I wonder if we'll see Tony Stark - Director of SHIELD in this film.

I mean, he doesn't seem to be wearing Black Sabbath shirts anymore.

Totally. He hasn't learned a damn thing from Ultron. He still wants to put a suit of armour around the world but this this is a different (more oppressive) kind of armour.
Or maybe he's presented with a choice: Join or go to prison and have your wealth and company taken away.

Basically, the guy runs a multinational corporation and uses it to fund the avengers. The government has more control over him than they do with Cap. And that doesn't even factor in the guilt he feels over Ultron.

Ant-Man is already shrunk in this shot; in the leaked footage of the same scene you can see him running behind Hawkeye.

Loving the way crossbones looks

Doesn't Pepper actually run the company now though?

Or is Captain America a hypocrite; it was Scarlet Witch playing on Stark's fears that caused Ultron.
Considering Tony then did exactly the same thing a few days later with Vision and it only worked that time due to serendipity, nah, Ultron was all Tony. Scarlet Wish just gave him a little push.
I love it.

Comic book films need more than good v. evil garbage.

Give me some moral gray!
Yeah, Tony's gonna be a great antagonist because he's been built up so well for the previous movies.

Scarlet Witch didn't cause Whiplash to happen in Iron Man 2 or Killian to happen in Iron Man 3. Scarlet Witch also didn't tell Stark to solve the "you made a murder robot" problem by building another potential murder robot. Most of Stark's problems are his own creation.

And people were of course complaining about the running shot because half of them wouldn't run. Lo and behold, one with partially finished effects has three of them using their abilities.

If anyone switches sides, my bet is on Vision. He'll tag along with Stark and Co with an essentially neutral moral compass. As things progress, he will see what he is doing is wrong. His breaking away from Team Stark will be the tipping point for Tony seeing the error of his ways. I see Vision telling him the way things are like a child pointing out the hypocrisy of a parent. It will be simple and pure and Tony will back down.

I see the driving force behind Vision's learning the error of his endeavor being related to a Scarlet Witch brewing romance.

Just my take.

Basically, I believe Vision will play a major role in this and most people are overlooking that. The MCU team has to play upon his relatively innocent worldview and this is the perfect opportunity.

Guys, aren't we forgetting that FUCKING THUNDERBOLT ROSS IS BACK!?

And apaprently he had the last laugh against Tony.

Think about this: "Thunderbolt" Ross is back. He's supporting the Sokovia Accords. Which are for the "Registration and Deployment of Enhanced Individuals." Baron Zemo is in the mix.

...is Ross creating the Thunderbolts? A combination of all of its incarnations? Zemo pulling the strings like the original version, villains being recruited like the 2000s version, Ross as the head like the newest version?

That'd be the dream.

What's gonna really happen is at the end they'll be about to kill each other in the middle of the streets when a hand gets placed on both of their shoulders. Bruised and angry they weakly turn to look at who stopped them. It's a street shawarma vendor.

"No more fighting," he says as a single tear falls down his cheek.

Cap and Tony look at each other and flashbacks of how delicious and nutritious that shawarma they had after Avengers was. Shawarma vendor puts one in each of their hands

"Shawarma means peace in arabic" he says as inspirational music plays.

Tony and Cap hug each other. Then they intertwine arms like newlyweds and feed each other their own shawarma.

The End.

I want this to happen now.

Beautiful.

Is Hulk in this? Whoever has the Hulk wins

Thor and Hulk are not in this most likely for this reason.

Wasn't Whiplash mostly because Howard Stark fucked over a collaborator (who had some primitive schematics), with Killian being a result of... Tony standing him up?

Tony has always tried to make amends for his mistakes. Hell, the entire iron man armour exists for that reason.

He has? I didn't think that at all.

Iron Man 2 = Whiplash goes after Stark because Stark's family apparently stole tech from his father. Stark was way too overconfident and thought nobody else could replicate his technology. He treats Justin Hammer like a dick and Hammer in response contracts Whiplash in order to get on Stark's level.

Iron Man 3 = Stark gets his home destroyed and Pepper nearly killed because he calls out an international terrorist on live television. Turns out the international terrorist is actually someone Stark treated like shit in the past.

Avengers 2 = Stark builds Ultron. Tries to solve the problem by building another murder robot and gets lucky.

The only person in the MCU who needs some actual oversight is Stark, because he ends up being the reason behind most of his own problems/villains.

I was going to type up a post about how completely outclassed Cap is in a physical fight with Iron Man, even with the Winter Soldier helping him out, but then I remembered that a movie I'm looking forward to just as much as this one is called Batman vs Superman.

But seriously, in a physical fight it's not close. Iron Man can lift a utility-sized nuclear reactor over his head and fly with it, survive an atom bomb detonating close to him, has a shit-ton of lethal and non-lethal weapons, and can fly. Cap can lift about a ton and has a shield and some combat armor. In the comic Cap beats him because Vision shorted out his armor. If Iron Man straight up loses a physical fight without some kind of plot contrivance like that, it's a job of the highest order.

However, this is the same series where an Iron Man armor got blown apart like a Frogger arcade machine after getting hit by a truck, so I guess anything goes.

This is the best possible ending and I'm going to be disappointed if it's not this.

Headcanon accepted

Can somebody give a noob who jus watches these movies without any comic knowledge a rundown of why they are fighting

If you've watched the previous movies and this trailer you know exactly why they're fighting.

No comic info is needed, or even relevant for that matter. This story does not follow the comic.

Comics won't help. Reason for fighting is totally different in the movies since there are no secret identities.

Not to mention Tony probably won't be the loathsome person he is in the comic Civil War.

Why did they not release a Black Panther movie before this one?

Introducing him plus Spidey and other plot twists, jokes, etc hope they can sort it out.

Its better to tease the Black Panther in this movie and generate enough interest in people. Judging by this thread there are some who don't know who BP is and they would have no interest of him had he not been in the movie.

Even though BP is one of the best all around characters in the Marvel Universe.

I'm already bracing for the inevitable scenario in which Wakanda is just another recovering African hellhole and Black Panther some kind of revolutionary leader.

Because of course, a highly advanced African country couldn't be feasible in the MCU, where aliens walk among us, entire biomechanical bodies can be printed and Heimdall is black.

Don't. Fuck. With. Me. Marvel.

They'll do Wakanda - they're too far into faithfully representing the canon to back down now, certainly.

I'm just wondering what the explanation will be. Is there even one in the comics, or is it just 'Boom, Wakanda'? You'd imagine they'd gotten rich off of their natural resources, but they're a separatist nation (perhaps not always, though).

It'll only take a sentence but I wonder how they'll contextualize the technological advance.

People keep posting that Cap and Bucky "beatdown" against Iron Man, but honestly it just comes across as so silly to me. These are two guys punching a metal suit with their bare fists, up against a guy who could probably take them down with a single blast to the face. In a real fight, do you have any idea how much damage you do to your knuckles just punching another normal human being? Now times that damage by 100 when you're punching a dude in an iron suit. It's like two dudes punching a concrete wall over and over again.

I think too much about these things, I guess is what I'm saying.

I said the same thing.
