The USS Constitution was a great quest.

I really like how it let me bypass a lot of the repairs with INT, and of course I sided with the robot captian wearing a damn pirate hat.

I've been mostly entering random buildings/areas and have encountered so many cool things like this already.

I know its been asked probably at least half a billion times, but are the performance problems frequent or ps4? I'm strongly considering purchasing this.

Normally don't worry about trophies but I wanted the FO4 platinum to go with my Fo3, but apparently faction trophies are missable

Randomly stumbled upon one faction, so apparently I nearly screwed myself without realizing. I feel like my enjoyment is lessened by this. I don't wanna have to obsess over which missions I do, when to save, blah. blah to get 'em all without two playthroughs.

Just follow this guide and you'll be fine. It's not bad.

Damn

Anyway, I finally made a sniper rifle using the best parts available and I gotta say, I'm pretty underwhelmed.

To one hit kill I'm pretty sure I'll need max rifleman and ninja

Have you tried shooting manually and getting skilled in real-time combat?

I've found that certain weapons are more effective for me from learning how to use them manually in certain situations rather than relying solely on V.A.T.S.

That's not based on anything but my own speculation.

Fuck it, second time I've run into a seemingly unfixable crash 10 seconds into startup bug. Anyone know of a fix, I knew I should have known better after Skyrim crashing bullshit at launch.

I'm 40 hours in to the game and I still don't know how I feel about it.

Things I love:
+ The changes to VATS
+ Not using VATS is now way easier
+ The weapon crafting seems pretty solid
+ The thrill of exploration and the sense of scale is still there

Things I hate:
- In the past I've just shrugged my shoulders at the bugginess of Bethesda games but I think I've reached my limit. I shouldn't have to be constantly in fear that I'm going to encounter a bug that is going to have to force me to revert to a previous save or figure out a clever solution to deal with it
- Everything to do with building and maintaining settlements. I tried to give this a shot and it's so poorly designed that I can't be bothered. I wish this more than anything wasn't in the game
- All of the companions other than Valentine seem dull and uninteresting
- The gathering of materials and storing of them seems poorly done. I feel like they could have designed this more intuitively
- I wish quests that repeated would be marked as such. All they need is a little icon or something next to them

I think overall I still like the game but the issues I have with it are just so disappointing.

So, real talk: is there a point to picking up the Jangles the Moon Monkey dolls? I keep seeing them scattered around in relatively hidden places, and I keep grabbing them. Someone...please tell me if there is a point to it, or if I can just stop and scrap them all. Haha

Always find the best Legendaries on the weakest creatures. Got this VATS Enhanced Laser Musket from a Legendary Bloatfly today and a Chameleon Right Leather Arm from a Legendary Mongrel right outside
Diamond City
yesterday. That Laser Musket is going to go well with this VATS Enhanced Metal Chest Piece I already have

Wow, so it turns out you can charm the pants off
Magnolia
. I don't know how Piper feels about it but I got the Lover's Embrace perk to pop up lmao. Damn, I'm smoove.

So is it impossible to be stealthy and sneak around with a companion? It is so far with dogmeat. Any better with a human? What are the benefits of human vs dog companion. I think I used to go solo in FO3 cause they would always steal my kills/xp.

You put an optional thing into your dislike list? Why? Just ignore it if you don't like it. Some people do, but you actively wish it wasn't in the game. I don't understand that kind of thinking. I also don't get what's so bothersome about "gathering of materials and storing them" is poorly done. It's actually really fast. Go to ANY of the station and hit the key to "store all junk". Done. Infinite space and no need to micromanagement anything and it will be scrapped automatically.

You are free to don't like things, but I found you mentioning those two pretty weird. As for bugs, I have encountered maybe 2 in 60h+ gametime so far.

It's optional but it shouldn't be in the game because you don't like it?

edit: Zukuu read my mind.

It seems that the Protectrons have unpredictable behaviour. In the Corvega Assembly Plan i used the terminal to free one of the Protectrons and i choose Fireworker. He killed most of the raiders there and then out of the blue decided to fire at me as well, he said i was carrying a fire risk item or something, but i had nothing equipped. I got killed. So i reload the savegame and i am busy destroying the turrets from the enemy, the Protectron doesn;t like this and starts shooting at me again.

Outside in the middle of nowhere i see this Protectron opening fire on me right away and i didn't do anything. Is this new or were they like this in previous games too? I forgot.

Mama Murphy
died, how long until they fucking go back to be ''happy''?

- is there any major missable quest?

- IS IT ME or radiation = permanent loss of HP until you remove it? I can't heal to full HP because of that, it seems. pretty fucking dumb to be honest.

So far I really dig the settlement stuff, but I do agree that while storing junk is easy, gathering it could be better. Mainly, I wish there was a way to manage which materials you've flagged so that you didn't always have to go back to a workshop and find an object that has a) materials you no longer need to collect but have already flagged, or b) materials you need and haven't been flagged yet. My kingdom for an easy menu where you can just tick/untick materials directly.

I have no answers for you but this is an amazing story.

Playing fo3

Newbie qustion

Should i use fast travel or avoid it, which is more fun in the end. I have to wonder if avoiding it simply takes too much time, im only a couple hours in

My own opinion? I hate using fast travel in these games. To me it's much more immersive to travel around. But I like treating the game like a simulation and the travel part is fun to me. The game would be a lot more hollow to me if I used it.

Depends on what you want out of the game really. Do you want a more game like experience where you "win" and just want to get to the meat of gameplay? Probably use it. Do you like to really get into your role and play your character and pretend you are in that world? Don't use it.

Thats how radiation works now. Radiation used to really be pointless and barely affected you in the last two fallouts, here it has a longer effect. Though it's not that hard to cure up anyways

When do you got an area and after clearing it out and it doesn't say: [Completed], does that mean a quest goes through there eventually?

Ones that you don't start up yourself are just regular enemies that will attack you without provocation.

I'm also having issues determining what sets off protectrons. 3 I've set to Police-mode. The one in the super-duper mart was a bro and helped clean out the ghouls and is still patrolling dutifully. The ones in the subway saw me as a threat on start-up for some reason. I had my weapon out and armor on for the super-duper mart protectron, so I ruled that out as the reason for the hostility. I dunno.

So I walked into Cabot House, and both NPCs inside were automatically hostile toward me. The normal dialog still played, so the guy by the door was telling me to follow him while shooting me in the face. I tried to kill both of them, but both NPCs are immortal. So they sat on the ground for a while, then got up and started shooting me again. Apparnetly if you leave and come back later this bug is resolved.

I also had to switch companions because of a bug that causes Piper to make a constant annoying clicking noise. I saw a few other people mention this online, but found no fix.

I am enjoying the game a lot, but man there are some rough spots.

Yeah it's too bad, cause i rather not shoot the little dudes, but ah well. The Super Duper Mart one was ok as medical worker, did not attack me and killed plenty of ghouls there. But when i went back, he was also back in his thing. Odd.

I started using Red Rocket as my base of operations. I saw mention that it makes for a better place to send your companions since it's so small. I can't find Dogmeat though; I'm travelling with a different companion and Dogmeat showed up to help me on a quest, but I'm not sure where he went afterwards and I haven't seen him around Sanctuary. Maybe he's still where the mission ended because I haven't continued on with it.

Anyways, my Red Rocket is coming along fairly nicely. I put a prefab wooden house on the top of it. I'm definitely coming around on the settlement building stuff but it could be implemented so much better.

Can you make normal looking buildings? Or is it only run down looking buildings/roofs and walls with holes in them type deal?

I send my companions to the smaller settlements because they're always wandering around doing their companion thing. Dogmeat in particular is a pain to find and yeah I had trouble finding him after that quest. Try finishing that quest and/or building him a dog house in Sanctuary (that's where he showed up for me but it took me forever to find him).

you may already know this, but the weight of armor affects your stealth - the lighter the armor the quieter you are while sneaking.

As for Dogmeat - not really sure if this matters, but he can be equipped with light dog-armor, so the same mechanic applies, but this seems redundant assuming that he's without armor by default - either way, he's still no ninja.

You don't have to worry him stealing kills either because they go towards XP.

The ATTACK DOG perk does works well in certain situations, however it's almost a waste if your PERCEPTION is low.

I didn't like Piper at first but she's not bad. Valentine is hard to beat though, what a great character
(and quite the surprise when you first meet him!)

I think it's based on the personality. I had a few that were fine until I changed the personality, but I don't remember which one it was. Just that it asked for a subway token or something then attacked.

Can someone explain to me how armour crafting works exactly? All the left leg, right arm, chestpiece stuff has me confused. When I wear this stuff I'm in my underwear with a few bits of metal clamped to me...

That's the whole point of RadAway. It's the best implementation of radiation poisoning I've seen in a Fallout game. It just makes sense.

Is anyone else ignoring missions and just going from point to point via the radar at the bottom? You can get lost for hours just roaming around finding new buildings.
