Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

So I get all this crap like needlers and jeeps from the gift packs. What am I supposed to do with them? Are they for a full match, or just one life?
Sell them if you don't want them. They are one time use cards, meaning you only have them for the lifetime in game after you acquired them.

Sometimes during a 49-49 score line I wish I could just control my team mates.

"Alright guy going 5-13 and guy going 4-17, just stay in the corner hidden, don't move. Drop your controllers. Seriously just stay in spawn and me and the other guy will go out there and try to win."

"Dude why are you pushi-... Okay... Good game..."

Some people's first instinct is to constantly rush, chase after players and trade kills. I've seen it happen all the time when the score was that close.

No kidding. It's such an issue without mics. I sometimes activate the mic even when no one has it in these situations so at least the team can here me when we're losing through their TV or whatnot. It's 48-49, stay hidden don't move out, let's stick together etc. But nope, same guys run out and get killed, game over.

We might be on opposite sides of the same coin here. When it's 49-49 I have a habit of not trusting my teammates, so I get aggressive and try to snag the last kill before they can die. Gets me killed sometimes, but as long as I end the game positive I can blame them anyway.

They are one-time use "cards" that let you spawn with vehicles and power weapons in Warzone only. If you don't want them, sell them to get more RP back that you can put towards buying more REQ cards.

Ah, so they are for Warzone. Haven't even tried it yet, been too busy with Arena. And single spawn as I suspected. Thanks!

The way I see the whole Twitch thing is that - on top of Halo fading out the public sphere and being "difficult to get into" - the games haven't been interesting to watch for a very long time. Out BRing people just isn't cool anymore. There aren't many personalities in the community that can sell the game either.

Halo 5 at least has potential to "please the crowd" with the Pistol start and new movement abilities, but the maps are lagging behind in that regard.

When you're watching any other game, it's either for the "trick shots" and clutch plays, or the strategy. Halo in recent years has not excelled at any of those, and it's only in the serious competitive games where that experience shines.

Console exclusive will explain it belong lower than multi plats, but not as low as it is.

Wut? Halo is absolutely filled with those things... The main reason it doesn't have much twitch following is it's an xb1 exclusive. Twitch is dominated by PC games and multiplats, so being limited to one console doesn't help matters.

It used to be. Did you watch the Halo 2 Anniversary tournament last year? It was so dull. There were like 2 noteworthy plays that I can recall (exterm on Lockout and the snipes on Sanc) and both of them weren't tremendous plays for pros. I'd blame the maps first though. Warlord isn't good for spectating.

Maybe Halo 5's first championship series will bring in some new viewers.

I can't wait for them to boost the motion tracker back to 25 meters. As it is it makes it far to easy to camp.

It actually does the opposite. If it was bigger, you'd know where players were from further away, so you'd spend more time crouching to drop off radar.

Nobody camps in games with no radar. Maybe they hug corners and spend more time going for back smacks, but they certainly don't walk around toggle crouching.

Played a game of Rig yesterday where most of the other team was crouching around with ARs and the Scattershot. As soon as they saw you on the radar, they'd throw a nade and pop out. And all the entry ways to come up behind them were at a height disadvantage.

It was a mental case and it's the fault of the Radar first and the map second.

That's because Halo2A ruined some pretty awesome maps (I really don't understand why they couldn't just visually update the old maps) , not because halo can't deliver those types of plays.

I've already seen some clutch plays, great strategies, awesome, comebacks, and amazing shots in H5... I'm sure HCS will bring more. Whether or not these things bring viewers remains to be seen.

I haven't been keeping up.

How come H5 is so low on the twitch rankings?

Low for a new game that is.

I hope the tournaments get people moving back over to competitive Halo. MLG tournaments used to toss Halo into most viewed or top 5ish. Now the gaming landscape is p different. Probably would not be able to compete with LoL or Dotes but it should EASILY be king of consoles because this is a GOOD HALO finally. There's been such little money in competitive Halo people have just stopped watching it pretty much all together. Thankfully it seems REQ packs will fix this.

Second, and this is such a shame Frankie ignored my email about this, by now 343i should have official round the clock streamers that promote their game, play w/ viewers, run mini tournaments, run contests, drop codes, gear giveaways, etc. I'll do it if I have to I guess!

Anything to get Halo 5 up in Twitch because, well just look at the Twitch stats, mind shattering how large it has become.

Holy fucking shit.

I just had a chance to play Shotty/Snipers.

I've played six games out of my ten to get a CSR ranking. We've been 1 man down from the start for fucking FIVE OF THEM.

It's infuriating.

It's great when that happens, isn't it

Yup. There needs to be some crazy clamping down on quitters.. Never been this bad before.

I did some shotty snipers and had all of my team quit.

We started out bad, I was the only person with kills, so they quit.

I refused to do that, even though that was going to murder my kdr. I ended up not that bad though, like 15 and 20, because 3 of the 5 on the other team quit because I was having to use hide and seek tactics.

Love this game though. Amazing.

Why was quitting so rare in Halo 3, yet in this game it is absolutely rampant? Is it because gamers are just changing I guess?

I don't remember quitters being any more rare in Halo 3, or any other Halo since 2.

You've also got a lot of people trying it out for the first time and getting frustrated most likely.

People quit in past games.

Also, if they quit at the very start of a match their game probably crashed I've seen that plenty and its happened to me twice.

Also disconnects sometimes.

I really don't think its any worse or better.

I scanned the environment and looked at his angle, there was no enemy anywhere there.

Didn't count as betrayal, weirdly. Some enemy dude got the point.

If you die by a friendly hand but an enemy has recently damaged you, it usually favors giving the point to the enemy. It's so that in a wild clusterfuck of a firefight, a few stray shots wont get someone kicked. Some enemy must have popped a shot at you at least.

It's a good implementation, it just has a few instances where it's not so handy. Yours, for instance. Also if you commit suicide or fall of an edge after being shot by an enemy, they will also get that point.

I actually get a lot of random disconnects in 5 for reasons I cannot explain. My wifi/internet are fine and I have no issues in any other games.

This is the most torn I've been on a game in such a long time. The controls are so great - and the player agency is unrivaled compared to pretty much every other modern FPS. Seriously, with the elite controller, I love zipping around with boost, climbing, sliding, etc. And all in 60 FPS, too. Feel so good. Love the weapon load outs, love the pseudo-iron sights. Love the recoil. Love the verticality of the gameplay.

Pretty much hate everything else.

Hate the maps. The spawns. The grenades. The pub community. Hate the playlists. Despise the lack of BTB. The core gameplay is really great - and I have no doubt it will collect a really strong, "hardcore" following. 4v4 SWAT and Slayer matches on small maps. But man, it has absolutely nothing that relates to why I loved Halo CE and Halo 2 so very much.

I know I keep posting the same thing. It's just... I love how the game feels... But I'm just not having fun. And I'm waiting... hoping... For the game to click.

4 games, 3 with quiters one with an afk... Wtf. Im on an unlucky streak. It doesnt help when the opponent has 4 solid players and we down a man in 1 min

I got put into a warzone game well already underway this morning, I thought that didn't happen? the team was a couple of peeps short even after adding me, it kinda sucked I got thrown into a game on a under man'd team. I even respawned right in-front of the enemy and they killed me within seconds.

that said: I love Warzone.

Quitting was bad in Halo 3. I remember being the last one on my team and wrecking the opposing team.

On the other hand, recently on Halo 2 Anni my team members kept quitting and I would be the last on my team and get completely ruined.

Btw you can get a target rich camping environment if your team quits in shotty snipers. They can't even rush you safely.

They do have JiP for Warzone only.

Anyone want to play some Arena (preferably Shotty Snipes)?

Platinum in S/S & Slayer, Diamond in Team Arena, and Onyx in SWAT & FFA if it matters.

Gamer habits are changing. You could go 4 loooong rounds of 1-bomb with nobkdy quitting, however many were planted. Now people will quit if they fail the first round.

Instant gratification is what they need. This is why CoD is so popular.

Yeah I think you hit the nail on the head.

There is no way quitting was this bad in Halo 3.

Quitting in Halo 3... rare?

What alternate universe are you from?

In BTB my average match was 8v4 or worse. I remember a match without quitters being a "holy shit" moment.
