For those that bought a physical copy of the PC version in the store....

Is the game on the actual disc?

I am right at my bandwidth cap for the month and would also like to avoid waiting to download it as well tonight. So hoping to just pop it into my PC and play...

Thanks!
Hearing the disc only has 8gb, you need to download the remains 15 or so

Kinda early game spoiler... Question
a few meters away from the vault, you can find a dump for electronic parts (forgot the actual name) you can activate the guard robot from inside the house. I did that, the robot was activated and started talking but didn't attack me. I just shot countless times at him until he died and I could loot some stuff.... Is that a bug? Seems like it is supposed to be a tough enemy

Base building is so satisfying.

But so is combat, and modding guns, and everything else about this game.

Really impressed by it so far!

before release : "base building looks neat but probably not for me"

post release : "i've just been scrapping and building shit for an hour"

Haha, way too true.

I spent 3 hours last night just clearing out all the trash and tidy up the homestead.

Wish I could keep my apartment that clean in real life.

Does anyone know if there's a way to use my junk I stored in another workshop in other workshops? like universally?

also does anyone know if there's a way to find out where a certain companion is right now? I lost dogmeat somehow.

For the power suit (very early game)
when you run out of battery out in the world and abandon it, does it make it back to your base?

I don't like followers. Where's the follower menu from F3? Can I send the dog back to Sanctuary so that he stays there? He keeps following me :(

Same question. And speaking of base, do you make your own, or is it basically a settlement that you improved?

EDIT: Getting a kick out of certain npcs saying my name, but I wish it was for all npcs. One day...

is the game multi five?

I mean, i got a german version of the game, but i'm in italy, if i put it in a ps4 with italian as defualt setting, will i get italian text?

edit: yes it is

Downloaded the ps4 version digitally on Sunday. Wont be home to turn on my ps4 for a few more hours. Will I be greeted by having to download a patch before playing?!

I kind of like the new dialogue system. It flows pretty well for a Bethesda game. I don't think it's necessarily better or worse than the old system, just different.

Edit: my only real complaint for the game so far, is that there isn't a loot all option for certain things, and yet there is for others. Unless I'm missing something.

So, uhhh, just got this update on my Amazon order:

Package has been transferred to the USPS and will be delivered by your local postal office
Smiths Station, AL, US

I don't live there. I don't even live in Alabama, I live in Georgia. The progress bar says "to be delivered by 8pm" to my correct address, though.

Edit: Disregard this post. Appears to be a glitch on Amazon's part.

Fun fact:

I don't think so, but you should be able to use the transfer action to open an item transfer window and just loot the power suit parts

Right, not to sound whiney, but 2 complaints, so far, 4 hours into the game, doing the
Minuteman
Quests

i've ran into 2 sets of
Ghouls
and jeez are they obnoxious, Every time i run into them, there's 8-10, they sponge bullets from what guns i have so far, and they move so fast,

anyone got ideas how to kill them easier? better guns?

kinda lukewarm on the game atm. i think its mainly that the tone is pretty straightforward and self serious so far and it doesnt seem to have a lot the of quirky and humorous stuff that i associate with the franchise. it is super early so maybe i'm totally wrong ...its just that by this time in new vegas you had already met a cult of ghouls (with one confused human member) and helped them essentially commit mass suicide in a really charming way. i guess its cool that bethesda is trying to do more with the core narrative but the intro(and i guess the inclusion of a voiced pc) doesnt leave a lot the imagination as far as character origins go and its hard to imagine my pc (who was apparently just a normal ass dude living a peachy life with his lovely wife and son) murdering the innocent inhabitants of the wasteland with no remorse. tough to roleplay an insane dick when you are already characterized as a stable, reasonable person.

gameplay wise it seems like a pretty marginal step forward for the whole bethesda open world thing. maybe the weapon mods etc will add something interesting to that formula.

I just wanted to say that the Ghouls didn't commit suicide in New Vegas. After you finish the game the slides will say that they come back to help people in Novac.

Anyone out there have an X1 copy yet? How do you find the performance on the X1? Is that 0fps stuttering thing real? Id love to hear some actual GAF user impressions of the X1 as DF is the only site that mentions the X1 issues with 0 fps.

How's the performance overall on X1?

I want to be sure what version to pick up between the consoles. Initially wanted XB1 to spread the gaming love as I usually get multiplats on PS4, but then the DF article made me think PS4, however after a bunch of other videos and impressions Im just not so sure. I am still hearing that PS4 has issues with FPS indoors and when in fire fights that the X1 doesn't struggle with.

After playing for six hours straight I told myself I would go back home and drop all my excess stuff off at the Sanctuary.

But then I discovered base building and another two hours quickly went by...

VATS if you're not using it and/or firing at their legs to slow them down might work.

Can you unlock more objects for the workshop/base building? Sturges mentioned sandbags but I can't find them anywhere.

Also, only certain areas are salvageable, right? Been trying to pick up concrete blocks in the wilderness lol

Shotgun and semi auto pipe rifle are good against them.

My pipboy edition was just delivered and I eagerly unpacked it. I am a bit shocked to find there is only one disc there which must me there will still be one hell of a download before I can play this. I think it was a bit cheap of Bethesda to not go with 2 discs. Oh well such is life.

I have to agree that the dialogue system really creates a nice flow. But I don't like it because the conversations are way to short and you don't get much informations from people. I preferr the old one. I think with this dialogue system there won't be such a great lore like in the old games.

anyone else playing in 3rd person? I played through FO3/NV in first person but don't really want to do it with this. The only thing that bothers me is that it can be quite hard to select things and aim.

I'm not far enough into the game to provide a full answer to this, but performance seems OK to me so far on Xbox One. I mean, I've already spotted a couple of frame dips (that are over very quickly), but in general it runs reasonably well. I've not seen anything even remotely game breaking, or any slideshow frame drops. Certainly not enough to suggest picking up this version of the game was a horrible mistake.

To be honest, unless you're buying on PC, I think you can pick up any version of the game in (relative) confidence, with the caveat that things are going to be a bit wonky in places regardless.

I messed around with it for a bit. Seems better than previous games, but I don't think they're quite there yet. I'll try it some more later though.

Idk how you could possible aim in 3rd person, especially when fighting fast enemies like bugs. I think 3rd person may work if you were focusing on melee? I can't see it being useful if you plan to play it like a shooter

He kept calling me mum so I thought he couldn't say my name but he did end up saying it.

I mean, it's not surprising that they have him use your name sparingly. Think how much additional voicework is needed every time he says your name instead of mum or sir. It's awesome that they have him do it at all though :P

How is console performance for everyone? I would go to the digital foundry thread but it's literally filled with ppl who aren't even playing it, or plan to play it on PC.

Edit: Seems like someone else asked on this page.
