Yeah it's super addictive.

Help, where can I find copper?

I tried to think of everyday objects I could go scouting for that contain copper.

...copper wire. nothing contains cooper! Even pennies are 96% zinc now!

When scrapping within the workshop, is the only way to get an items base materials by dropping everything collected from the wasteland onto the ground and then scrapping it?

I've tried just moving junk from my inventory to the workshop inventory and the items aren't breaking down to their base components.

"Ah, I'm finally feeling good about my progession. Got decent armour, decent weaponry, I'm good enough to take down a raider army. I can finally move forward confide..."

"SWAAAAAAN!!!"

My wife is asking me about building stuff but I'm unsure of a complete understanding, is the building station for the sancturary supposed to be at that garage across the bridge that I've been using? And do I have to walk all the way across the bridge and place beds and crap for everything I build in the sanctuary one by one? That sounds insane.

Can human companions switch weapons?

No, there's a workstation in Sanctuary. You won't even need it, you can just hold down a button to go into build mode.

So are the feral ghouls supposed to sling-shot-teleport themselves towards you? Is that working as intended? Seems like that happens every encounter. Sometimes I think they just spawn where right behind me is.

If you're in a location you can build at, you can hold "V" (not sure of the console equivalent) to instantly bring up the build menu no matter where you are in the settlement).

They are being scrapped in the process of using materials. As soon as the scrap is in the workshop you are good. There is NO NEED to scrap junk seperately

Also, I think there might be some kind of trigger related to killing the "boss" of a location as I've had locations show up as cleared even when there were still baddies running around.

If it's anything like in Skyrim, this is it. You could clear stuff by just killing the boss creature.

Pipe guns.
Oh fucking hell. You're a saint.

...come to think of it I bet I've loaded dogmeat up with a bunch of them

They will break down to their base components as needed while crafting. Say you've stored a desk fan. When you need something with screws, as you go to craft it it will auto-scrap the fan to get them. There's even a "store all junk" button.

For weapons and armor I guess you do need to drop n' scrap them.

no, there's a shortcut (hold V on PC, back on 360 I think) to access the build menu so long as you're in a buildable area

Ive abandand the garage and made Sanctuary my home base.

They're needs to be a way to see find all the settlers/companions on the map or be being marked. Also needs to be a way to know if a settler is already signed to a task.

Also, damn do I hate dogmeat. I appreciate that he can hold enemies, but he gets in my way of moving more often than not. In the battle of the virtual dogs this year, I much prefer DD over dogmeat.

Those are two separate settlements despite being right next to each other. There is a building station in Sanctuary at the house across from your old one. Same building with the PA armor station, weapon and armor tables where Preston Garvey and co hang out.

And yes you can switch companion gear, put something in their inventory and select Y or Triangle or I'm guessing Space Bar on PC to have them wear it or use it.

So even if it says, for instance, "Abraxo Cleaner" in the workshop inventory, the game will recognize its components as usable for crafting?

Not me, Sanctuary isn't getting nearly the attention it deserves because I'm so focused on my rocket observation deck.

Shooting ghouls trough the legs and then finishing them off with a headshot is so satisfying.

I love when I see a hoard of them running at me, a just toss a moltov at the group and laugh as they all burn.

Also, does anyone know exactly how much your carry capacity is increased by adding deep pockets to an armor piece? I just noticed I have enough materials to craft that mod but don't want to waste them right now if it's only a minor increase.

Yeah, so companions will always have a default weapon with unlimited ammo but you can equip them with apparel and weapons manual if you'd like, sometimes they'll switch themselves if they run out of ammo and/or another weapon is better. Trade with your companion and give them a weapon and ammo (remember that any weapon you give a companion requires it's proper ammo) hover the weapon/apparel you want them to equip and look down at the toolbar and notice the equip button, I don't remember what the button is for PC but on controllers its Y and Triangle.

Guys Fallout 4 has an 87 on metacritic its a shit game!

/S just making fun of the Halo 5 review thread

I have only played a little bit of fallout 4 but so far i am loving it :D (just got out of the vault, so there is really not much to give me a full opinion)

I know that the regular pocketed ones give you +5 each so I'm assuming +10? I recommend them if you really don't want to get over encumbered haha, very useful!

The more i play the more I realize the 2 most important Perks IMO are the advanced lockpicks one and Local Leader just to to have access to all your workshops from any settlement.

I don't have Local Leader yet but as soon as I find the CHA bobblehead, it's mine.

yeah, that's not bad then. Super useful since I only put a few points in strength and don't have enough yet for the Strong Back perk or whatever it is.

Had a fatman and some knockoff power armour I got from an enemy, was already full weight so decided to put them into a random shelf, went back later and gone :(

thought it was too early to get those items...

so far loving the game, combat is so much better than before, massive difference.
wish the wild had more varied random beasts and wildlife, sometimes it feels empty.

Prefer the setting of the mojave desert more though.

Try getting on the Vertibird? You should be able to once you get to the Prydwen

long past that. thats what I thought to. like "ok now hes on the plane, cant talk to him now" then became "ok maybe I need to do these BoS quests" but ive done all that and nope, hes still just a companion and when I talk to him or dismiss him he just says companion things, nothing about the quest I have to talk to him about (even tho he walks around with the marker on his head). Its busted dude

I have no such quest yet, although I do have that location from doing other shit

Yes. Workshop counts the materials in it and scraps it automatically if needed. =)
It is not explained anywhere in the game but this questions pops out every few pages haha

in theory I'd love there to be more wildlife, but as soon as I see a bloatfly, a mongrel or a radroach I feel like it's a chore to kill these pathetic but annoying bastards.

maybe just more passive wildlife with interacting with other wildlife and only occasionally getting in your way would solve the problem

How is Sanctuary as a base of operations?

Haven't tinkered too much with crafting buildings, but is it possible to build containers to safe-guard my important loot?

Also, are Quantum and Cherry Colas needed for a quest?

So my idea for a melee build right no is

9 Strength
1 Perception
5 Endurance
1 Charisma
1 Intelligence
6 Agility
5 Luck

5 luck to get Idiot Savant first. What perks should I get next and are the attributes okay this way or am I missing out on something big?
