Amazon UK still haven't shipped my order despite it being the release date and despite me being in Ireland. So right now if I'm lucky I'll probably get it Monday, when I'm back in work after my week off. Thanks Amazon.

Cancel it and pick it up somewhere else.

Sitting waiting for my Amazon order atm. Wish I'd just left it - could have been round to Tesco and back within twenty minutes.

Quoting myself, I guess it was overread D:

Uh .. is it possible to remove every house in Sanctuary? I like this building feature very much and well .. I wasn't able to remove some of the houses. :/ Or does their look change when more people come to the village? :/ Because .. well .. after removing all those things, the destroyed houses are the last ugly things there .. :D

kinda lukewarm on the game atm. i think its mainly that the tone is pretty straightforward and self serious so far and it doesnt seem to have a lot the of quirky and humorous stuff that i associate with the franchise. it is super early so maybe i'm totally wrong ...its just that by this time in new vegas you had already met a cult of ghouls (with one confused human member) and helped them essentially commit mass suicide in a really charming way. i guess its cool that bethesda is trying to do more with the core narrative but the intro(and i guess the inclusion of a voiced pc) doesnt leave a lot the imagination as far as character origins go and its hard to imagine my pc (who was apparently just a normal ass dude living a peachy life with his lovely wife and son) murdering the innocent inhabitants of the wasteland with no remorse. tough to roleplay an insane dick when you are already characterized as a stable, reasonable person.

gameplay wise it seems like a pretty marginal step forward for the whole bethesda open world thing. maybe the weapon mods etc will add something interesting to that formula.

How do I know if its a settlement? Will it work in places I haven't built up anything in yet?

Inventory is not linked between settlements. You open up a perk that is supposed to allow this, but I haven't been able to figure out how that works. Now, the different benches within a particular settlement (say, armor and chemical) are linked. But a armor stand in the starting town and the armor stand down the road at the nearby location do not have linked inventory.

A settlement is anywhere where you can hold down the back button (PC and XBone, not sure what button for PS4) to open up the building menu.

Getting to grips with the base building stuff, reckon you'll be able to make some awesome looking settlements!

For those that bought a physical copy of the PC version in the store....

Is the game on the actual disc?

I am right at my bandwidth cap for the month and would also like to avoid waiting to download it as well tonight. So hoping to just pop it into my PC and play...

Thanks!

I gotta say, it REALLY sucks when you find out early on that a character is going to be relevant to the story simply because they won't die when you try and punch 'em to death :(

I found out that
Black cowboy guy
and
generic premonitions old woman
are going to be important somehow. Bleh.

Otherwise, my fists-only run is going pretty well so far

Does anyone get a weird kind of discomfort just running around doing quests you find? It's almost like a guilt that I'm neglecting the main story or that I'm doing something I'm not supposed to be doing yet (basically did one or two quests and then just started exploring).

I don't have the retail version but Bethesda said that you have to download at least some portion of the game.

And the retail version comes with a single DVD while the game is ~25GB big so it's unfortunately certainly not a small download.

Are you talking about Fallout? ;-)

Shame that they made the main character a war hero, a hoarder would have been much more appropriate, it would put all these walk and talk conversations where I drift off into random burnt out cars and buildings while someone is talking to me and pick up that duct tape and hot plate (I NEED THEM) make much more narrative sense.
I don't know, I don't think it really matters what your character was before the game started

you watch your wife get murdered that is narrative reason enough for a person to snap or change

The games all exist in the same time period. Or at least, the world before the bombs fell is.

It makes sense that there would be continuation, right? And from the players point of view, Fallout 3 is 7 years old. Have you been playing it recently enough that hearing those songs again is now a problem?
That's the way I see it, I have not heard butcher Pete in forever

Hope it has big iron again

Is there a playlist anywhere?

Yea, that was the most emotional moment for me in the first 2 hours of playing. Didn't even get to The Red Truck stop location.

It changed my tone of playing for sure, did not see that coming.

I hate to ask this but for those playing the PS4 now for a bit what are your thoughts on performance?

Smooth after 4 hours of playing.

Anyone else not feeling this game?

I've been excited for another Fallout for a long while now, I install it and play it for 4-5 hours but it's not really clicking with me. I am overwhelmed with everything and playing it feels like a chore than actually being fun.

It's been like that for a while now even with other games and it sucks.

before release : "base building looks neat but probably not for me"

post release : "i've just been scrapping and building shit for an hour"

I ain't balls deep into it yet. After about an hour, it appears I'm out of the tutorial phase.

Loving it though. Graphics are dated in comparison to a lot of games, but I still really like what I see.
