Why is it that when I have the local leader perk my junk isn't showing up at all my settlements? Do I have to some how assign this?

You have to assign one of the settlers at the settlement to run a supply line back to your main settlement.

Yeah, go up to any settler in build mode and there's an option, I think it's R1 on the PS4, to supply another settlement. You have to create a supply chain like that. It's a bit tedious but worth it if you really want to get involved with building settlements. There will also be an option on your pipboy world map to show your supply chain.

I'm absolutely hooked on this game. Bloodborne is the only other game this gen that has hooked me this bad. Tech issues aside, the overall package is addicting as hell and a lot of fun. There's a magic the Fallout games capture that's just wonderful.

Thanks! (and to the person above as well).

haha i see, that happened to me once as well. first patch will be interesting.

I eagerly await it. I've not had any crashes thankfully, just a lot of slowdowns, especially when raining of course and as you see above, single-digit FPS drops and getting stuck on the map.

have two points to spend. thinking Science and Bloody Mess/Scrounger/Mystery Stranger

I think you should invest in the Luck perks as you suggest, I have up to Mystery Stranger and it's a lot of fun.

I mean everything feels kind of half baked. It's got kind of a bio shock retro mix feel but it's not done as well. Charachters are paper thin. Story is paper thin. Combat is serviceable. Visuals are okay, missions are basic. Go here-kill these dudes for (reasons) and collect. It just all seems like a bunch of ideas that are all serviceable but not stellar

Interpretation, I guess. When you'd ask me to describe this game, 'half-baked' would be the last thing that comes to mind.

I dunno, the fact that a game like this lets you roam free in a world and you can spend the time doing quests or collecting traffic cones to place around your house is the main draw. And I love the Fallout universe, with its alternate history.

Any idea if Luck affects the items you find in Lunchboxes? I've open half a dozen now and always get cutlery... Wondering if it's because my Luck is on 2 =P

Yes minutemen is the constant faction, even at the story point where you need to choose one and piss off the others

could someone tell me when this is... i just joined the railroad faction and would still like to do the other 2......
??

the story quest i have now is going to the glowing seas????

Does the game warn you before you make another faction hostile?

Playing the main factions against each other just now to do as many quests as I can before choosing.

So I bought this today on the PC and first attempts at starting the game resulted in an instant crash. Updated drivers. Nothing. Updated to beta drivers. Nothing. Verified file cache, 1 file corrupt. Nothing. Changed some setting in DXCPL... game loads.

Try to start a new game, black screen and game hangs. Tried some changes that are out there on the web (compatibility mode, windowed vs not, running as administrator). Nothing.

So massively frustrating. I've not played a game since December 2012 and I was really looking forward to this. I have a new graphics card coming, but if that doesn't fix the issue then I've just wasted a massive amount of money to essentially just play one game. :(

So, do I have to pick 50 locks, hack 50 computers, etc., in one play through? Or does the achievement track the game as a whole?

what are some of the must-do, easy to miss sidequests in this game?

i looked up where i was in the main questline and realized im WAYYYY closer to the end than i thought (
just completed hunter/hunted
) and only have like 15 hours into the game.

im used to being closer to 50 by the time i finish

I'm about at the end of the "main quest line" and I gotta say the 40 hours I've spent with this game so far have been a ton of fun

The issues are there, it's clear that the half baked voice protagonist and the watered down dialogue wheel are an obvious attempt to appeal on a more widespread level, much to the ire of the RPG enthusiast (understandably so - for both sides - $750 million in a day is nothing to yawn at) There are obvious areas for improvement here, have the same voice actor record several iterations of the game dialogue (the money is there, cough, again $750 million). You could choose "heroic" "restrained" "edgy", etc - to better assume a role and feel more like this is an RPG in the classic sense - maybe even different voice actors for different tones. Would also give the player the option to stay out of the "cinematic" camera during dialogue... and lastly - show the exact sentence that's being said on the screen, not "sarcastic", "agree", etc. I think those adjustments would go a long way in assuaging some of the hate the RPG purists have been levying in this thread and elsewhere. And TBH it seems like a relatively easy fix in terms of game systems.

Additionally, Witcher 3 releasing earlier this year did Bethesda no favors - its clear the writing in F4 is nowhere near that level, same with the voice acting, and animation. TW3 raised the bar for open world storytelling, and i don't think it'll be topped anytime soon.

That being said, there's no substitute for the initial feeling of exploring in a Bethesda game. My god what a treat its been to wander around ruined boston and its outskirts, the improved combat a welcome accompaniment. It's almost enough to make all my other quibbles disappear.

I mean, its clear to me that TW3 is the better game, but i'm not sure i actually had more fun with it.

I have heard that some people have had more luck running the game in Windowed Mode Fullscreen. Maybe try that?

Pretty sure I just confirmed you can do any faction and all trophies splitting from the Mass Fusion mission. Where you do Molecular Level does not lock you out of any missions required for ending or trophies.

I really want the "Fatman." Where do I find one that I don't have to buy? I tried to steal one from the gunsmith at Goodneighbor but I got caught..

I connected a settlement to Sanctuary and Red Rocket, without having those two connected, and had access to my workshop materials from Sanctuary at the Red Rocket.

There's a raider in Lexington that always has one. Be careful though, he uses it.

Is anyone else finding the new method to switch weapons supremely annoying? Before, you would just press any of the 8 directions on the d-pad and your weapon would automatically switch and be equipped. Now you have to press a direction on the d-pad once, then again or two more times depending on which slot the weapon is in, and then X (PS4) to select the weapon. All in real-time. This is super fucking annoying when you're being ambushed by 3 or more bandits/raiders. Is there a quicker way that I just don't know about yet?

Yea it's shit. Given the immense speeds at which enemies close the gap from 100 yards to clipping your reticle at point-blank, I can't switch to my chosen close combat weapon fast enough, in many cases just saying fuck it and unloading sniper shots while being clawed. Back-peddling into random environment garbage that gets you stuck is also one of those irritations that anyone just loves!

I mostly think the combat overall is garbage, both in trying to be an FPS experience and an RPG but doing neither well. It can occasionally feel great setting up land-mine traps on super mutant hideouts and leading them to death with sneaky sniper fire. The moment a plan goes sour and I am forced into actual combat...I regularly think it's one of the worst games ever crafted by man. But hey at least I can quick save my way to success through every inch of a planned setup, avoiding actual engagements is the true fallout experience.

I'll say this, I love the Fallout games and I was a bit disappointed the first 10 hours or so. But then it clicked, and it's almost my favorite in the series. Definitely my favorite Bethesda game. The first several missions I encountered were pretty generic, but there are definitely some good ones in there.

And off-topic from that, Am I the only one that hates power armor in this game? I never use it. I have a ton of fusion cores piling up. Just don't like the feeling of being in power armor.

I absolutely HATED Fallout 3 but I'm having a blast here. Still think there's obvious issues - dialogue choice is so damned vague and annoying, plus having 10 charisma feels like cheating. I like the feeling of negotiating a dialogue wheel and 'winning' by picking a series of right choices, not just always going for the orange/red coloured line. Performance is also questionable (even on PC) but the gunplay is so, so much better than before.

Fallout 3 was borderline unplayable for me due to how awful the combat was. I don't even use VATs anymore. And building settlements is surprisingly fun.

Haven't really bothered much using automatic weapons due to them being less efficient per shot for the ammo both in an out of VATS, but I've been screwing around modding Righteous Authority to see what mods do what.

Without taking any weapon perks, it appears that the improved automatic barrel is an absolute VATS monster. It does more damage per action bar than any other mod for the gun. Obviously it uses up more ammo per action though.

I did find something interesting though; crtical bar use doesn't just affect the first "projectile" during a single action. It counts them all. This was really easy to prove too. Anyway, what this means is that when you use a critical shot bar with an automatic weapon, every projectile within that action crits.

What I am not sure of though is whether or not the innate double critical damage of the gun stacks with the better criticals perk, or if it only counts whichever is the highest of the two. I'll be testing that after my next level up.

When you create a supply line, will all of the connected settlements share resources, or only with the settlement that they're connected to?
Only the Settlements your connected to or if the Settlements your connected to is already connected to that Settlement IIRC.

Example:Red Rocket Station is directly connected to 5 other settlements so you have access to the sources for 6 Settlements. You connect Sanctuary to Red Rocket Station and Sanctuary will have access to the sources that Red Rocket Station has AND the 5 other Settlements Red Rocket Station is connected to.

Hmmm, I will have to venture that way. Thanks for the info!

I've had like 5 Fat Man(s) throughout the game, is there a legendary version somewhere that fires multiple nukes like the Experimental MIRV?

You can mod any Fat Man into an MIRV -- I haven't heard of anyone finding one out in the field, though. The only legendary Fat Man I've found was named something like Furious Fat Man (which is SUCH a good name).

Ok. I hit my stride finally. I think part of the problem is...my normal FO go to is High INT/Science build cause I've always loved laser weapons in the universe. This time, I decided to play something I've never played before: Sniper/Ninja/Sneak dude. Last night I started to turn that corner a bit and said to myself, "Alright. Now we're getting it done"

Anyone else doing a similar build? Anything I am missing? Seems like I need Gunsmith Rank 3 so my super big rifle can get a silencer. Do I need to craft sneaky armor? I feel like I keep getting caught. I've been taking all the appropriate perks. Basically, I go in to ever encounter slow, snipe and crit as I can, but at some point it pops off and I have to bust out my laser rifle.

My silenced/scoped Pipe Rifle can 1 shot smaller enemies and do about 1/3 damage on Super Mutants.

This is my first Fallout so I don't know if this is normal or not but about 10 hours in and the game seems to lack any real charm. Is that consistent with how you guys feel? Is it more about the sandbox elements

Yup, the roleplaying elements always lack with Bethesda so their games never have the depth. This game is good if you like exploring, building bases and guns. If you wanted a RPG then you'll be disappointed with it.

*edit*

I also HATED the start of the game. The terrible dialogue with the robot soured me on it. I did warm up to it though. Mainly because I liked upgrading guns and bases. I usually dislike that too so they must have done a good job with it.

Has anyone noticed a bug where when you sell stuff to the arms dealer in diamond city you don't get any caps? I just noticed it yesterday after selling a valuable weapon (1000+ caps).

If you could somehow bring what Bethesda brings to the world and merge it with what Obsidian brought to the world.

I read somewhere that settlements with surplus food can share with settlements that don't have enough. Does this only occur if they're directly connected?

Is there any way to prevent Maccreedy from picking up random shitty weapons and ammo? It's such a waste of good ammo when he has a sniper rifle with infinite bullets. Do all human companions do this?

Deacon also picked up an assault rifle at some point and used 11 rounds until it ran out.

Yes.

Connect everyone to your main base..so if you have connected with a Farming community..they share work bench..and I believe send food back your way.

I really have a problem with forgetting that robots tend to explode when you melee them to death. Picked up the sword with +50% damage to Robots and always seem to switch over to that (Legendary Assaultron was constantly 1shotting me with her face laser, melee was a lot less scary), Robot dies, I go to loot and die in the explosion.

Great, ran into the crashing quests bug, now no matter what I do, restart/reinstalled, it crashes on me when I reach a certain area.. :\

Here's to waiting for a patch, and building stuff for a bit, I guess..

Cait's quest done. So thats Nick, Curie and Cait confirmed to have quests. Next!
