Xenoblade Chronicles X - Review Thread

am I the only one who's going to take a nap then roll up to wal mart at midnight and grab some X and then smoke two joints while reading the manual before starting the game?
No, but assuming it comes in the morning I'll be doing that the moment I wake up!

Agreed. There is no way they could improve their system, without ensuring that they wouldn't massively break the street date.

I live right outside of Indianapolis. So I'm in the range of Amazon Now/Same Day deliveries. I have been ordering games from Amazon for atleast the past 2 years, and I havent had a single one miss it's release date if that was the projected delivery date.

I just think its stupid that it somehow is taking 3-4 days from Friday for a game with 1-2 day delivery to show up. And also the fact that they are apparently not going to start shipping until release date.

It's really hard for me to get to Gamestop sometimes (I travel frequently during the Summers so in-store is a no-no, and dealing with Weather+Classes during the winter). So Amazon is much easier, especially if its one of those situations where a pre-order pops up out of nowhere mid day then sells out later that night instore.

Also if you think thats bad, trying picking up a game like Onechanbara at Best Buy while the woman at the register is examining the case......

Hope you got the banana edition... had to explain to the gf...

on topic, I bought the game with the kotaku "review" in mind during E3... my hype drop dramatically and I wasnt expecting that much from this game but I wanted something for my WiiU along Yoshi. Now for the last few weeks, looking for to that game made me feel super excited like when I was a kid!

Anyboby knows when the OT will be up? (Hopefully somebody is working on it)

I understand completely. I lived in a small Canadian province called Prince Edward Island for a long time, and my amazon orders would often end up arriving a few days after release...

I realize it isn't the honest thing to do, but often times, if I had an online order that was/is cheaper (e.g. E3 preorders) I would just buy the game in store on release date and then return the amazon copy to the store when it arrives. This may or may not be considered fraud in some way though..

I have done this a few times lol. Especially if Amazon had a seperate pre-order bonus than the store.

Would do it for this game if it werent for the damn reversible cover in the SE. (And the fact it might have a different UPC/Not for Resale sticker). And I seriously doubt Redbox will have it.

They should allow you to ship your game a day or two in advance to the post office and they deliver it to you on release day.

Amazon is big enough they probably could do that.

Seems like smaller companies care a lot less about release dates. Had stuff come from places like NIS and Square Enix days before the actual release.

Feels like Amazon would have a heart attack even if it showed up the day before.

I don't think I've ever had a problem with Amazon getting me a game on release day. Until this collectors edition. :(

It's for the best for me though. I have school work to do.

I will be going to best buy Friday morning if this doesn't ship tomorrow. Amazon can deal with the return. I am reminded now why I stopped buying games from them once I got a car.

Yeah I never had a problem for many years until Tales of Zestiria and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Hopefully it was just two instance that won't happen again.

Same most likely. If it ships out tomorrow before late night time theres still the possiblity of coming by Friday/Saturday. But if it still hasnt even shipped by then I'm just gonna cancel.

Lol they tried the same crap on the shipping with me. Guy offered me One Day shipping, I said "Sure", he said "Okay that will be an extra 4$". Did ended up getting One day from another rep later though.

I saw a post on another forum about the Guide though. Its giving release dates of next week as well, so a couple people contacted Amazon and they were told it was due to a combination of lack of stock to deliver on release day and lack of carriers to deliver. Hope thats not the issue for this as well, just have yet to see a single person with release date on the SE yet.

Haha, i did pick up Onechanbara from GS, but it was a guy at least and someone who's relatively familiar with games too. The Captain Toad one is pretty good too.

That's too bad about the low stock. I ordered the guide for cheap on Black Friday, but no big rush on that. Normally I wouldn't care too much about waiting, definitely have plenty of other games to play. But wife will be away most of the weekend and I'll have one of those seemingly rarer and rarer opportunities for extended gaming sessions.

I do have a $40 reward zone coupon to Best Buy...

I don't know why people pre-order on Amazon and then complain about not getting the game on release day. Yes sometimes you will, but more often you're going to be waiting a couple extra days or sometimes even a week depending on the demand. It's the tradeoff for the convenience of not having to leave your house.

But personally, I'm just going to walk into a Target after work on Friday and have zero problems with picking up a copy.

This would actually be the first time Amazon has ever missed a release day delivery for me. They're usually pretty good about it in my experience.

Same for the bolded. I'm just gonna be super salty if it really does get her on the 8th since I'll be working all week with hardly any time to play.

I considered buying at Best Buy with my credit as well, but then I heard they are having a B2G1 on PS4 and XB1 games next week, and I really want EDF, Just Cause, and Ghost Recon lol

What's the installed size for the 4 disc dlcs? It required 16gb to download, but now that it's done it's only showing as 10gb in the hd manager.

Hello
Got the game this morning, I played about 2-3 hours today and so far its pretty cool.
This might be the first game ever that I got before the release date. Maybe nintendo is less strict about release dates, because I'm not the only one who got the game early.

This sounds like my plan, although I intend to vapor those two joints. First time I run through a car is going to be way funnier than it should be...

It's .... kind of possible. When you activate Off TV Play the game will be mirrored on both the GamePad and TV screen, that way you'll have audio through the GamePad. You'll lose the GamePad map, though. I don't *think* it's possible otherwise.

This really sucks.

They seem to be back in stock so hopefully we get them soon, I don't mind getting it a few days late personally as long as it comes :)

Yeah, in the very end, as long as I receive it, all will be good. It would be a nice surprise if it showed up earlier though. :P

*checks order*
arriving dec 10- dec 12

amazon pls

wtf

Whoa, for a moment I was gonna ask how the heck did you make Lyn's hair purple lol xD

anyone had their copy ship from best buy?

I better get it on friday T__T

I just checked my order now and it's still processing. I went back to the confirmation email just to check that I had released date delivery and I did.

I don't know what's going on. They usually ship it 3 days ahead of time. Looks like they will be using next day shipping this time(I HOPE).

I guess I'll just assume I'm getting overnight shipping since Best Buy hasn't shipped it.

If it doesn't come in for Friday, I might just give up hope on having a SE and pick up a regular copy from the store.

what's the digital size of this, all download packs enabled

only got 10gb left after digital smash and super mario maker

For a Digital copy, it is about 19GB installed, but requires 23ish GB free to install.

The Data Packs are around 10GB installed, and require 16GB free to install if you download all of them at the same time.

Also, since your phrasing is unclear, I'll clarify that the Data Packs are should NOT be downloaded if you're buying the digital version of the game. They are basically a workaround for the Wii U's limited ability to install data from physical copies.

If you're thinking about downloading the game digitally, the data packs are of no use to you. You also won't be able to fit it on your hard drive—I believe the game is 20+ GB (perhaps 22? unsure). EDIT: I was guessing and trying to remember the size of the Japanese version. Trust other posts.

The OT for this game better have something addressing the confusion about data packs and the digital copy in the OP. It has to be the most common question I've seen.
