Look at how many levels that place had, I counted like 2 or 3 ?
Even 4 if count the top of some mountains.

Goddammit guys why isn't it Friday yet??

This shit is NOT OKAY.

NOT OKAY.

I know how you feel. A lot of open world games falls in the trap of having huge worlds but not actually having anything interesting to look at in said world. Take the Witcher 3 for example, the environments consists mostly of generic forests, plains and mountains. They look good sure but nothing in them really stands out.

I have to really disagree with you there, buddy.

I love Mira as much as the next guy, but witcher is a weak example.

don't mind vertical stuff just make it easy to traverse after a while

don't want to be 100 hours in the game and still needing to take the long way around to get to the next level

Once you can fly, the terrain and scale of the game is meaningless. It's kind of a bummer, but that's why it's so late in the game.

Keep in mind that the guides are currently slated by every order I've seen mentioned (including my own) to arrive Tuesday or Wednesday next week, not with the game on Friday.

If Amazon can't get it to me Friday, I'll just buy it at Gamestop.

I got an e-mail yesterday from Amazon stating:

Hello,

We have good news! One of your pre-ordered items is now eligible for release date delivery and has been upgraded at no additional charge. Your new delivery estimate is:

Prima Games "Xenoblade Chronicles X Collector's Edition Guide"
Estimated arrival date: December 04, 2015

So, sounds like I'll be getting the guide on Friday! Hopefully you will too.

Right, there is a difference between not properly explaining the game mechanics and wanting your hand held.

There is a manual. Everything is explained there AFAIK. If that's the case and Polygon complained then what they wanted were tutorials (= handholding).

Many things are not really explained well there unfortunately.

I can attest to this unfortunately. After 35h of game, there is still some stuff I don't fully understand. But after every story chapter there is some tips which explain a bunch of stuff, so maybe if was advancing the story instead of going around picking fight with the local wildlife, I would get some stuff cleared.

I hope the game doesn't have like secret boss ass mech parts/mechs locations you can only find and not buy.

Or do you build it from the store?

Cause if I have to find cool shit, fuck all that son I'm buying the guide.

I'm hoping for the opposite lol. Super equipment somehow feels more significant when you have to find them, or at least find the parts to craft it at pre-determined locations. Just investing money into a store and eventually getting the best weapons sounds boring.

For anyone who knows, is there no way to change the music volume in the game? It gets too loud for my liking, especially during cutscenes and battles. I've looked everywhere in the settings and can't seem to find a way.

Make sure your doing affinity quests and some normal quests to really experience the story aswell.

Well, I need to go around picking a fight with the local wildlife if I want to do these mission and affinity quest :p I am probably at 25h of doing just that and mining, and I just finished chapter 5... I will take a long time to finish this game I think

Any ideas if this game improves the quest markers on the map?

I know its uncool but I simply don't have time to google search specific quest names to get a gamefaq thread on where to find light skeeters etc. I'd much prefer that the quest specific item is highlighted better in the map whether its an enemy/item/npc i need to find.

Even if its just the general area in which to find said enemy/item/npc doesn't need to be exact.

I am just playing through the wii version right now for the 1st time and its my only minor gripe to an otherwise excellent game!

Im still getting X no matter what though.

Amazon FR here to the UK so I'll be waiting until next week for mine :( It's going to be a tough wait, but I've still got a lot to play at the moment some I'm resisting cancelling and going to a UK retailer.

There's one person streaming the game on twitch.

http://www.twitch.tv/destinyzero9999

They're not that great though...

EDIT: Then again they just started lol

This person must have been terrible to watch live lol.
I skipped to 1 hour 20 minutes into the archived stream and they still haven't left the first area where you're discovered. I'm not sure when in the 4.5 hour stream they actually left.

EDIT: apologies if it's anyone here :P

Which of the reviews would have the best detailed view of the game? Sorry for asking but I really don't have time to read through then all.

Interesting that gamexplain said they never once encountered a glitch or a bug within their 85+ hour playtime. Thats very impressive in this day an age of AAA games being full of them at launch. Also considering this is a big open world game I guess people can stop using that as an excuse for defending other games of the same type where they're "too big" to catch the bugs and glitches.

Lol this is either dumb or just plain ignorant. This game doesn't even have collision detection for moving objects

I was thinking when watching the Quicklook, it seems like they negated the possibility for regular unintentional glitches and bugs by making it intentionally janky and budget in certain areas.

I'm okay with that tbh. Game looks great, but just not enough to justify getting the console yet personally :(

I guess they should of kept collision detection when it doesn't matter because having that is more important then not having stuff like me randomly being warped to other places or my game crashing and countless other issues I've run into in a recent AAA open world game.
