Bethesda retconned power armor having an unlimited power source. Some fans are upset because of the change; Bethesda took the opportunity to redesign how you use power armor in gameplay.
Players are meant to use the armor strategically for combat situations, then leave the armor for extended periods. Spoiler for anyone who hasn't watched the intro video:
The male player character was in the army and has experience with power armor. In 3 and New Vegas, players had to learn to use power armor -- primarily from the Brotherhood of Steel, but there were one or two workarounds.
You might have to leave and come back. It wouldn't let me make chairs for a minute, so I left and did a mission, and when I returned, I could make stuff again.

I've heard people bring up the Fallout Bible or w/e and complain how this or that isn't canon, or how that's wrong, and I can't help but chuckle. "You mean the chest of emeralds?" I mean, it's silly to want to follow the 'bible' to a T.

Holy shit, started 11 hours ago. This is definitely a bethesda game. This game is exactly what I thought it would be, I'm not blown away, and I'm not disappointed. Another Fallout. Call me crazy but I think the graphics are quite good for a game of this scale, running at 1080p ultra settings at a solid 60fps. This modding system is crazy, there are a billion variants of every piece of armor and guns in this game! and the world is so densely packed, you barely find those typical patches of nothingness like FO3 or Skyrim.
if you try to leave the neighbourhood or walk past the army vehicles the nuke immediately detonates.

But the Witcher 3 had a good story so it didn't matter. The story in this basically just amounts to "go find someone and experience more adventures along the way".

So I'm doing the quest where you clear out the raiders in Corvega Assembly Plant and I'm pretty awful at it. This building is a maze.

It's a RPG game and since I get no sleep in the real world, my char isn't allowed to sleep either.
Boost, as in give a bonus to the stat. For example, if your PER is 4 and you're wearing glasses that have PER 1, your perception will be 4 + 1. You can still only get perks up to rank 4, but for all intents and purposes, your actual perception STAT is 5. You see enemies a bit further away etc.
You lose the bonus when you unequip the item.

Yea, I'm having trouble getting into the groove. That mission seemed way beyond me, the route to Diamond City was a fucking death trap. I'm not sure what I should be doing...
I'll have to try tomorrow when I can play longer.

As soon as I started the game up and got to the character creation, it crashed. So far haven't had any problems with it other than that and some frame rate drops.

How much do I need to worry about settlement stats? I have no water in my first one, but also don't have the mats to make a water pump.
I would be very hard to compare them outside of the setting and some themes

Decided to re-roll my char. Needs a better face.
Anyone else getting crazy amounts of mouse input lag? It feels pretty gross. I've tried disabling vsync in the ini and using Nvidia's, but it doesn't really make a difference.
Also, the Steam Controller feels pretty bad in this game using the "mouse-like joystick" mode unfortunately. I've been using it for other fps games that don't let you use gamepad and mouse at the same time and it's worked pretty well.

The gunplay in this game is way better than I expected it would be. This game actually plays like a very competent shooter 90% of the time. I'm playing on Survival difficulty and shit's hard. I find myself constantly having to re-evaluate my strategies, because even a single softshell Mirelurk can take me out, and some mobs are just too damn much for my fragile self.
Luckily, I've got FUCKING POWER ARMOR.

Fallout 4 is a better FPS than W2
W2 is a better turn-based RPG than Fallout 4
I can't come up with two RPGs that are so vastly different from each other than FO4 and Wasteland 2 lol. I know Fallout practically started because of Wasteland 1, but the games are absolutely not comparable in any way or form.

Yep, the m+kb UI coooould be a bit better, to say the least.
I'm torn. Lining up headshots is so much easier with a mouse, but I'm not sure if it's worth tolerating the shit UI. Aside from intense firefights, a controller should work as well for me.
