Dakou must be sweating right now. He's gotta be a little upset that this tournament isn't full of Japanese killers like most Premier Events have been lol. It's up to Humanbomb and Luffy to save his ass now.

It's the week before the tournament so it's not too surprising. Everyone wants rest before the big tournament.

winners: Xian vs Phenom
Losers: humanbomb vs luffy

Edit: Wait, nevermind that doesn't make sense. I think it goes:

-If Phenom gets first he's in and Dakou is out
-If Xian gets first and Phenom gets second Phenom gets the spot and Dakou is out

Any other scenario Dakou is in, since Luffy and Humanbomb are only locks via points and not premier spots?

Don't know how Bison performs against Sakura, but Luffy has always defeated Phenom.

Luffy defeated him last week in the teams tournament.

BTW, I haven't seen any mention of Dreamhack providing any extra money for this tournament. All I've seen advertise is the 15k that Capcom is already providing. Meaning they just took Capcom's money and didn't add any of their own to this tournament. They use to be known for providing one of the biggest pay outs for SF4 historically because they had an actual pot bonus while everybody else just used entry fees from players.

I don't know for sure if that's the case but it would suck if they took the easy way out and saved some money because Capcom was already going to provide a pretty good size pot bonus for them.

That's exactly what they did. No idea why Smash gets $30k prize pot, but they add nothing to the SF4 pot.

Dreamhack didn't provide a pot bonus for Ultra. Seems all their FGC money went to Melee. Melee got $10,000 for doubles, and a $20,000 for singles.

Well damn, that sucks. They were awfully kind to Smash with those pot bonuses. I don't ever remember DH providing 5 figures for the SF4 games. It was always 5-6k I think.

Mang0 got wrecked. Damn. 3-0.

Let's put it this way. During the Smash tournament one of the waiting messages was for top128. That's a lot. The Smash tournament is twice the size of the SF4 one.

More viewers?

So 17k more viewers means $30k more money from Dreamhack themselves? Not to mention the viewership would be a lot closer if there weren't so many breaks killing the viewership. Maybe a lot of the fan favorites/top players would have entered Dreamhack had they provided 1/3 of the Melee prize pot.

BTW, I'm not saying SF4 deserves the same amount of money as Smash. I just think it deserves 1/3 of the prize pot that Smash got from Dreamhack themselves.

Amurica on blast lol.

Phenom just said that he would prefer to face any of the American players if he qualifies today.

I think Dreamhack not drawing most of the big heavy hitters is just a function of Capcom Cup a week away.

Melee doesn't have a big ass invitational tournament that is drawing everyone eyes towards it.

That means that Melee or Smash in general won't ever reach the heights of Capcom Cup, but that also means that there is no big event drawing away any potential heat.

Yup. Also I don't know if a ton of americans would have attended Dreamhack anyway, but Thanksgiving being two days ago would have caused problems for some folks probably as well.

With Valmaster out from DH sick it reminded me again that I still think at least one person who has qualified for Capcom Cup is going to wind up not making it due to illness, personal emergency, passport issues, etc.
