Xenoblade X Eurogamer Preview: Maybe 2015's Most Impressive Open World

Anyone have/read any experiences playing this off the GamePad? I do a lot of off-TV play, and it looks like you make extensive use of a map/having information on the GamePad when playing from the TV - is the experience a bit lessened when you're playing off GamePad?

Someone needs to use this gif in the review thread tomorrow if it gets good scores

I feel like "Real men play with Dolls" would've been a good one if it didn't get changed in localization.

X gon give it to ya.

I'm starting to believe the misspelling will actually make it into the thread title lol.
I know it's"misspelled"

But I it more so

Deal with is
(And most of the time when I type it I'm on mobile and it auto corrects it)

X is gon give it to ya

So stop it with your less than stellar ot suggestions

If you keep pushing it so hard they'll name the OT something else just to troll us haha.

This is easily the most I've followed the media leading up to review day. Now we just need a montage of a reviewer rushing to meet his deadline. They just finished putting it together, now it's a race against the clock as they take trains, planes, and automobiles en route to the Review Publication Company in New York City. Starring Jim
Sterling
Carrey.

Really excited for reviews to drop tomorrow. Haven't been this excited for a review thread in a while.

Do we know what time the embargo is up?

the future is... changing..!

yeah, but its been damaged for months, just tested it with 3D World and is working somehow. It happened just the day after I bought the replacement stick parts. I am paranoid and think its just some sort of temporal displacement or whatever and it will stop working again.

I'm thinking about buying the Wii U for this game but with the NX coming, I don't know If I'm buying it now or wait for a port or something later on the NX.

My god that video is great.

I could watch that all day.

Xenoblade Chronicles X |OT| X Gon' Give It To Ya

I actually also like Mira Hunter X, but man that video reminded me how awesome that song is. They even spent time kinda lining up the footage to the music.

Never heard of these people but here is a review: http://wegotthiscovered.com/gaming/xenoblade-chronicles-x-review/

Don't think this guy ever played the First Xenoblade lol

Don't worry though, they got this covered.

The complaints about the graphics could be taken straight from a Xenoblade Wii review. It's a fair criticism, but there's a clear tradeoff for those ugly textures and pop-in. I think X improves on the original's framerate at least based on impressions.

Reviewers really don't like grinding, eh. I'm expecting X to score lower than the original largely based on that, but I'm still hoping for 87+. Xenoblade Wii's grinding was a little more optional.

I believe this review's "good" score converts to a 7 on metacritic btw.
How are you even finding these reviews from random sites?

Just google for most recent xenoblade topics.

Doing some reading to fill the void.

Xenoblade X short stories back from the Japanese launch that were being translated by CAAAAAAAAAAAW.

They're set before your created character awakes in the main game.

24 Hour Happy People (set on the White Whale during it's voyage, centred around Lin)

Forging BLADE (set on Mira, goes through how things started out there for everyone)

I just noticed Giant Bomb posted their Quick Look

is it worthwhile?

Vinny and the crab is always worthwhile (8 and a half minute mark).

So uh, are the datapacks necessary? Because I'm dead on storage space for my WiiU and my externals are all reserved for my PC, and even if they weren't I don't have any Y Cables.

Not neccesary, but it's recommended to at least download the basic pack. Info from Nintendo:
Four high-speed data loading packs are available.

Basic High-Speed Data Loading Pack - for greatest impact on your experience, download this pack first
High impact to load times
Installs frequently used data, such as terrain to speed up load times in the city and field.
For greater load-time improvement, use in conjunction with one or more of the other data packs below.
Size: 2011.0 MB

Enemy High-Speed Data Loading Pack - for players who like to explore and fight enemies
Medium impact to load times
Installs frequently used data in the field, such as enemy data.
For greater load-time improvement, use in conjunction with the Basic data pack.
Size: 2937.5 MB

Player High-Speed Data Loading Pack - for players who like to complete lots of missions
Medium impact to load times
Installs the data for character graphics and equipment to speed up load times in the city and when you change equipment.
For greater load-time improvement, use in conjunction with the Basic data pack
Size: 3867.1 MB

Skell High-Speed Data Loading Pack - for players who own and like to customize Skells
Low impact to load times
Installs data for skell graphics to speed up load times in the city and field as well as when loading skell data.
For greater load-time improvement, use in conjunction with the Basic data pack
Size: 1675.1 MB

I have no idea where this, apparently common, belief that the data packs are for the download version comes from...

I don't think a lot of people understand that the data packs are just their workaround for the lack of a game installation ability on Wii U. To be fair, if you don't realize the Wii U doesn't have a game installation feature then downloading packs as a weird workaround for this wouldn't be the first thing you think of.

so reviews are tomorrow morning? cool, been following some people who are reviewing the game and what seems to common complain is that game is rough around the edges- too much fetch quests, being stuck on an affinity mission sucks since you can't do other story missions

I'm gonna predicts lots of 7.5-8.0/10s
