Does this include digital sales? They are becoming a bigger chunk of software salsa nowadays.

But more importantly games like Monster Hunter could be HUGE for the NX console variant

Last year they sold over 250.000 3DS with Monster Hunter 4U. I'm not sure if they'd be happy with this or disappointed.

EDIT: guess they are happy since I learned that last year MH launch coincided with new 3DS variants.

I think it includes download cards bought in stores but not actual eShop purchases from eShop money? Don't know for sure.
 
Wow! Not bad for a system that's been slowing down. I guess Japan really loves MH. What are the chances this is localized in the next year? Or will they wait for the inevitable MHX Ultimate version?
 
I thought people said the sellthrough was higher than 4G despite a larger shipment, but maybe that's just a symptom of the two fewer days of tracking. Did 4G come out on Thursday or Saturday?

Not sure the west is hungry for another monster hunter game. We just got mh4u this year, I don't think Capcom wants to turn it into a yearly release thing for us.

I think chances are near zero for us to get it next year. Yeah they'll most likely wait for an Ultimate edition in 2017 for us, maybe on the NX handheld.

Exactly my thoughts when I clicked on the thread.

I'm VERY impressed with 3DS hardware number.

Did all the stragglers upgrade to n3DS or something? Was not expecting this much hardware to be sold.

Not sure about the shipment being higher or lower than 4G (sell-through definitively IS). We have to wait for Media Create for that.

MH4G also came on Saturday.
 
Great sales for another expansion-type MH game. Didn't Capcom say something about the future of MH on different hardware?
 
With this launch, it's likely that about 50% of the total retail software sales for Japan for the calendar year have all been 3DS games.

Will have to wait for Dengeki to make sure but that's likely the case.

To make myself more clear, half of the total physical games sold in Japan for the first 11 months of the year have likely been 3DS games.

You might be thinking of one MHX artist going to work on a PS4 title instead, which doesn't mean much of anything as far as the series is concerned.

Capcom hasn't said anything about mainline MH appearing on different hardware that I'm aware of, though having the series transition to Nintendo's next portable seems like a safe bet.

3DS is not console gaming. And handheld gaming siphoned away most console gamers in Japan. And now mobile has been siphoning away those handheld gamers.

Still though, out of the 2, I rather have handheld gaming win. More chance for gamers to return to console out of handhelds then mobile.

May be you mean the supposed Monster Hunter Frontier 2 or Monster Hunter Online 2 from Korean rumors long time ago, the rumors said something ln the lines on PS4, but it was pretty long time ago (more than a year, I think) and nothing has been heard since then, I'm pretty sure it was just a fake rumor popping up.

But to be on topic, those numbers are a beast, and if my game arrives to me safe and sound I would be one of them.

I think it is pretty well deserved, it is a fatastic game in many aspects and it really shines.

Only Rumor I remember is the Verendus stuff about MH coming to PS4 but thats about it.

Anywho MH keeps on being a beast. Awesome :)

The only reason there wasn't a Monster Hunter character in Marvel 3 was that the MH team didn't like the idea. I see it very difficult that they'd approve the crossover beyond the Rathalos and Hunter costumes we already got.
