aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
theres a
lv50 nemesis wannabe chasing me

also, someone here said that the silver shroud armor has great stats , it does not

Had a great few hours last night.

Came across the
Brotherhood of Steel
at the
Cambridge Police Station
on the way to
Diamond City
.

Man that was intense at times. I fucking hate (love)
Feral Ghouls
. Far more intimidating than in previous games. I wandered down to
Lexington
quite early, and just noped out of there. Since then, I worry about my life and my ammo count.

Followed
Paladin Danse
, had my first encounter with some Super Mutants, and dos the quest at the
Arcjet Facility
. Man, that was a game changer. I was expecting
Synths
to be like
Harkness, but demented
. NOPE! They're like post Judgement Day
Terminators
.

Loving the combat. Loving the customization.

I've been neglecting the pipe weapons since the start, but soon realized I had over 700 .38 rounds. I came across a sweet semi-auto rifle that packs a punch, so gave it a tweak at the workbench and now I think I have most ammo types sorted.

Does anyone know what weapons use
.50
?

I set my carry weight to max with the console last night, was trying to play pure but to be honest it felt like I was literally leaving parts of the game behind just to avoid going back to town every 15 minutes.

Never really had a problem with it in Skyrim/Oblivion/Fallout 3 but the additional layer of needing all the junk for crafting & settlements made it unbearable.

Aaaand this, forgot to mention this in my post :p

My theory is it was an oversight related to the settlement system. Having the player need to pickup junk if they want to build and maintain settlements meant they needed to tinker with weight limits, but they didn't. I did what you did during the first quest after gaining my first settlement.

You can mod weapons to use 50 cal. Like hunting rifles.

I don't know if there's a weapon that natively uses .50.

More stories from McGrizzle coming soon.

This enemy's left hand is pretty fucked up:

Well I realized slowly how much fun the powered armors are to use (and how much flavor to the game they add).

So since I was already a fairly INT heavy character I decided to take it all the way.

I decided I would become self reliant on the power armors, so I turned my girl into a tech savy mechanic who maintains her small garage filled with power armors for all different needs.

This is incredibly awesome, because you've always got fusion core management in the back of your head, even when you've got 12 of them you can't help but think to yourself "maybe I should take it slow and conserve my cores I might need them later...". So some times I get out of my suit and when I am out of my suit I have like no defensive bonuses so I am prone to dying in like 4 shots when it's just me my jump suit, which means it's time to stop being a death machine tank and you gotta take it real slow. The game goes from being the hunter to being the hunted it's a really cool change of pace. By far the coolest thing is maintaining your suit through all the combat you're going through. Finding a near by power armor station to maintain your suit when it's falling to pieces is super fun.

One of the most tense moments happened to me during a repair pit stop. I was wandering south of diamond city after fighting through TONS of super mutants even a few suicide bombers my armor was falling to pieces, the only parts that were still intact were the torso and the left arm. So I check my map and I see a junk yard near by that I had passed before, I remembered there was a power armor station there so I go to fix her up there. i only had enough metal to finish repairing the torso and the left arm so I go to look for things to break down into metal in the junk heaps. Then I get ambushed by another super mutant raiding party, 3 of them had miniguns. I panicked and sprinted back to the repair shop for safety but they surrounded me. I was fending them off from the bathroom with my combat shot gun but I couldn't stay out long enough to score a kill. So I knew what had to be done, I poked out used VATS to target the nearest mutants head which staggered him long enough for me to slip by, another one let loose a hail of bullets that took me down to like 15% hp. But I made it to my powered armor...my 30% complete powered armor. I hopped in and with only one good arm and my torso I fended off about 5 super mutants.

It was an absolutely awesome moment.

Here I am posing with my fully repaired armor after the battle ended.

What clothing/armor is on her?

Think it's one of the jumpsuits. I wish you could put on armor pieces over them. The argument in the guide was that some of these are too bulky to do so but that's bullshit. I hope a mod comes out that lets you put on armor pieces over many of the outfits that don't let you.

Heck even if you can't see them I'd love to be able to use the outfits with invisible armor parts.

I thought you could?, I've got armour over my vault jumpsuit?

im really regretting not putting more points into Luck. I gave it two by default and after seeing all the perks ive started putting a bunch of my level up points into it. it feels like a waste though, argh. I really, really dont want to start over and do all this shit again, is there any way to switch your base values in the files or console commands? I just wanna trade off a point or two of charisma for Luck but honestly, if I have to just level up luck separate I think ill be fine. It just looks too fun

what other skills have you guys felt are invaluable?

Arent they all blue?
Looks black

Does the Quartermastery quest line ever end ? I feel like i've done 1000 quests for her already and she's always wanting another item.

Not complaining though....the XP is good and it forces you to explore new places, but I feel I want it to end.

I think they're never ending it's just a way to point out landmarks, buildings and places to go in the world that you haven't been to.

I asked yesterday and don't think someone answered, but i'm just wondering if it's possible to get some armor items that look cool outside of power armor?

Also, in regards to power armor, how exactly are people managing them? I really love how they are hugely powerful this time around, and the fact that you can just enter and leave them like a vehicle is a really cool change ( each time you stumble across a power armor out in the middle of nowhere is just an absolutely awesome moment to me ).

However the fact that they use power cores and take dmg that you then need to repair via resources, just makes them seem very bothersome to use. And what if you then leave them after a battle to preserve fusion core power, while exploring and area? You'll then have to keep in mind that you have the power armor still standing around, so before you move on, you'll have to remember to come back and reenter the power armor. It's also not like you can really explore while in a power armor since you'll just burn through fusion cores, right? Or am I missing something about them?

So what is the word on stat distribution? Especially with Int. Max int isn't much of a must have at start anymore right?

I think you'll get more levels quicker and your soft-cap will be higher than on a lower INT, but the pay off is you'll be meeting harder and better equipped enemies much sooner.

Having said that, I haven't even gotten out of the first Vault, so take that with a heap of salt.

Well I'm at 4 enough to get me Hacker I'll be going no higher than 6 personally.

Especially as I'm investing in Idiot Savant where low INT is an advantage so I'll keep my INT low for as long as possible.

Depends on what you think is cool, there are many options... but gear trickle as you gain levels :p

Fusion core are rare in the beginning, but they become less scase as time goes
The INT perk Nuclear Physicist extends the core, it helps a great deal

You can also make your companion use the armor, it will not use a core... but it will break during combat and will need repairs

I would almost recommend new players to make the companion use the armor while exploring

If your core has a tiny bit of battery left - sell it.

You'll get much more than if you sold the battery whilst it's depleted.

I think they're never ending it's just a way to point out landmarks, buildings and places to go in the world that you haven't been to.

Is there a point where I should stop bothering with them? I have only done 1 mission for each of the two Brotherhood members.

It´s amazing to see how creative some people build out the settlements and my sanctuary is everything in the middle of the road without any order.

I like all the unmarked locations, they contain a lot of things to make you think.

I found a house with a basement in the middle of nowhere, and I won't spoil it, but I spend about 30mins trying to get my head around the sequence of events that went on there.

Lots of atmosphere in these unmarked locations, I am sure there are loads more.

Alright, I think I beat the main quest, my impression? Huge let down and made zero sense to me.

In general I must say the conversation system is the most disappointing thing in this game, I don't need to tell you all the problem but the biggest thing missing is the fact that skill based conversations are gone. Now, only your Charisma level will determine whether or not you can persuade someone. It's so bafflingly dumbed down I can't understand how Bethesda thought it was a good idea. All the past games had a great dialogue system that wasn't tilted to one character build. If you're character had high Charisma they might be able to charm their way through a conversation but sometimes Charm wasn't useful sometimes you needed Intelligence to convince someone of something or perhaps Strength to intimidate them. Additionally, if you were clever enough and paid attention you could perhaps discover or do something that would unlock additional dialogue options independent of any skills you had. In short, the past system was beautiful.

The current system is now:
A: Alright, I'll do what you said right away.
X: Sarcastic. (and then the NPC will get annoyed at which point you press A)
Y: Flux Capacitor? (General question of the thing the NPC wants, they tell you to not worry about it and then you press A)
B: Not right now/I have to think about it (NPC stops conversation and waits for you to re-initiate and press fucking A).

Basic Power Armor parts are cheap to repair and a depleted Fusion Core doesn't mean your Power Armor can't move. And you can explore the world in Power Armor if you limit yourself to walking. Walking doesn't take energy, so the Fusion Core isn't spent.

Personally, I'll alternate between Power Armor runs and naked runs. In Power Armor runs I'll hit spots I've scouted that are too difficult for me to tackle head on and in Naked runs I'll explore the world, looking for parts and extra Fusion Cores in easier areas, maybe go on some quests.

I do have to agree with this.

In an ideal world, Obsidian will expand on this like they did on 3. Obsidian could do a great job with a Fallout game based on founding and protecting a new settlement with real moral grey areas and some interesting characters living in your settlements, weaving tangled webs.

Fallout meets Dead State!

Back to the ruins of LA this time please, Obsidian!
