Coming of a session and my initial impressions are that I hate the new dialogue system.

Its so immensely dumbed down to simply get voiced dialogue.

Tedward has been waiting for this his whole life.

Have a small issue with the backstory forced on the female character. Early game spoilers, like as in the first 30mins.
I don't like the fact a law degree was forced on me. I started with 7 intelligence so It isn't a huge deal, but It'd be very annoying if I'd gone for a low intelligence build
.
Once again Obsidian stays winning by having an extremely minimal backstory with NV, he'll even Bioware did back stories better with ME

I'm debating whether I should pick this up around Christmas for PS4 now or wait until I build a better PC. I do have New Vegas in my Steam Library and I've only played an hour our so. I wonder if should install a bunch of mods to make it look better and save FO4 for later.

Do it! New Vegas is genuinely amazing. My favourite RPG.

Likeness = the number of characters in the right space that matches the password.

Say you pick HALO.
And the real password is FAME.
It would have a likeness of 1 because the A is in the same spot as the password, but none of the other characters match.
Thanks, this makes a lot of sense, the in game explanation wasn't that helpful.

So far loving the game but fuck it's hard, have almost died 3 times

How strong are most of the companions?

I have only used Codsworth so far, and I feel like he has been seriously caring me through fights so far, dude is a murder machine.

Are the other companions as powerful as he is? Or I'm I just super fucking weak right now?

Playing on Hard if it matters.

So, is there a way to have 2 companions now or nah? Feels a bit like a waste if I'm using level ups to get the dog stuff in the charisma tree if I cant ever have him along if I want a human, too..

Question for people playing on the PS4 or a modest PC

on the PS4 how has the game been performing?
on the PC could I get away with:

AMD Phenom II 955 3.2ghz
Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 7950
8gigs Memory

I'm around 15 hours into F4, and while it's great I enjoyed NV a whole lot more at this point. It may be one of my favorite games of last generation, definitely get on that.

I saw one of my settlement dudes on top of a roof. Can I get up there too and put a turret there?

You don't really need to turn Sanctuary into a fortress. Enemies won't cross the river so they will always go for that dinky bridge near Red Rocket. Focus you defense there.

Oh yessss. I'm covered with the two turrets I got I guess. Unless anything worse than rabid dogs come in lol.

What the shit. :lol

I usually hate fast traveling, but I'd had a few pieces of power armor stuck in my inventory so I travel to the Red Rocket garage to work on it. Busy customizing my gear when all of a sudden I hear gunfire. I back out and right as I get control of my character I hear a distinct and familiar beeping...

It's a goddamn super mutant suicider. Before I can do so much as leave, the thing blows up in a haze of nuclear energy, taking me and the entire garage with it.

Great, I was at work and the mailman with Fallout 4 came by my place literally minutes after my girlfriend left. Oh well, I can wait one more day.

About 7 hours in and level 9 playing on hard and getting my ass kicked routinely. Everywhere i go there's another legendary or supermutant or mirelurk or group of ghouls waiting to kick my ass. My ammo is extremely limited, only my weakest guns have ammo right now. Also very few explosives which can help a lot in a pinch, but I am almost always low or out.

I'm just scraping by. I'm not ready to lower the difficulty because I like that the world feels dangerous.. But progress can be slow.

The scrounger perk can probably really help your ammo problem out.

I'd say play New Vegas now, if you don't have the DLC you can get it for cheap and you'll be able to jump in to 4 when it's cheaper and patched up plus has some decent mods. Also while New Vegas will probably be better from a writing and quests standpoint, I'm sure some of 4's gameplay improvements will make it hard to go back.

I'm only a few hours in but already kind of regretting some of my perk choices... gunslinger, lead belly... idk man.

I was enjoying using pistols until some mirelurks kicked my shit in. And I just bought Lead Belly cuz I'm not swimming in stimpaks and food be radiated.

Always....ALWAYS keep a shotgun on you. Always handy for crustaceans.

Not had any issues with any of the terminals. What are you playing it on? Does Tab not kick you back out of them?

tab kicks me out into what seems like a clipping issue. I cant move my character but I can spin around with my arms attached to the terminal

I changed my FOV to 90. could that be the reason?!

A mole rat with a bomb strapped to it almost blew me to kingdom come. Somehow I shot it a few feet away from me and the explosion didn't harm me. I predict I will suffer many deaths to this shit in the future because those things are small and sneaky as hell.

Possibly, I haven't messed with any FOV settings and I've used a doxen or so terminals without any issues in various places now.

So I've been scraping junk as a mad man at my settlement, but whenever I try to craft on the weapon bench, I have almost no materials. Why!?

Nice. Make sure to close the garage door next time.

Is it wrong that I am having so much fun scrapping everything in Sanctuary? Normally I don't really care all that much about actual "world building" in games, but for whatever reason I actually want to help rebuild. But first I get to vandalize an entire town.
BTW, don't mind the name. It has nothing to do with Fallout or Diablo either.

How do you craft settlement stuff? It wont let me even though I have the materials.
Edit -
Not worth starting up. You would only have 15 to 20 minutes. Savor the long play later.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. *sigh*
I'll let it install and I'll watch an episode of Adventure Time or something.
Oh wait. Oh my god what are these cartoons? I love this! Not even salty anymore.

Personally I am in love with the fact that on higher difficulties I'm not some sort of unstoppable upper-god stimpak swilling Jack Of All Batmen like in Fallout 3. This game is real hard on Survival mode but its forced me to get creative and to improvise and improve, and that's cool.
