All I know is when you have a 2 million min expectation for a series that is 23 yrs old and revived the fighting scene, you ain't doing so good.

Also SF5 is going up against the Far Cry Primal, Mighty N9 (Which is on ten platforms), NS: UNS4 and PVZ: GW2. I really hope Capcom has a back-up plan if anything goes awry.

It's solid numbers for the budget, you don't really need to make a hell of a lot with fighting games.
That, and, Capcom sales expectations use to be legit stupid over the top. Them lowballing the game is good actually. It means when the game makes 3-5 million sales, they'll be happy... instead of rebooting to a western studio cause it didn't do 6.

Yowch at that XBO comment about saving for a PS4.

For some reason I didn't realize there wouldn't be an aracade version coming out first...weird.
Not only "first", it's not planned at all from what we know so far. Although I imagine it can't be that hard to make with an existing PC version. I guess the arcade business is not as compelling as it used to be.

Look at the sales of SF4:

They are not that great, honestly. And that one was on all platforms, Ultra even on next gen. 2 million is just being realistic.

Why would X1 owners even want SF5 when they have Killer Instinct?
Maybe they want to play a popular fighting game

What I find interesting is the idea that SFV will get support for the long term.

If they're planning to support the game that way I doubt their team will actually make new fighting games in the near future. Doing so will cut their base.

Which makes sense considering how strapped for cash Capcom actually ish. They have no made hardly any games besides F2P and remasters outside of publisher backed contracts. The only smaller console release has been Resident Evil Revelations 2 for the whole gen so far

Based Ono said:
What is your message to Street Fighter fans on Xbox One?

O: [Laughs] There’s plenty of time to save $300 before the game comes out. The PlayStation 4 is at a very attractive price point at the moment. [Laughs]

Maybe they'd make more money if they didn't have a popular series trapped on each gaming platform lol. Dead Rising on XBox, Monster Hunter on Nintendo and Street Fighter on Playstation.

Those series are "trapped" in the first place due to a lack of money to start with.

LOL. You are trying too hard dude c'mon.

As a PS4 owner who likes the Xbox One better, and a huge Street Fighter fan... Ono's comments sting.

What a dick response on his part.

Between the collector's editions and DLC and fight sticks and fight pads spent I roughly $750 on Street Fighter IV and its licensed merchandise for my X360. (not including the console)

Comments like Ono's make me want to return my SFV preorder and buy a different game's licensed merchandise...

Personally, I don't think he was being dickish... What else could he say?

First off, he could not have laughed. That would be a start.
He could have said something like, "I appreciate all our Xbox fans, and they can still enjoy SFV on a PS4, or also on a PC."

Monster Hunter being the exception though. That didn't need nintendo's money, but Capcom correctly predicted the Vita would sell diddly squat, so they opted for the easy money.

The more we care about Arika characters, the more ridiculous Arika's price becomes.

The sad situation.

Skullo hype must die for skullo to live.

Keep telling yourself that. They ported MHG to the Vita so they definitely could have ported the other mainline MH's but didn't for whatever reason.

I could care less, honestly. Fighting games are boring and I've regretted every purchase I've made of one including SFIV.

I hope it comes to Xbox for those who care, but I wouldn't buy it for either system. I'm glad this is one of the exclusives they're in the mud on about, too, and that Rise of the Tomb Raider is Xbox's better option.

MKX is on Xbox One too by the way.

Miles' comment kind of irks me as well, and I really do enjoy playing KI. The fact of the matter is SFV should be on all consoles but Sony put up the money to develop it. Could be a different scenario if Xbox One allowed full cross platform play with other platforms like PS4, but it doesn't do that's another strike against it.

if you want to be on a platform where the hottest fighting games are all but confirmed to be on it regardless...? Get a PC.

You're really scraping the bottom of the barrel here. If anything, those games that are going up against SF5.

Maybe so, but I would have bought those games if they came out on my preferred platform and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Release everything on everything, I say.

I understand, but my point is that platform holders backing some of these projects allows them to get made in the first place, even with console exclusive stipulations. People should be happy that we got another Dead Rising and Street Fighter so early period instead of another re-release like most of Capcom's output this gen is.

They did not say 2m lifetime.

But yeah, the series is not nearly what it used to be. Just as well they play it safe and take the moneyhat.

I keep hearing this been said but I haven't seen any material stating it. Can I have a link?

That Skullomania sequence killed me.

But how has Capcom not cleared them by now? People have been asking for ages. It's a weird loose end to still be dangling.

Maybe there were some bridges burned during the production of the game.

I assume Arika is just charging a lot for the license. And with the success of SF4 and presumably 5, I'm not surprised they would.

Isn't that 2 million number just for the fiscal year? It will do a lot more than that lifetime. Those other games are not really much competition either. Actually SFV is way more high profile than any of those games aside from maybe the Far Cry spin-off that may or may not be any good. None of those are blockbusters and if you want to play a competitive fighting game they don't scratch that itch. It won't release to slaughter like that other exclusive.

Really interested to see the story mode pans out as I assume that is how they plan to attract more casuals.

...so why are you even in this thread? Just to shit it up? That subtle salt.

...

Ah, Skullomania. I slightly preferred Garudo myself, but that's just me.

Anyway, it occurs to me that it might be better for Capcom (as well as cheaper) to pursue some KOF characters as guest stars. Y'know, Kyo, Iori, Terry and all that jazz. SNK gets money to do the 2D KOF XIV we all want, and we also kinda-sorta get the CvS sequel we all kinda-sorta want. Win-win! Get on it, Ono-san!

:p

Well, SF5 is not released the same day as Fallout 4 so it will live

Oh, thought SFV was being discussed within the quote. Not DR3, SFV.

It is, but DR3 was an example of how part of their recent output seems to be funded by others, F2P, smaller projects, etc, which is why deals like SF V happen in the first place.

I'm referring to SFV not being around unless for the deal, can I have a link for this info? I'm intrigued.
