I'm hearing such radically different reports on the general scarcity of ammo. Some people say it's more scarce than ever, others say it's abundant.

I go from having hundreds of each type of rounds to almost nothing. If I'm just doing quests, I find myself running out of ammo. When I was wandering just finding places, I ended up with huge amounts.

He will address you as the first or last name that you have chosen, but that name has to be the last name you entered in the form. So it's like this

Richard = "Mr. Richard"
Richard Hammond = nothing
Hammond Richard = "Mr. Richard"

Priest = "Mr. Priest"
Priest Spongebob = nothing
Edgar Priest = "Mr. Priest"

Thanks for this.

So can we test a few names before deciding? Or do we get one chance of choosing a name and finding out if he can say it?

I'm quite early into the game, but it really depends on the ammo type. I haven't found "ammo" just laying around much, so it mainly comes from human enemies defeated so far. E.g. I have 200+ pipe rifle rounds, but only 2 sniper rifle rounds. I don't think it will be scarce. I haven't been to a vendor yet either.

Was surprised to see Ist show up in the list of names after Mal was in there. Too bad there's no Zod.

I'm going to go with Ist actually. So obscure and cool that they would include it.

What difficulty are you playing on? Went and bought it on PSN afterall, dont want to wait untill tomorrow to pick it up.

I still want to see first hand if this game is good or not. I have huge reservations about the voiced protag and the dialogue system tho. But I Guess it has to be accepted. Mods wont come untill a long time on ps4.

Started off on Normal and bumped it up to Hard after getting settled with the games mechanics. Legendary enemies are pretty prevalent even on Hard.

Runs really well on my old 2.7 ghz i5 with a 970.

My only complaint are the long load times transitioning. Every previous Bethesda openworld game was almost instant. This one takes sometimes up to 15 seconds.

Can't dive into this until next month, sadly; Uni is kicking into overdrive. My housemate is buying it though so I'll have a go.

I pumped 200+ hours into Fallout 3. Would that I had such time now :(

Wait, is it possible to install this outside of Steam? I don't want this sitting on the same drive as all my other games, considering mods alone will probably take up all the space.

I'm bummed out about the forced persona you have through the main VA...part of the fun of the games was the blank slate aspect. This lack of dialogue options in service of a few acted emotions seems awful.

Is there any indication that there was a really good reason for there to be a voiced persona as your character this time? Or does it really boil down to being more accessible?

Richard Hammond = nothing
Priest Spongebob = nothing

The fact that these name combinations are committed is quite odd. That's very strange, especially considering surnames are likely the last input, and they aren't common (and unlikely to be recorded). No major bother though, it's nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Damn, ran into my first little glitch. My character became stuck and unable to move, and the camera seems to have "detached" from the character. In first person, I can see through my own body, and with the weapon drawn, the gun doesn't move with the camera. I'll have to reload, it seems.

I had a question about the whole VPN unlocking thing. I live on a college campus and all the computers have to install this security network that prevents activities such as torrenting. Would I be able to use a VPN while synced up to this network?

More cinematic gameplay obviously.. Mass Effect style.. ugh :(((

The blank slate aspect was very important to me as well. I think Ill go with the female va at least and just try to roleplay as her and see what her va is like.

One of the best looking OT's in a while.... However... this may be due to the fact that I am slightly (more like greatly) bias towards Fallout...

re: character customization -

Can you customize your character's body type or just face? If so, what types of body-related sliders does it have?

Anyone else get bad FPS dips on PC? I have above recommended specs and I've got everything ultra, for most part it is 60 FPS but certain areas make me dip from 60 to 30, and if I move a few meters away or turn the other way it shoots back up. :S Still need to install the latest nvidia game ready driver for FO4 though.

Edit: Putting god rays to high instead of ultra completely solves this issue for me. Everything else is still ultra now though.

I wonder how viable hand to hand combat is, without too much strength. I mean you only 2 need points to unlock the hand to hand perks. I am aiming for that, but I don't really want to put too much points in there.

I pre-loaded the game yesterday and when I looked today it was no longer pre-loaded but the space was still taken up on my computer. Anyone know what I should do?

This is possibly the streamlining/downgrade that may make me dislike the game. Unless they do something meaningful with the "main character" you're playing.

It's hard to have a blank slate with the main story premise -- I haven't played it, so I can't speak to the use of a voiced player character personally. But the player character already is something of a character, even if it's simply a family man or woman out of time. For the record I really, really like Shepard as a character in ME, a lot of that is due to Jen Hale's wonderful work, but I like having a reasonably defined character that you can veer in certain directions (Telltale protagonists, Max Caufield, Geralt) than a pure blank slate -- I feel it makes for more compelling storytelling in almost every instance.

Also -- to those out there who have played the game. How much main story content is worth pursuing before feeling good enough to head out and do your own thing. I know you can probably do your own thing as soon as you exit the vault, but i'd like something of a recommendation of where the tutorialisation stops and the game narratively opens up to you.

Thanks man. I'll try and find a way to make my name work. If not I assume he just calls you 'mum' or 'dad'

That seems odd that it wouldn't call you a full name at some point if both the first and last were recognized. You can name your character Han Solo but they would never call you han, Right?

What is the best setup for lag-free streaming & audio? I have a few friends and family members who don't have the time these days to dedicate to Fallout 4, so I wanted to stream one of my playthroughs with them and let them jump in and out as their schedule allows.

We've tried Twitch, but the lag is a bit too much (15-30 sec makes a big difference to us). Audio is fairly easy to resolve using Skype or Mumble. But any suggestions for video? OBS? Skype? Other?

Ugh. I avoided the hype for this game for the past several months, but now that it's so close I can barely contain myself. Of course this week at work is going to be complete madness so I won't have a chance to play until Friday at the absolute earliest. So jealous of everyone playing.

Well, this game is certainly off to a great start.

I'm unable to move after exiting a terminal, causing me to reload my previous save.
