got it, maybe u dont know the dark side and past of some catholic priests.

To be clear i was not comparing Bugthesda to a child molester, i was comparing Bugthesda with a Religion, that can do many things wrong and always get away with it because is praised by so many.

Your "joke" was fucking stupid

This game will win GOTY awards left and right regardless of its performance. Kind of a shame because The Witcher 3 delivered the most beautiful open world game I have ever played this year.

Which also ran like "shit" according to many here, it was only recently patched to fix the majority of performance issues.

Note that I think TW3 ran fine before, and it is still my GOTY at this time.

Witcher 3 runs poorly on ps4. I beat it and its my game of the year. I also had framerate drops in Bloodborne this year another great game. It's just the standard. Witcher 3 even playing it today has one of the most annoying uis and menu lag along with super long load times and fps drops.

So just to recap afaik what's going on in this (fast moving) thread:

- Title of the thread makes people think the PS4 version (specifically) has major FPS issues inside buildings
- Video posted by OP showed some (minor for some, major for others) slow downs in about 3 instances
- Many argue they don't really see it, others that it is a major offense and that it looks horrible
- Another video is posted with a scope zoom that shows a major hit in fps
- Some deduce that if the PS4 version has serious technical problems, then the XB1 version must be fine and imply they are switching their pre-order (whether they are joking or not is left in the air)
- Some others freak out taking for granted that the XB1 version is superior (without evidence) and start accusing Bethesda of being paid off by MS to mess up the PS4 version (which may or may not eventually be patched). Again, whether THAT is a joke or not is left up in the air.
- Bethesda is generally ridiculed for releasing majorly glitched titles, specially on consoles, but overall on PC as well
- Some people report videos and player posts (on reddit and other places) where no problems are being mentioned on PS4

That about it, or did I forget anything major?

about covers it. the part about bethesda being paid off is just blowing my mind. People are just going apeshit now.

Fallout 4 |OT| From where you're standing it must seem like a couple patches could fix this. Truth is...Gamebryo was broken from the start

...And the Witcher 3 had performance issues on launch on PS4 as well.

Yeah. Wasn't that 1080p on PS4 v. 900p on XB1 though? Compared to both Fallout 4 versions being 1080p? So the framerate being worse on Fallout 4 PS4 would make less sense in this case than Witcher 3, wouldn't it?

Some people claiming to have the game are saying it runs just fine, clearly some people say the opposite. There's so much anecdotal evidence running through the river of gaf this week, man. Shout out to people trying to be civil and understanding how circumstantial everything is at this point, both reasonably positive and reasonably critical side. But man, the knee-jerk reactions and hyperbole are some of the most sever I've seen on gaf this year.

I've just given up. I can't wait for the game to come out now to just end the bullshit from whichever one of the sides at least.

I'm one of those blind old farts who didn't even notice most of the performance problems with TW3... until most were fixed last patch and I realized how much better it was running. Fucking map still stutters while scrolling though, that didnt happen at launch

Lets be honest Witcher performance was pretty aweful in places until the more recent patches.

That kind of framerate is usually a deal breaker for me. On the other hand I have a Fallout 4 pre-order for 30% off from last summer's E3 Amazon promo.

I have a tough decision to make by this time tomorrow.

If they can't keep solid performance with those jank graphics, they should've just dropped the resolution. It's not like anything you'd be looking at in this game at 1080p wouldn't still look muddy as hell regardless.

Maybe some of that fancy dynamic resolution stuff would help?

Not surprised by this at all... In fact, for a Bethesda game, this isn't the worst by a long shot. Probably not in top 100 bad bugs in their game catalog.

Games, are running better than previous gen, compared to the same point in time as well, and on PS4 they maintain the 1080P res better than last gen's 720, so basically what you just said is bullshit.

Ask that question about Journey.

The Witcher 3 wasn't only beautiful, but it delivered on almost every other aspect as well.

not for me. The game performed like ass a lot of the time and the combat was typical witcher crap. I reaaaaaaalllly thought the combat in that game was unbearably bad. Especially coming from bloodborne. witcher 2 was actually more reliable and precise for sure. Also the ubisoft open world didn't impress me in the slightest. and that horse. that horse was so fucking terrible I would have taken major points from my review score for that alone. really, the only truly great thing about the witcher 3 was the writing. and for that it deserves a lot of praise.

It's not though the leap from last gen to this gen is the smallest leap ever in consoles.

It's a Bethesda how foolish can you be. As usual I will buy the GotY version with patch fixes and all the DLC for a cheap price.

Honestly I loved Witcher 3 maybe my GOTY right now but it had major issues on consoles itself.

Hell I had people, buildings entire street blocks disappearing and loading in right around me in Novigrad.

Damn saying you're getting the Xbone version

is liking punching someone's mom or something ... calm down people

let them decide whats best for their own experience

When developers do their homework and optimize properly, you also get games like MGS V that run butter smooth and look equally good on all platforms. It's not hardware that's lacking, it's the developers and the pressure of handling multiple platforms.

Looks like a lot of new gamers these days who have no prior knowledge of Bethesdas track record. They make some of the buggiest, unoptimized games there are from a "AAA" dev. Some "bugs" were killer in the past on PS3 and PC. And many bugs didn't show until the games were released even. This will be no different.

Best advice is to wait patiently for pc modders to fix the game then buy it at a discount since it'll be cheaper by then too on pc. Also, stop buying their games, that will maybe get them to actually put out a proper product. Maybe.

2 questions

1. Is this noticeable in the vault section of the game?

2. is this common and happen in most interior areas or just some?

I don't understand why so many people always just assume performance issues are due to the GPU when the CPU is the weakest part of these consoles. I suppose they could be memory bound as well, in which case lowering the rest could help. Do we have any idea what the max usable RAM for each system is at this point?

I bought Skyrim and Fallout 3 at launch on ps3 and they both ran much worse than this imo. Fallout also had tons of game breaking bugs on ps3. Still beat both and loved both but maybe that makes me crazy.

I'm not upset by the frame drops because I was expecting them to run like garbage. Still pre ordered it they make fantastic games.

Yeah, I think the PS3 is a special case but maybe this doesn't matter with Bethesda and heavily prioritize one version?

I watched a lets play linked earlier in the thread in an outdoor area on PS4 and it didn't look as bad. Has been deleted since. I expect a patch to fix the PS4 indoor if this is genuinely how it is despite all the PS3 debacles. They also took a lot of flack back then.

Metal Gear Solid 5 also has incredibly barren environments with very few dynamic world events and last gen texture quality even on PC. They set a framerate goal and hit it but it came with many compromises.

PC version Christmas purchase justified!

And wait, was Todd not boasting about a locked 30 experience on Consoles and saying how there would be no "Bethesda Jank"?

So much for that.
