Game is a joke at higher levels so I downloaded a mod that makes enemies deal 7x damage to me while I deal 75% damage to them. RIP.

The mist in this game is insane. It's like Bethesda are trying to fry my retinas.

Im struggling to maintain my faction juggle act. Late / end game story and faction spoilers!

I guess im done with Brotherhood because the next quest for them (Tactical Thinking) automatically puts my Railroad stuff in a fail state, Im juggling the Railroad quest to free the Synths while helping Father with his quests (as the Railroad quest itself tells me to). I just did Battle for Bunker Hill (what a clusterfuck since I warned both the Railroad and the BoD lol) and now I have a quest called Mankind Redefined. Is this the point of no return? Father wants me back at the Institute to talk to the bosses aparently.

So yeah I think I cant do much else now before making everyone angry

What difficulty are you playing on?

I'm playing it on Very Hard, and at level 18 I still find it a pretty good challenge.

Survival.

Once you get fully upgraded power armor and high tier weapons nothing is a challenge or a threat anymore. This is a problem with all Vanilla Bethesda games, eventually you just become an unstoppable god. And before people say it, I don't want to artificially handicap myself. If the game gives me tools I will use them.

I forgot the setting I played Skyrim in until someone told me what it did which was make enemies 3 times stronger and makes you 3 times weaker! I was wondering why I had to use hack armor to defeat a boss at level 30 who dropped 3400 gold instead of the 650 you would expect from legendary bosses in the vanilla game.

I much like the combat in Fallout 4 so far at level 16 on hard but I deliberately started on hard knowing I can dial it up later in the game but I hope it doesn't get to the point where the difficulty breaks that... your problem gives me hope :)

You don't want to handicap yourself, so your using mods to handicap yourself. Okay.

Cait doesn't seem to be reacting to my action anymore. Is that glitched or is there a timelimit on when actions give points to relationships?

if you mean like chain popping drugs for her to like you, no you cant do that

They don't always react to stuff. Like they could react to one lockpick but not the other. They just decide to react to it and like/hate it.

For example with Curie she doesn't react to the nice shit I'm doing in front of her but when the science nerd is all

"CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT TYPE OF RAYS WE HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IN TODAY'S SOCIETY?"

And I tell her "who-gives-a-crap rays"

she dislikes it.

Have I hit a bug? I'm doing the Nuclear Option for the railroad. I'm told to go talk to the
synth in the Institute.
Wen I arrive, nobody is there, and it progresses to having me go clear out the relay control room. The only way I know to get there is to use the elevator. The elevator says I have no access to it. Help please

Not enough french accent for your Curie quote, please edit.

Companions reacting to lockpicking has resulted in some really funny/weird moments. Yes, the middle of a Super Mutant fortress is perfect for a heart-to-heart, Piper. And all because I was picking some locks.
If i link Settlment A with B and then A with C, will B get C's materials too even if they're not directly connected?

Yep. Just daisy chain them together.

I've been playing on Normal - will this prevent me from getting the platinum? What benefit is there of playing on higher difficulties? (I heard you encounter more Legendary enemies for better loot)

apparently there's no difficulty specific trophies/achievements. If you go higher in difficulty enemies are harder, hp items don't heal as much, and legendary enemies appear more and more frequently. I'm playing on hard. I might be switching one higher soonish as I'm one-shotting many enemies now with my sneaking.

lol yeah i think like the second day i played like 11 hours it felt like a few hours... was like

I'm not even at Diamond City yet and I've put so much time in this game. . I don't know where my day went. Please help.

Also how do I level up workshops (armor)?

I'm playing on very hard, I might actually go down one difficulty. I rather get the unique weapons/armor than depend on a legendary drop (no Destiny RNG please) and I feel like right now I'm getting killed in cheap ways.

Got to Diamond City finally.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh....I get it.

Also I killed that Legendary Sentry Bot. Super Good Advice for those that like me, don't read the descriptions:
When he starts to overheat, the vents on his back will open up, and you can target his fusion cores to deal extra damage.
That said-when he dies-get far away because the explosion radius is massive.

I've put in a lot of hours but I've been playing very slowly so far. I haven't even hit the Boston Ruins yet and the lower half of the map like The Glowing Sea, or the Swamps or the Coast...

Is there an arena or fight club in this? Remember seeing it in a trailer.

Trying to build a fence in my settlement and because the ground is uneven everything floats in the air as the floor falls away. Am I missing something or is the building just that bad?

Nah. I popped a Jet, unlocked a door and acted like a dick to an old man and she didn't seem to react to any of them.

Hahaha, well that's good to know I guess!

The ground is pretty uneven in a bunch of spots. You can lay down two types of foundations from the Wood->Floor section of the workshop. A concrete block and a stilted platform. You can sink those into the ground to build a flat surface.

There's no way to adjust fences to match the ground though.

Also, 81 hours here.

My roommates are at around 90 hours. I just can't do it. Maybe for a BioWare game (BioDrone reporting in :p) but for anything else I just really need to have time to do other things -- read, write, walk, watch TV... post on NeoGAF. Heh.

I'm at 30 at the moment.

whats that boss (?) that people keep talking about?
Swan
or something like that?

I haven't gone back to Jack Cabot to pick up that reward, but I did stumble across Cabot and what-his-face (his guard) wandering the wasteland up near Sanctuary. Cabot said they were exploring away from the house and looking for fiber optics, and offered to buy any that I had. Maybe he's off wandering?

I found him in the asylum basement. It told me to meet him there. Maybe look there?

So what's everyone's ideal loadout for their weapons around end game?

I'm hoping to have:

  1. Kellogg's
    Pistol
  2. Deliverer
  3. The Guardian Overseer
  4. Les Fusil Teribles

No hoping that I get a nice legendary drop. Just run and get these and enjoy the game. Also hoping that DLC really cranks it up for people who end up having end game builds.

I sent the
ghoul vault-tec guy
to Sanctuary, and happiness dropped from 85 to 54.

Bunch of racist fucks.
Maybe
the vault-tec rep
is just so unhappy that they're bringing down average happiness; they sure don't seem happy with how things went, haha.

Weirdest thing happened to me... I was in downtown Boston just doing whatever when suddenly the frame rate tanks for no clear reason. I look up and it turns out that two BOS Vertibirds have crashed into one another. Cait and I were almost killed by all the flaming wreckage that fell down directly on top of us.

There's a location called
swan lake
to the east of
diamond city

go there and find out for yourself.

will do

my current loadout:

left 3 slots are legendary plasma rifle, legendary laser musket, legendary laser rifle
right 3 slots - legendary 10mm pistol, legendary .45 magnum,
alien pistol
up 3 slots - legendary explosive shotgun, legendary automatic rifle, legendary non-automatic rifle
down 3 slots - stimpack, frag grenades, legendary sniper rifle

no slot for my legendary fatman and quad missile launchers, but I also have those on me for when needed :p
