whats up with the MIRV mod to Fatmen, it drastically reduces its damage. What am I missing?

Are there going to be any nasty repercussions if I join both the
Railroad
and the
Brotherhood of Steel
?

Or will it lock me out of one anyways?

Yeahhhhhhhhhh...................... about that.........
yes

It's kind of hard to answer your question without just straight up spoiling the end of the game, but it's pretty easy to see where they're going with it from early on.

You can do that both at the same time but eventually YOU WILL have to choose one of the 3 main factions to go with and get ignore the other two.

The game actually breaks the 4th wall to tell you that point of no return thou IIRC so keep calm and play on.

I don't remember any 4th wall-breaking "THIS IS THE BIG DECISION, SAVE NOW" kind of stuff, but they do make it as obvious as it possibly can be.

Trader Rylee (the trader in the vault suit found in the cannery building) is bugged for me. Told her to go to the Castle, then I did Theodore's quest. Afterwards, couldn't find her so I used the console to teleport to her, and she's somehow ended up in a closed-up room in the same area of the world map as where I found her.

Why does it look like you are playing on a PS1?

I think only the ones you "execute" so I guess you cant crit out of VATS either.

Yeah, I figured that was the case.

Kind of weird that criticals are more like your special/ultra move or Final Fantasy Limit Break that you build meter for, rather than actually being something based off a critical chance stat.

Lol, a super mutant said "stupid humans, always wanting to fight" as soon as I started shooting.

I hate the leaping attack they do. I'm always think I have enough distance between me and them, and then they lunge at you in the blink of an eye. Fuckers.

Yeah, so far they are really the only thing that can more often than not kill me. Need to get better weapons.

Why does it look like you are playing on a PS1?

Guess you've never played PS1

Are the quests in the questlist ordered by anything? It's not oldest/newest and it's not alphabetically. Is it recommended level or something like that?

I know for some stuff there is a message that says "Doing this will preferentially make you hostile with <Faction>". I think it only does that on the less obvious ones, stuff like "Kill the Leaders of <Faction>", the game doesn't bother to explicitly say doing it will make them hostile.

I cannot believe this thread is going to roll over to OT2 this early in the release :) Blue Ninja is going to pause exploring the waste land to setup an OT2. It's still probably too early to drop spoiler tags for most plot points right? I mean I'm around 50 hours in and I'm still in the starting quarter of the map.

Alright, thanks for the help with the faction questions, guys.

Not sure which side I'll go with, and I'm not particularly sure I even care. I'm actually interested in the fact that a 3rd option is in the mix that I don't know about yet.

When do you get locked into a faction? Is it based on main story missions for following that faction's missions? I'm pretty far along in the Railroad missions, but I want to start doing some BoS missions so I can get in their
big dumb blimp
and steal their stuff.

You can spoil the game for me, I don't care.

You asked...some spoilers but not giving it all away.

After Molecular Level and Institutionalized you can start doing the end game quests for any faction you have previously joined. Joining a faction does not lock you out of other factions. It is the completion of their near end game quest lines that will lock you in. You do not have to choose during the Molecular Level mission that suggests to pick someone to build with, that won't lock you out of anything. The Railroad and Institute follow a similar path while the Brotherhood of Steel and Minutemen follow separate paths. As far as we know and I've experienced the Mass Fusion mission for Railroad and Institute is a point of no return of Brotherhood of Steel and Tactical Thinking for the BoS is a point of no return for the Railroad.

Started this last Tuesday on PS4 when I got it - first Fallout game and I stuffed it up completely (thought it would be hilarious to run around naked and dumped all my junk in the middle of the wasteland, not to mention decided to completely ignore the main story and got into running battles with Ghouls...)

So restarted last night properly now I understand how VATS and SPECIAL works - going for an Intelligence and Charisma build this time.

Made it to Red Rocket Workshop and plan on setting that up as my main base - cant be bothered at his point with the whole settlement stuff...i might get into that once i finish the main storyline though as it will be essential to the platinum i plan on getting here.

Anyway...yeah.

Same. I guess I will skip that and put more points into something else.

Level 40, OP as fuck on very hard, and haven't invested a single point into any of the modding perks. Between shops, hunting legendary enemies, and looting your surroundings you should be able to amass a decent selection of weapons and mods to cobble together a nice arsenal, or at the very least a powerful main.

So Molecular Level and Institutionalized are main story missions? Before that I'll just be getting the endless quests past a certain point.

Can someone help me out with The Battle for Bunker Hill?

I sided with the Railroad so I warned them about the Institute going after those synths. I go to Bunker Hill, kill the Course and all the synths and some BoS people in that big fight, I go underground to those synths and they all just say "thank you for saving us, blah blah blah", but I still have a bunch of quest markers leading to them as well as a quest marker to talk to Father in those ruins but I go there and I can't find a way to get to the marker.

I've had a few things happen today. First off I had a really strange graphical bug that happened when I looked in a certain area, so I took multiple screenshots of it to make a gif showing it. A save, quit and reload fixed it, so nothing major there. Gifv with not enough frames before it kicks in, but a rough idea of the glitch: http://i.imgur.com/cLwJaB2.gifv

Right now I'm on my way to Quincy and a car at the entrance to a Red Rocket went crazy and physics killed me. Reloaded and in the middle of a firefight I saw someone walk by, so I left my follower to take care of business while I went and said hello. Wanted to barter but the game decided I didn't want to be in a conversation with her anymore, so my click shot her in the face. Cheers, game.

I think I might enable Shadowplay for the first time ever. Any tips for that?

end game spoiler be warned!

nooooooooooooooo
Glory
:(

fuckers! ;_;

Running over the bridge to Sanctuary

My game bugs out and I get a load screen

I spawn at the top of the skybox and slowly drop to my death

Thanks Bethesda?

He's on the roof outside on top of CIT, was a pain in the ass to find. If I remember correctly go in, then turn directly left and then left again. So the West Wing of the building. Not sure about the synth predicament though, I did the mission with the Institute.

Yes.

Yes.
Do you get to the roof from inside?

Never mind. Either you edited or I'm losing my mind.

Take a side path (I think it was to the right) when entering the building, rather than going straight back. There is a transition door that will lead you to the roof. Using the local map can help there.

One of the two in the Library has a magazine in it for like 45 tokens. Of the like 5 machines I've found that's the only one with something worthwhile.

Interesting. Haven't been there yet, but I'll keep it in mind. Glad I don't have to spend it all on delicious pink food paste.

I think an event.

What is it?

Obviously a spoiler
I got to see this alien spaceship of sort crash land in the horizon. Leaving a trail of black smoke. It didn't leave a marker in my map, but i want to venture to see the wreckage.

There has been other instances where i have stumbled on some people burying and holding a funeral out in the wasteland

And. walking around Boston i got this band of guys trying to extort 2k caps from me for letting me go alive. I convinced them to only pay 500.. which granted me 2 times experience, then experience for resolving the subplot, and then i shot the guys and retrieved all my caps. Life is tough.

By one the train stations there is a spot house and in it a body with a computer that talks about a delivery gone wrong. With some ambush that happened at midnight. Pretty sure that will open to something but i have yet to return to the spot at that time.

Just some examples of things that have happened. All of these don't spawn a quest... so i consider them events.

So...about the dead guy and dog at the end of the bridge in Sanctuary, is he supposed to still be there after 20 hours of play?

He responses dead there all the time so either a bug or yeah it is. I even tried throwing his body in the water, but then another body appeared when I played again.

Oh my god, I don't know how many times I picked up his dead body and tossed it into the river before I realized he was coming back every time I booted the game back up.

Yeah, all of the dead ghouls from a settlement keep appearing when I reload. It's really trashy to have these dead zombie like corpses around my village, why can't I et rid of them in build mode?
